Super location for visiting York

This was the First time we had visited the site in early May. Absolutely brilliant. Handy for York as you are able to walk right into the centre along the river. Good walks along both sides of the river and very handy shops through the back gate for papers and any last minute items. The site was more than we expected and will try to stay longer than 3 days next time, that's all we could get when we booked back in February, its a very popular site. The wardens were very helpful, they helped us put our caravan onto the pitch. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean as always on club sites. Will definitely visit again.

Rowntree Site York - May 2015

Always wanted to stay here as it is right in the centre of York.  Luckily I booked it as soon as the booking window opened in Dec 2014.  We went with friends, they tried to save us a pitch near them but were told they couldn't.  We arrived and were given a nice location not far from our friends, the staff where very helpful and friendly.  Unfortunately our pitch (28) was right on the flight path of the geese from the river and the nearby park - they made right mess on my awning and car!! Re the site - good facilities and excellent for visiting all the sights of York. One minor grumble - we did notice that some pitched appeared to be reserved by the placing of a cone!  These pitches didn't have any special facilities, neither where they extra long... so why couldn't our friends save us a pitch.

Perfect!

We stayed here last weekend (24/25th April) and could have not chosen a more perfect site for a weekend in York. We normally visit York as a couple and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights but at £41.40 for 2 nights here it was excellent value for money. The site wAs easy to get to and a friendly welcome awaited us when we arrived! The facilities were spotless and even though it's a busy site there were plenty of showers and loos so no queues. The site itself, from what I saw was immaculate. To be honest we only used the site as a base, but lots of others were sat outside enjoying the sunshine. It's a short walk into the centre of town 10 minutes at the most along the river, we were contemplating a taxi back the first night we stayed but walked back at 12.30am and felt perfectly safe. The site is fairly peaceful although there is some road and river noise, after all you are in the centre of a fantastic and vibrant city.  This has fast become our favorite site so far, helped by the fact it is in our favorite City! We are certainly returning in November if not before!

Speed Kills

We spent six glorious days at this site mid April. It is excellently situated for the short walk into York along the river.   The site itself is well laid out, well equipped and kept in good order by the excellent warden team who are efficient while at the same time friendly, courteous giving excellent customer service. The site is also nearby to local shops and takeaways and a fish and chip shop making it a true paradise. There was unfortunately one area of concern.   The majority of club members are responsible people, but a significant minority choose to ignore the speed limit on site and drive at a speed and in a manner that is reckless on a caravan site. The culprits include both sexes and all age groups. The wardens do their best to remind Members of the speed limit, but the minority persist - and many of the minority were on this site last week.

Easter week 2015

The site is well placed for visiting York with its many attractions. It is clean & tidy with first facilities. Local shopping (and pubs) are close by. We w3ere sited next to the road so were disturbed most mornings by passing joggers talking loudly as early as 5 am. My only real crib is the fact that the hardstandings are so hard I bent several pegs putting up the awning! Less large stones in the mix would be helpful. otherwise an excellent site.

Site much improved!

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this site, we were late arrivals on Friday, so expected to be in the overflow area, which was off the main site and quite dark and uninviting. You can imagine how delighted we were to find that it has gone and the area is open and light and just lovely! Warm welcome from the wardens on arrival, very clean facilities, an immaculate site all made a great weekend for us! We will be back!

Beautiful Site

We have just returned from spending Easter at Rowntree Park and this is a truly lovely site. The Wardens are very welcoming and the cleanliness of the site is a credit to them. The toilet and shower facilities were warm and exceptionally clean. The pitches are lovely with some being separated by hedges giving you a little more privacy and you certainly have plenty of room. The town is only a 10 minute stroll from the site which meant that we never used the car from the time we arrived to the time we left. This is now one of our favourite sites and one we will be defiantly returning too. Thank you for a lovely Easter holiday.
