Lovely big, neat, well maintained pitches. Shower block, big and clean. Very handy bar and restaurant, menu a bit basic but just what you need after a long day's driving when you don't want to cook! Swimming pools are lovely though a little crowded but still able to swim quite happily. Perfect for a stop off near the Channel as well as for touring the area. Our stay was towards the end of July, just at the start of our school holiday period.
Very impressed
We used the site for a couple of nights on our way back from the South. We found the receptionist most helpful. The facilities were clean with plenty of cubicles. No waiting etc but the busy period was over. We used the restaurant on both evenings and the food was very good and the staff extremely pleasant. I only have one small moan. We were put on a pitch that was very sloped and accepted it thinking that we were there for a short period and the other sites would eventually fill with longer stayers. This never happened and many level sites remained unoccupied for the two nights. For all that we wouldn't hesitate to go back for a longer stay someday.

Great stopover site
Very nice site easy to get to from the motorway. Peaceful with attractive surroundings. Nice food at the restaurant but no shop and no bread delivery the following morning on the day we stayed. However near enough to the Calais ferry to get breakfast on board on the way home.
Ideal for stopover by Dunkirk & Calais
This site is in an excellent location for Calais and Dunkirk either outbound or inbound. The site is in the grounds of a Chateau with swimming pool and play area and number of courts. The sites are easy to access which is helpful. There is an excellent restaurant if you don't want to cook. The staff are very helpful as well. The sanitaire are clean but prone to mosquito attack!
Chateau du Gandspette stopover or more?
We booked two nights at Chateau du Gandspette as our last two returning from Italy. Normally we would have only booked one night but as the first night was our wedding anniversary we wanted more time to relax. The directions are from the Calais road heading East and there is no advance warning sign for the site and we missed the entrance. After approximately 1 mile you come to the Dunkerque road with a roundabout so you can approach heading West, where there is an approach sign for the site. The reception is very friendly and the pitches very generous. Power points are well hidden in the hedges! There are two swimming pools, one heated and an exercise machine area. The toilets are basic but well cleaned and the restaurant on site is very good, although most things come with chips, but that's France for you.
The next day we decided to drive to St Omer for a shop and fuel but I would not recommend and there is a large Supermarket about 2 miles away across the Dunkerque road roundabout. In the afternoon we walked (800 yards) to the Blockhaus d'Éperlecques 2nd World War site. I had no idea this existed and how close the Germans were to launching 30 per day V2 rockets upon GB. Well worth a visit, so allow at least half a day. We will definitely use again.

Perfect site
We used this site on our way to / from the Vende. Lovely site, very friendly staff, just wish it was 400 miles further South as we would have liked to stay there longer. Its location makes it a transit stop but its deserves far better. Some pitches are slightly on a slope.
Excellent first or last site
We have stayed here a number of times over the past 15 years or so. The owners are always friendly and welcoming and cannot be faulted for helpfulness. The facilities are always clean, but here are a few toilet seats missing and some toilets out of order - however it was the end of the summer season. This is an ideal site for a first stop on your journey or the last one, especially if you have a dog as the vet is just 3/4 mile down the road. There is a good supermarket just a mile down the road and bread is delivered daily (except Wednesday) to the site. This site is very convenient to both Calais and Dunkirk ports.
Great campsite
Stayed here 4 times over the summer. Perfect place to stop over before and after the ferry crossing and Carrefour is just down the road. Very clean facilities and great family entertainment - playground, bouncy castle, 2 pools and plenty of space. Very friendly staff, even a guard dog patrolling at night.
Great location for Calais
We used this site on both our outward and homeward tour as an overnight stop approx 45mins from Calais. Helpful English speaking staff, good sized pitches, and decent clean facilities. Will use again.
Great Site - Ideal for a stopover
Stayed here for 2 nights before catching the ferry. Great site in a good location. Worth pointing out that at night there is a guard dog on duty which gives you piece of mind before catching the ferry. Very local to a carrefour and the Cite Europe is only a short drive away. Facilities very clean and well maintained.
Would stay here again when crossing although when asking how much electric was available, was told between 6-10 amps and the paperwork in the office seemed to quote 6 amp. Something to maybe be aware of in the winter when heating may need to be used.
