Location Brilliant

Been coming here for 10 years now mainly in the autumn, winter months ,There are a lot more children on site now than in previous years and they don't appreciate the fact that not everyone gets up at 8 am ,There were 2 families near us and they were very noisy Location is really good The wardens were polite & friendly. We think the toilet cleaning times should be later in the day,The biggest disappointment about this site  is having to get off at 11.15.The arrival time should be put back till 12.30 .

Simply Wonderful...

I always give a fair review, as I see it. Well, this is our second visit to Rowntree Park, the fact that we returned says a lot! The half term week was lovely and warm again so our short walk up to York town centre on many occasions was most enjoyable. The staff are very accommodating, polite and cheerful. This is a 5* site... Well done to all... I do have one criticism, though to be fair it is apparent on all sites, SPEEDING! In my eyes 5 mph means 5 mph! When there are children playing and even adults walking 5mph matters. There were a few instances, and the culprits were all people who had children with them!

Fantastic location

Beautiful well kept site. Sanitary facilities impeccable. Very pleasant friendly staff. Location is excellent, short walk to centre of York and all it has to offer, lovely park next to the campsite very good if you have children .

October 2015

Unexpected exceptional site, Town centre yet peaceful, Helpful staff, Super location. Only slight problem could be access, we had a dry run first without the caravan, this was very useful. Well done.

First Class

As usual this site does not disappoint. The team of wardens, Janet and Carl Dixon, and their assistants Janet and Phil Brownley are extremely efficient and their approach to managing the busy booking in process was first class. looking forward to being back there for Christmas and new year.....River permitting!!

It was our first time at York beautiful little camp site very welcoming very clean and tidy lovely facilities and just a 10 minute walk along the river to the city centre would definitely be going back and would recommend it to friends and family

Good gets better

One of our favourite sites as you can park your car on arrival and rarely need to use it. Such a convenient spot for all the attractions of York. Redevelopment has made the site more attractive and open. We have been many times and never get tired of York. So many good eating / drinking places and park next door is great for children. Warm welcome from stewards on arrival.

York Good but,,,,

Always good to visit York,Allocated awful pitch under very tall, dark trees felt very overpowering and constant leaves twigs etc onto van roof,Yes I know its autumn, but not nice area unlike open rows.Work being done on waterpoints didn't help us to feel like on "holiday".Needed lights on all day.Nice to walk round York centre and good visit to Railway museum. Toilet block etc all okay as it should be.

Good points and bad points

We arrived on site at half term hols and the first time pre allocated a pitch number whether we liked it or not . The staff at reception were quite polite though . Then we pitched our motorhome on the allocated pitch . It was during half term so lots of children about . We don't mind children on site as they enjoy making new friends . We overheard the over-officious male warden telling the kids off for using scooters when they seemed quite well behaved . Where are they supposed to play if they cant use the site roads. YORK RT is only popular because of its locality but that's the only reason its so busy . I think the CC should monitor and review all the bookings at York Rowntrees site and see if some members are abusing the on line system i.e workers getting cheap digs . They should allow a maximum of 5 days per season here as you can never get a booking..The site is quite cramped and dosnt have any views so if you need to see York fine otherwise we would find a nicer site elsewhere
