Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

I must say i am very disappointed in the name change and rebranding and logo change and i certainly won't be displaying the new sticker in my car windscreen. Why change something that has all the heritage that the Caravan Club has? Personally i find it a complete waste of Member's subs.

The name is something most people can live with, perhaps the use of Motorhome is more to do with search engine results when potential new customers are searching for sites. I feel it may be sometime before CAMC is at the top of the search, I'm certain that the Charleston Area Medical Center, wont lose sleep over it. My biggest peeve is the colour of the logo, open the letter thinking it was another Motorhome and Caravan Show, wanting to know if I wanted to buy tickets, until I realised it was from the club. Perhaps having a stipulation to keep the colours from the recently update site signage would have helped with lowering the costs, or at least allowed the club to option to roll out new signage over a couple of years. Perhaps just changing the main office and entrance signage to include the new name, would have acceptable for the time being. Would it have matter that the 5 mph signs would still have had the Caravan Club logo on them, half the sites we've been over the majority of people don't read that sign anyway, let alone be able to make out the old logo with the speed they go. Me personally don't have a problem with Motorhomes, the only bit I hate is when we turn up on site, and think that there's loads of spaces when they are out on day trips. Like others have said, perhaps the Club should be investing in sites and possibly lowering site fees.

Re branding / loss of identity. What a complete waste of funds! Not to mention the complete lack of consultation with the majority of members. I thought it was a CLUB!

Could you rebrand Mayday breakdown too please?  I find it really expensive for just one day a year cover. I can get my John Bull printing kit down from the attic if you need any help with logo design etc.

Together we are embarking on a journey of investment....so you say. Yet as a reader of the magazine the email announcement of name change came out of the blue.  OK I suppose a name  change is progress but hardly a decision made  'together'.

The logo is another matter.  Any logo that needs a video to explain it must be weak.  As to investment,...new signs, uniforms, letterheads, etc. is a big investment and so soon after a fairly recent update of signage seems rather more than extravagant.  But then again a club that has hiked prices over the past few tough years at above inflation rates knows exactly what investment means.

Could Rochelle or someone else please provide details of the cost of the change ......or even the cost of sending the letter and stickers to all members?

Will uniforms and signs be replaced only when "worn out" or will they be replaced simply to show the name change and new logo?

The Club information states, presumably as a reason for change,  "that means making Motorhomers feel as valued as any other member".

I am now in my 15th year of membership and with the exception of occasional negative comments on this forum about  motorhomes or Motorhomers  such  as the one made  a little further up this thread and one occasion when a warden or assistant warden showed a compete lack of thought and understanding about what was needed  I have never felt less valued than any other member.

Incidently, has anyone noticed that the new name takes no account of members who use trailer tents?

What a lot of negativity on this thread. I have read the first 60 entries but cannot bring myself to read the further 699 to date as I suspect they will be more of the same frown.  I don't frequent the forum as much these days, in part because of such general negativity, which I feel is a shame as it has helped me tremendously as a new member back in 2012. Please forgive me if the majority of the latter comments are positive.

As far as the new name it does not bother me one way or the other, I no longer feel as though I am part of a Club, as in having a membership & say, but a subscriber to a company.

Having read a minority of anti-motorhome member comments on here some years ago it did make me feel as though I was not welcomed by the membership but soon learned that the forum is not really a true reflection of the membership so quickly got over it and am pleased to say I had never experience such hostility on the camp sites. I do think it is nice to have the Motorhome members reflected in the name though, as it more accurately reflects the membership and may prevent such comments as I have seen on here in the past.

As for the logo, I think I preferred the style of the old one but again am quite happy with the new one.

Regards, Roy

As I stood there yesterday with the expectant crowd waiting for this earth shattering announcement you could feel the tension rise as a large electronic screen counted down the seconds to 10.30am. Actually , it was 10.32 by the time the crowd was counting down the last 10 seconds so that wasn't a great start. Then, as hearts thumped Grenville was there announcing that we has changed our name! I stared at the other half, she stared at me and together we said" Is that it?" I think we should include the motorhomers- motorhomes weren't around in 1907- things have moved on a bit in more ways than one.   We enjoyed the show and I will be there again on Friday!

New Sticker arrived. Showed OH who thought the Autumnal colours drab and unexciting. Now binned so that was a waste of postage.

Posted on 22/02/2017 16:54

Funnily enough I rather like the colours. I'm not keen on green.

I don't mind the logo either - it's not as if I'm going to spend any time looking at it or displaying it on my car or van.

It's the lack of direction that I don't like although that's nothing new. I'm hoping that some proper policies in plain English arrive soon.

I just can't shake off this feeling that nobody thought any further than a rebrand and didn't realise that actions speak louder than words

Haven't time to read through all today's posts but found it totally ironic that the rebranded letter etc arrived in the old Caravan Club envelopes😂 Couldn't make it up if you tried.

I am disappointed with the changes. Our club magazine seemed to reflect more and more in favour of the Motor home members and this letter notifying me of the name and Logo change seems to confirm those thoughts.

The new Logo is dull and boring and shows no link what so ever even with colours to the one it replaces.

Sadly times are changing and we are seeing more and more Large Motor homes trying to negotiate country lanes driven by some who do not have the skills or aptitude to drive something so big.
