Wonderful Site, wonderful location

We thought that the Site was great. It was only 10 minutes walk from the centre of York. The facilities were always immaculate and the Staff were very friendly. The only drawback was we didn't book for long enough and we are hoping to go back in the near future.

Sweet Dreams

Just spent four wonderful days in sun drenched York, at Rowntree Park Club site, Fantastic! Even though the site was full, the pitches are large and you get the feeling of not being over crowded. The site is spotless with no signs of the recent work and the facilities first rate. The wardens, although  constantly run off their feet with arrivals and departures always have time for a chat or to help find that special place to visit. The day before we arrived 60 units had to be booked in and the staff expected a further 15 to arrive after us in late afternoon. A word of warning, the approach roads to the site are narrow and could present a problem for large units arriving meeting those departing so please avoid arriving before 1200hours but don’t let that put you off, it’s a great site. Away from the site, York City is a ten minute stroll along the riverbank, full of everything you would expect from a City as well as a long and fascinating history and not forgetting the river. The place has something to offer both young and old and will entertain the family throughout their stay, there’s also a kids playground next door in the park. Eating establishments abound to cater for all, we liked ‘Plonkers’ wine bar  in Cumberland Street serving homemade food, the steak and ale pie was excellent followed by proper jam rolly polly that took me back too far to those halcyon days of school dinners although the custard wasn’t as lumpy as I remember it.  Nearer to the site, just five minutes walk via the back gate you’ll find some local shops including a small supermarket where you can find most provisions you might want and you can enjoy a nice coffee at the ‘Pig and Pie’ at the top of the road. We really enjoyed our stay at Rowntree Park, It was great to be able to park the car and forget it for the rest of our stay and we will be back later in the year.

Finally!!

Just returned from a fantastic 4 day break at Rowntree Park, we FINALLY managed to get booked in! persistance does pay off. Only two grumbles: 1, Now that the new pitches are finished It appears there are now fewer pitches than before thus making it even harder to get booked in!! 2, No coat hooks in the gents wash block near the hand wash basins, come on Caravan Club they aren't that expensive for 3 or 4 hooks, and there is space for them. As previous reviews have said the Wardens here are terriffic, nothing seems to much trouble for them. It was also great to park the car up for nearly 4 days and walk into town. There's loads to do and some great eateries within minutes of either the main entrance or out from the rear gate. We hope to be back, if we can ever get booked in again...:-)

Fantastic

We come to this site every year. The location is fantastic and York is such a lovely city. It's a wonderful spot for a winter break. The only problem in the past has been with some of the wardens who have been rigid and positively unhelpful. We must say though that all of the wardens this year were cheerful, helpful and welcoming. Thanks very much guys - you were great. It makes such a difference!

Great Club Site

This Caravan Club Site is excellently placed near to York Center. All pitches are hard standing and well maintained. My wife and I have been numerous times and would go every weekend if we could. Only 10/15 minutes walk to the center of York, it is a lovely walk along the river bank. Plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Lovely family park next to the site. Really friendly and helpful staff. We were last there for the Valentines weekend and it looks like there may be more pitches available shortly due to a building that has recently been demolished next door to the site.

A great city location.

Stayed here for a few days during the February half term. The site is in a stunning location right next to the river and really just a short stroll from the city. We spent a couple of days exploring the city and all its museums and sights which we did by foot. Then took the car out to explore a bit further afield.  The wardens were friendly and welcoming and the facilities were spotless. We will certainly be returning.

Wish we could have stayed longer

We were lucky enough to be able to stay here for one night. We enjoyed the short walk into York to see the sights. Wardens were helpful and friendly. Pity it is so difficult to get a booking here, but we can see why.

REALLY GOOD SITE

The site is in a really location and the new development has improved the look of the site The only downsides of this site is difficulty in getting booked with it being so popular but everytime we go it is fully booked online but there is always empty places .Also the 11.15 departure time is a bit too early
