Brilliant site, helpful staff and fantastic walks or cycle paths around, easy for York. The only problem is it's so good it's hard to get a pitch, other than that it amazing.
An eventful stay
We arrived on site on Sunday 06 September.
A warm friendly welcome from the site staff.
As we set up we discovered we had an electrical problem and asked the warden to assist.
Without hesitation the warden came to our camper and tested the incoming electrics - the problem was diagnosed as being a fault in our van rather than on site. The warden offered to contact a local repair company but as the van was under warranty and the dealer nearby we chose to leave it until the Monday to ge to them. The warden offered to store the contents of our fridge for us. On the Monday evening when we returned to the site the warden came to check we are ok. Excellent.
One downside however was that site works commenced which involved a lot of drilling to remove the concrete around a waste water point. Some disruption was inevitable but with only two workmen on site it was going to longer than anticipated - well actually one workman and a site foreman.
On the whole another good visit to York.
Excellent site
Great site, clean, well positioned for York. A short walk into one of the UK's great attractions and a beautiful walk along the river.

Great site to visit York .
This is a great site to use to visit York . Very clean and the wardens are so helpful. We have a large caravan and the wardens where so nice and allocated us a pitch so we would fit on site with no problems. Very short walk into York which is lovely and lots to look at . We have a dog and there is plenty of places to walk . You can't let dogs off lead in the park next to the site but you can along the river and you can walk or drive to the racecourse and let them off their too . Will be returning again next year .
So Good and so close
I previously wondered why this site is always full Now I know! So close to York City and its many paying and free attractions City not to be missed!
The wardens are friendly and helpful despite the very busy nature of the site and attempt to accommodate all the different size units to members benefit
A peaceful and tranquil location adjacent to the Ouse
Another great stay
We had another great stay here, found the wardens very friendly and helpful, its great if you have dogs (we have 2) as there are plenty of places to take them along the river - in both directions- without having to go 'into' the city. We walked along the river to the RSPCA at Landing Lane and also across to the race course. We stayed on the 'new bit' and had a very spacious pitch. We will definatley be back next year.

Wardens not as friendly as others sites on arrival
The warden could be more friendly when you arrive ato 2 minutes before 12pm and should not make you wait to book in, in caravan order. Then tell you only 4 spaces available as bigger vans than our 23ft van coming in, then put other vans the same size as ours in the coned off spaces. Then next few days they let people in before 12pm. Will think twice about coming back.

Another good stay at Rowntree Park
Returned for a week's stay in August we really like the park. The staff are helpful and friendly and the location could not be better. The new extended site is great too. We will be back next year!
My experience at York
Good site, great location. Difficulty booking in if you happen to be a little bit early arriving. I would suggest that it be made known to arriving guests that unless it is exactly twelve noon you will not be allowed to park on the concourse to the site and wait there for entry but you should go straight to the adjacent car park until it is time. This would be less hastle for both the site staff and visitors alike.

City break by the river
We stayed at Rowntree Park as we needed to be near the centre of York as we are both registered disabled and walking great distances is not for us. I am pleased to say it was not too far to the nearest bus stop but we took the sightseeing bus - hop on hop off to get around. Great value for money and it took us just where we needed to go. We shuffled along the pedestrian streets saw the Minster in all it's glory and all the sights spending a whole day without noticing the time. Back to the site for a well earned shower, the disabled facilities are excellent for our needs and the wardens were so helpful when we suddenly had a confusing electrical fault in our motorhome, which was resolved on a bank holiday for no additional call out fee (We still don't know what the problem was). Many thanks for the assistance given. In the evenings the area goes quite quiet despite being so near to the local attractions. A peaceful walk along the riverbank for the dogs without the fear of passing cars - beware cyclists and joggers - oh how envious to do such things again! After four days we moved on with memories and photos stored. A lovely CC site, well managed clean and with helpful staff. What more can one ask for?
