Great site

Just had a lovely sunny week in York. It's been 6yrs since we last visited & it's still as good as ever if not better since the old building that was in the middle of the site has been demolished Wardens were great. Well located within easy reach of town. Easily walkable to York Railway Museum, York Minster & The Shambles, in fact our car got parked up on our pitch & didn't move until we came home. Lovely Rowntree Park is right next door. After realizing how much we enjoyed it there we won't be leaving it as long to go next time.

Whit break

Another sunny break at York, ideally located on the outskirts of the city centre within walking distance. Good sized pitches mostly hedged and private, most pitches open to the sun which means satallite tv is good. There is plug in TV, but water and toilet emptying are limited around the site so be prepared to walk. Toilet cleaning is around 10.15 to 11.15 which can cause queue's on leaving days. Our last couple of club stays, the wardens cleaned the toilets mid afternoon, when most people have gone out for the day. This caused less congestion, and people took their time in a morning rather than rushing to beat the stampede before the morning clean. Having said that, the wardens were very friendly, chatting as they worked whenever they passed. The alterations since the old building was flattened are fantastic. We will be going again soon. Take kids to York railway museum and York dungeons and don't forget your bikes and the park next door.

Short Break

Good short break in lovely city of York.Usual chaos on arrival some had been let in to pick a pitch and some seemed to be expected to pay 1st.I was told we would like you to use 23 or 98 as you are short,it would make a very nice change to have free choice of pitch !!.after all we pay same high rate per night.Toilet block warm middle of the day and cool early evening,but water hot so that's the main thing.If going to Leeds on the bus try the City Zap as it was much quicker.All York seemed busy.Better weather Wednesday and Thursday made walking nicer.Looking forward to next visit for St.Nicholas Christmas Fayre.

Lovely clean sight, ideally located for visiting York. Park up the car for the duration and get plenty of good walks. Only slight downside is if parked to the side with children's play park in Rowntree Park can be very noisy in good weather up to park closure time.

The Place to be!

This is a top site and exceedingly busy. I had to be on the computor immediately when booking for the next year oened and already many dates were taken, The reason for this of course is because the site is IN York. Walk out the gate and you are on the river path to the centre about 10/15 minutes away. The only downside was the noise from a nearby building site but that is probably temporary. The facilities and reception are excellnt. If you do not feel like walking to the centre there is a gate which acesses an area with shops and restaurants about 10 minutes away. There is no dog walk on cite but there is a public park about 5 minutes away but dogs have to be kept on the lead. You could not get better for visiting York with its many attractions.

Excellent Site++

What a wonderful site right on the River Ouse and a 20 min walk into York. Rowntree park is well Managed by Phil, Janice and team who go about their work efficiently and in a friendly way. Phil and his assistant were at hand to push our caravan on to its pitch for us....fantastic. Surrounding area is superb with a lovely park right next door and walking/cycling paths outside the gate. Could not fault. John & Lib. Wirral.

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION

Had a lovely 3 night stay over the Bank Holiday Weekend. What a gem of a site. Great staff, great facilities and BRILLIANT location. When checking in the warden asked if we'd previously stayed at the site.............. chance would be a fine thing, getting a booking here is like winning the caravan lottery and for this reason I do think it seems unfair that bookings are available to non members at sites that are over subscribed. Would love to go back but getting a booking is almost impossible.

Very good location for city of York

We have visited this site many times in recent years and the one thing that puts it apart is the location. A short walk into York with all its visitor attractions. That said the site itself is similar to all other club sites the facilities offered compare with the standards of many other sites. Due to its city location the site is compact and some noise can be expected from the adjacent park if you choose a pitch on this side. Also some pitches are shaded and get very little sun. If I am allowed a little gripe I think the cost has become rather expensive. Two adults and a unit costs well over £32.00 at some times of the year or is it just me?

Excellent Stay

As usual excellent facilities up to and above Caravan Club usual standard. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Have only given a 4 for peace and quiet as it is a very popular site and it was busy with outfits coming and going but it did not spoil our stay. Situated in the centre of York but it didn't feel like you were. Walk to the city centre was only 10 to 15 minutes walk. Plenty to do for families and couples. Excellent fish and chips 5 minutes walk through the back gate. We shall definitely be back.

Another Excellent Stay

Been to this site many times and never disappointed, excellent facilites and cleanliness, staff are extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. Highly recommend.
