A pleasure to visit.

Even taking into account the cost of the Ferry from Dover to Dunkirk it is well worth the extra money. We have been camping and caravanning for many years and have yet to find a campsite it this country that comes anywhere near to the standard and facilities offered at Chateau du Gandspette. The fact that it limits the amount of dogs per pitch is an added bonus. Something we wish this county would do. The staff are lovely and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The Restaurant, bar, takeout, outside gym, huge children's area, 2 swimming pools etc. etc. are all a bonus. We go several times a year and it is always a pleasure

Excellent stay - spotless!

We stayed here on July 15th also and once again were so impressed with the site. Again the welcome and information when we arrived was great - the cleanliness of the facilities was second to none and the bar was a pleasant place to have a drink and wind down. We have used this site for a few years now on our way home and would recommend it to anybody. Its excellent. We do not have children travelling with us so cannot comment on the suitability for children. We may not have been in the same area of the site as the reviewer who said the place was filthy, I cannot say but we have stayed in different areas and the facilities have always been first class. My advice - if its dirty go and complain about it there and then.

Very disappointing

Very disappointing about this site as we read the reviews and thought it sounds very nice. The toilets were filthy and hidden round the back of the shower block.very isolated. No shop at all. Doesn't sell milk. You can order bread but that's it. Won't be using this site again

Good for ferries but great for a holiday too

What a lovely surprise, didn't expect such a great site - pity we only had a one night stopover. Huge pitches, ours was a little slopped but no problem. We didn't use the facilities as we were on our last night and decided to use the last of our food supplies, rather than take them home. Most people were there for the ferries, etc. Very friendly, efficient and happy guy on reception. No need to book bread etc, as the bakery come to the site each morning for an hour (think it was 8-9am). Pools looked lovely too. Would definitely recommend and will return for a holiday/break - it really was too nice to just be used as a stopover.

First time visit

We have just stayed at this site for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We booked it for its proximity to the channel tunnel, about 35 minutes in the motorhome and weren’t too concerned what it would be like. What a surprise, a great site with good facilities, 2 pools, bar, restaurant, good dog walking and friendly helpful staff. It is also very close to the vets, supermarket fuel etc. We actually arrived 3 days earlier than we booked, trying to escape the heat further south so spent a total of 6 nights there. It gave us time to discover what an interesting area this is, the blockhouse which is just down the road within walking distance, is well worth a visit. Will definitely use this site in the future when returning from anywhere in Europe.

More than a stop over site.

We have 'stopped over' at Chateau du Gandspette on many occasions going to and from ferries and the tunnel. The standard of the site remains consistently excellent. It is more than a stop over site with a good restaurant and an excellent swimming pool. There are many interesting places to explore in this part of France and Gandspette is a good base. The staff are friendly and helpful and the management team appears to be unchanged in the last 5 years.

First stop from ferry. Brilliant place.

A warm welcome, very good pitch and a real bonus was that we were able to have a swim. This site is ideal for both arrivals and departures to and from the UK. The facilities are fine and the setting is great, especially if you have a dog as there are great walks on site in the woodlands. There is a kids pool which means the adult pool is left quiet for proper swiming. It would be a great place for a family holiday.

Perfect Site Either As A Stop-over Or For a Longer Visit...

20 miles from the Tunnel and so used as last night stop-over and what a pleasant surprise! Large grassy pitches (ours sloped quite a lot) but very spacious and with 3 pin euro connections (see other comments?). Easy access to water and waste disposal though quite a trek to the recycling! Facilities - best has to be a perfect swimming pool - one heated, the larger one apparently not although ti was warm enough! Lovely little bar area and restaurant (not tried). Some exercise machines, table tennis tables and a large grassed area. Clean toilets (with seats) and showers/wash facilities. Excellent English spoken at reception. It is close to the Belgian border so easy access to Ieper etc and Brugge isn't a million miles. For someone wanting to 'try' abroad and you can 'do' 2 countries, you won't go far wrong!
