Great Site

Stayed on this site for 4 nights last week second visit in about 10 years it's a great location and very well run by the staff however the only gripe I had was not being allowed to put a small sun canopy up on my pitch because it was classed as a non awning pitch so it would be too small yet my daughter came on one day to visit us and they parked there car next to mine on the same pitch along with my caravan so loads of room it just seemed a bit mean that's all.

pitched in new area

Another great stay, fun welcome by the wardens dressed in Elvis outfits, great organisation getting the entrance clear and everyone to pitches. we were on the new area a great big awning pitch no 89. Great for us as close to exit for getting dogs off site. A little bare at the back of the pitch as the shrubs still need to grow, but we weren't disturbed by people passing by the fence but might bother light sleepers or those early to bed, until the shrubs grow. Great location for all, plenty if dog walking along the river. Highly recommend the Masons Arms pub, great food, dog friendly inside and out. Dog walk turn right out of site along the river, cross millennium bridge lots of open space to throw balls, head back towards town on this side you reach the Masons Arms. York has masses of pubs, shops, restaurant, many pubs dog friendly.

Rowntree Park

The site is typical of all CC Sites that we have stayed on in terms of facilities and cleanliness but the location makes it special. Not only do you have the City of York within 10 minutes walk but you also have some excellent local pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants on your doorstep.

Our 2nd Visit to the Site

A lovely place to stay, ideal just to walk into the city. Very clean and modern facilities. I had a problem this year on the site with my gas connection, and was mentioning it to Phil one of the wardens, and he was so helpful, he went out of his way, he found a spare connection I needed and came over to our caravan and fitted it on for us. Many thanks again Phil, we will definitely return.

An ideal site.

A very pleasant site ideally located for York city centre. As always the wardens were pleasant and helpful. It was a shame that a peaceful Sunday evening was spoilt by a thoughtless couple who seemed to think it was okay to go out for almost 5 hours leaving their dogs in the motor home.  The site had to endure the dogs barking for the entire evening until gone 11pm. The wardens tried contacting the couple but got no reply.  Not only was it unfair on those staying on the site, but it was unfair on the dogs who were clearly distressed.  It is a shame that the wardens felt an apology to them was sufficient, when the club rules state that pets should not be left alone in vehicles.

Avoid Pitch 98

Avoid pitch no. 98, I arrived with no choice but to take this pitch. it is supposed to be an awning pitch, the awning when set up fits nicely into the conifers which defeats the idea of it being an awning pitch. It is surrounded by trees which are to strategically overgrown and placed to allow roosting pigeons to defecate over your vehicle van and awning. Probably the worst pitch I have ever stayed on. No sympathy from the staff though, I was advised it has been measured up and therefore suitable for use. Not impressed at all.

Aug 2015 First Visit

Fantastic site within the historic city of York. Very easy walking into the city with so much to see and do. Had a great day at Castle Howard which must be one of the top places to visit.

caravan park lay out confusing to the wardens

We have visited this site quite a few times and enjoy the location with York easy walking distance, top quality Park and river on your door step. But we have been asked more than once to move our car as it was not correctly placed. We always place the car per the wardens instructions on arrival. Due to the way the site is layed out I think it would benifit all if the site map was a bit more detailed with each pitch showing were to put you car caravan etc and in what order as this site uses a multitude of parking arrangements specific to the pitch. That way we would not feel embarassed at moving our car to where the neighbouring caravan has had their car the last couple of days as they were none the wiser about were to leave their car.
