York at Christmas

Arrived on the 20th December ready for Christmas. The site had been previously closed due to flooding. The wardens had done a great job cleaning up. Unfortunately river levels rose again and we were advised that the site would be closing again. The wardens were great throughout updating us on a regular basis and keeping a smile on their faces which can't have been easy as their Christmas is ruined and they will have all the hard work of re cleaning after the floods.

Site Closed from Boxing Day

Dear Member, due to high river levels and the risk of flooding the site will be closed from Saturday 26th December until further notice. We will update this message as soon as we have any further information. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Carl & Janet Dixon, Wardens.

After the floods

Having visited this site several times and being aware of flooding causing the site to close, we were keeping fingers crossed that the site could be re-opened in time for our arrival date of 18 December. It was in fact opened on the date of our arrival and despite the area around the site bearing signs of flooding the site itself was in a pristine condition - full credit to the wardens. Also, since our last visit a ramp has been installed to the main facilities block to replace the disabled lift. This is a very welcome addition.

a gem

Just returned this evening, shame the site had to be evacuated due to flood water levels. Excellent site always a great place to visit, wardens welcoming and helpful ...thanks to all for making our annual visit enjoyable even though it had to be cut short

Sat 5th Dec - Site closed due to rising river levels

Review left today by the Warden @ York Rowntree Park. Please be aware that due to rising river levels the site has been fully evacuated today and we wont be accepting any arrivals until at least Wednesday 9th December. From Monday the correct information box at the top of this page will have up to date information.

Lovely site

We booked having seen late availability a couple of days before. It's very rare we can get booked in here. It was great to visit my 'home' town for the weekend. Lovely warden, much friendlier than the last one we met! Thanks great facilities and so close to the city centre.

Pre Christmas trip .. Last minute.com

Checked the website and found someone had just released their booking so just had 2 nights at York and as ever the site was excellent, The wardens really keep this place sparkling and we look forward to our next visit. Really close to the shops, a walk around the wall to the Minster always with a visit. We also found a great little stop off called Cafe Luca, food was fantastic and pretty good value.

lucky to get a pitch

Just spent 3 nights at Rowntrees park, x mas shopping all done! site excellent credit to the wardens for cleaning up after the flooding. will be back again next year if we are lucky enough to get booked in!

Great Site

Great Site always kept very clean and tidy. We arrived when the site was on flood alert. the warden was fantastic by keeping everybody up to date with what was happening with the levels of the river. We will be back again in the summer if we can get booked on.

brilliant site

Excellent visit as always. The wardens were lovely and kept us up to date with the river levels. The site was on flood alert but luckily we managed our whole break there. It is in a perfect position to visit york and the designer outlet. You can get a park and ride bus to the outlet which makes it very easy if, like us, you have a motorhome we go to the site every year at this time and hope to continue to do so for many more years
