Panic puncture

Moving day, up early to get on the road and beat the traffic.  Working through the check list - remove leveller from wheel/tyre: the tyre was flat! Don't panic.  Warden was able to provide a 2 ton jack to lift the wheel off the ground and fit the spare in place.  The warden also helped with the operation. Totally impressed with his customer focus.  Big thank you to the wardens for their help and assistance.  We will be back.

Another great stay

Once again we had a great weekend stay here,Facilities tip top and the site clean and tidy. We hardly ever go into York now but prefer the shops and eateries on Bishy road at the back of the site, superb butchers and the Indian is great not so the chippy though,Great large park next door and a good selection of pubs within 2/3 mins walk.We use it as a base to get to the car boot sale at the racecourse which is huge.On another note well done to the owners of an Auto Trail 700 pitched on no 97 Sunday am 2nd August for dumping the  contents of your grey water tank onto the pitch when the mvsp was only 50ft away I am sure the next occupants of the pitch were impressed at your actions.Well done to the wardens for the new herb garden I made use of it.

Excellent stay

We have been visiting this club site for nearly ten years. We were always happy with it except the last two years when we found the wardens were very hostile and extremely unhelpful. This year it was totally different: fantastic reception by very very very cheerful and helpful wardens. The recent building changes and reorganization of the site made it a lot better. You are even offered to pick fresh herbs from the pots planted by the wardens. We could not have hoped for a better stay.

Interesting Welcome!

After a long drive up the A1 we arrived safey having followed the excellent directions to the site. We were a little before midday thanks to a trouble free run. We were surprised to be told, immediately, to get back in the car and potentially leave the site as we pulled up to the barrier and had left plenty of room for others to pass us. Fortunately no others arrived before 12 and were then allowed to go to our pitch. The entrance way was not under pressure when arrived although it does have limited capacity for outfits. Later in the week we saw up to seven stacked here awaiting entry. After this the staff were more friendly and we enjoyed a great stay in the city. I suggest that if you are pitching an awning you take pegs suitable for very very hard conditions!

Fantastic Site

Arrived early so we could get a good pitch as have two Border Collies. The site is kept in immaculate condition and the wardens are polite, helpful and always around. Showers and toilets really clean. The location is the best to date for us, but who could complain when you have a great City within 2 mins bike ride and 5mins walk. The shops are different and quirky and always some form of entertainment in the centre. Walking the wall was good giving you a different view of this lovely place. Biking and running from the site along the river is fantastic. We cannot say anything negative about the site or the City. Will be on the Internet as soon as we can to book for next year.

fantastic stay

we arrived slightly early but were welcomed by the wardens and got a great pitch ( 49 ) and for the first time EVER on a CC site the wardens pushed our caravan onto the pitch ! the site is immaculate and we enjoyed the fund raiser party on the Sat night ...we won first prize in raffle .The wardens were especially great with the children ( we had 2 of our young granddaughters with us for week 2 of our 15 night stay ). I especially liked the wardens who stopped for a chat when passing by our pitch ( many on other sites seem to have blinkers on and fail to even make eye contact ) All in all a fantastic stay and well worth the 5 phones and internet process on that date in Dec when the booking for 2015 became live . I would however say im disappointed that more pitches aren't designated as awning pitches ...they are HUGE and could easily facilitate a caravan and awning and large car and still have space to sit out .Many of the blue peg pitches were previously awning pitches .....

Location, location

The location of this site is hard to beat with everything on your doorstep whichever entrance you exit the site. Wardens very friendly and the new booking in system works brilliantly. Facilities spotless. Astonishing how fast cars drive around the site considering there are so many children on push bikes/scooters - it's a tragedy waiting to happen. Especially considering there is a lovely park/play area next door where they could have endless fun. Lazy parenting means they can't put down their cans of beer down and actually take them instead allowing them to run riot on site with no consideration for others. Some children were still on their bikes at 10.30pm while parents continued to get lathered into the early hours. It's only a matter of time before there is a really bad accident.

Booked for a return trip in September

Our first time here, I understand why you need to book so far in advance! Its in a great location, easy walking distance to city centre, local shops, local pubs and of course the river. We stayed for 2 nights from 3rd July, the site was almost full, we arrived just after 2pm, but managed to get a pitch near the middle of the site, so we were not bothered by the park, which is next door. The facilities here are great, spotless, and the site very clean. We have 2 dogs and although there is no dog walk on site, you can take your dogs for a walk outside the site and into Rowntree Park (on a lead) - the park itself is really pretty and peacful. We took our dogs for a long walk along the river, past the Millenium bridge and they can run free, we walked up to Bishopthorpe Palace and then crossed over the river and walked back the other side. Most of the pubs seem to be dog friendly, close to the site and into the city, and not only in the beer gardens but also welcome you inside. This is a great site for visiting the city and for the races. We are looking forward to returning in September.

love this site

This was our second visit to this site. New set of wardens were really friendly and helpful. Very clean site and we did not need to use the car for our weeks visit as every thing we needed was in walking distance. We will definitely be coming back.
