First Visit

This was our first visit to Beechwood Grange. The site is very well organised and the information hut on site is excellent, obviously a lot of work has been put in to this by the wardens. The site is very well presented and well kept. The showers were the best we have had on any CC camp site. We had a motor home but cycled to the park and ride near by and used this for York without any problems. The wardens were very pleasant with always a smile on their faces and took the chance to chat to you which made a pleasant personal touch. An excellent site for a visit to York.Highly recommended.

Another great stay at Beechwood Grange

Having stayed last year in August we all agreed that a return this August would be enjoyed by all including our new addition a 1 year old collie. Despite the site being more or less full for the two and a half weeks we stayed the facilities were always spotless and the wardens always had a smile on their faces. The kids really enjoyed the afternoon of activities put together by the wardens and helpers early on in the holiday. With many retail outlets including several supermarkets a very short drive away we will definitely be back.

Excellent Staff, useless WiFi

Welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff. Pleasantly laid out site, not regimented in tight rows. Site very well looked after by staff. However, stay spoilt by USELESS WiFi! Excellent connection to site routers, but almost unusable link from site modem to Club server! At any time of day link lost, or if not took ages to link to my e-mail provider, any websites or download small files, all needed for my work away from home. Paid £25 for year's use, would have been better to have used free facilities in York cafes, pubs and library! Regret paying for the year's subscription!

Lovely Family Site

Visited this site several times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wardens are the best we have come across, very friendly, approachable and very hard working not the more common Inspector Blakey jobs worth types. Busy site with many kids around the play area so 5mph is a must as many members don't comply. Bit of background noise from the A64 but not intrusive. The toilet block could do with more showers and needs a wee freshening up but is more than adequate and clean. We will use Beechwood Grange again and would recommend it for visiting York as the Park and Ride is very convenient and there is a large retail park minutes away.

Enjoyable visit

It was our first visit to this site and it won't be that last!  Enjoyed it very much.  Very helpful and friendly staff.  Very good getting the paper everyday and a few basic supplies too.

Week beginning 3 August 2015

Found this to be a very pretty site and the wardens were the nicest we have encountered at any CC site! Lovely approach to the site through the adjacent stud farm - lots of lovely horses and foals. If you like barbecueing, make sure not to park next to the stables as BBQs are not allowed here, close to the stables. Park and Ride for York very convenient and there are adjacent shops, including a supermarket. Only slight problem was that the laundry has only 1 washing machine but the cycle is the usual 29 minutes so didn't have to wait long. Would definitely recommend.

Facilities (Toilet Block)

The toilet block needs to be upgrade and revamped. the entrance to dishwashing is same entrance as Female facilities and can be a bit off putting. Also I think the club need to look at all site regarding pitches for awnings, as I have an awning I try to book a awning pitch but some times they are not available. When you get to site you find that awning pitches are take with caravaners who do not have awnings so people like me can miss out.

perfect site

We love this site. It's a great family park, doggy friendly.  Perfect location for so many attractions. We have been here twice in 3 weeks and most definately be back possibly before the end of this season. The showers are dated but clean. Laundry has good fast machines. The site itself is beautifully kept by the friendly helpful staff. Nice playpark for the kids with a big sports field. The staff had a fun day for the kids which was great and they are hoping to make it a regular thing. Fab doggy field for your furry friends to run about. Huge retail parks 2 minutes drive away for everything you could possibly need and excellent park and ride facilities to take you into the city centre. All in all a fab site that we will use for many years to come.

Beware the SatNav!

SatNav will take you to the now defunct entrance half way down a road. Actual entrance is found on the roundabout with traffic lights! Maybe someone would think of putting a notice up on the road to say where the current entrance is moved to the roundabout???? Simple thing to do, shame nobody has thought of doing it.

Apart from that niggle it is easy to access and is a lovely situation next to a stud farm................ Play area safe and away from caravans near the horse paddocks. ................Busy place as many, as we were, are in transit up, or down, the countryside.............. Staff are helpful, polite and genuinely interested to sort out any problems. Site is clean and well managed. Toilet block is what you would expect from an older CC site, but well maintained considering the usage.........massive outlet centre with shops of food and clothing a couple of miles down the road ALDI for food, BIG Range is good for camping stuff of all sorts including, cutlery, bedding, steps and gas BBQ's!!

I expect that the exposed bits of the site are a bit bleak in winter with the wind blowing across the fields but mainly the gentle hum of traffic is the most downside.
