The site is not that difficult to find although you do need to use a map and be observant at the roundabouts on the ring road. The approach road is wide and easy to drive up. We found the receptionist to be very friendly and helpful. She directed us to pitch 7 which she said was very popular. It is certainly a big pitch and although it is right next to the water points and shower block this may be drawback for those who like peace and quiet first thing in the morning. I found it hard to understand why some people, at 7.00 and 7.30 in the morning, thought it acceptable to carry on a loud conversation on their way past our caravan. Also, don't expect to be able to reverse your caravan into the pitch if the pitches opposite are occupied.
The shower block is always clean and the showers hot and powerful. On the downside it was very busy when we were there and it is the first time I've had to queue for a shower at 9.30 in the morning. More showers needed I think.
Location is great as long as you don't want to walk to a pub/ restaurant (a Toby Carvery is about half a mile away but you'll have to risk crossing the very busy ring road to experience its culinary delights). The park and ride into York is 1.5 miles away and the easiest way to tour this beautiful city. The on site shop stocks essentials if you've forgotten anything.
We were there because I was running the York 10k race and it suited our needs at the time. For a longer stay I don't think it ticks all the boxes with regard to walking to pubs/ restaurants.
Just as caravan sites used to be
It's my first visit on a club site, I was overjoyed to find that this site is just how sites used to be. The wardens were extremely friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and full of hot water. There were loads of service points so even when my nearest one was shut for maintenance the next wasn't too far. The pitches were level and grass looked like it had been combed! We also had local friends with their children pop by who were welcomed onto the site. The play area was also perfect and with a football field what more could my family want. As a mother who had left her husband at home - lots of friendly fellow caravanners to help and chat too. Like I say just how it used to be on campsites. Thanks

central for places of intrest
This is the second time visiting this site the first our caravan decided to not have any electric, the staff were more than helpful could not do enough to help us i thank them for there help. So we went back with grandchildren this time we loved it visited so many places, the park on site was just great my granddaughter made friend . This is a lovely park will be going back again.
Why cant all wardens be like these!
Visited this site many times and enjoy it more each time. The wardens and assistants are The most helpful on the network. They manage to keep the site and block to the highest standard. The signs indicate you cant walk a dog in the lane but it isnt necessary as the dog walk area is large and more than adequate. Chidren love the play area Its a pleasure to watch them.

Lovely Welcome
Arrived at site at a very busy time, however wardens where very welcoming and still found time to help us on our pitch. The site is just outside York and has great access to surrounding attractions.
Wardens attitude
We stayed here with our little dog we tried to walk off the site to a local pub . Warden came along on his tractor he was having a fit on us we couldn't believe is attitude he was going mad. He said u can't walk up the drive with dogs because of the race horses then why the hell do they let dogs on there in the first place. The site wasn't the best toilets weren't very clean we wouldn't even shower in there shouldn't be a caravan club site
Good Allrounder
We have just returned from York Beechwood Grange having spent 4 nights there. The site is very handy for the A64, the York ring road, and the park and ride with supermarket facilities nearby. The Wardens/Assistant Wardens were lovely and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them and it was a pleasure to bump into them at any time. Apart from the fact that you could hear the busy A64 in the distance, the site was quiet and well run. There were ample facilities for dogs and children and although we were near both of these and it was the school holidays we commented on how little we noticed them. One disappointment for us was the lack of walks from the site but we did know about this before we arrived. Overall we had a lovely time and would not hesitate to recommend this site unless you would be troubled by the road noise in the distance.
York long weekend
We stayed for a long weekend on this site and would certainly come back. Staff were very willing to help and advise. The site is in easy driving distance of York centre, or just as easy to drive to the park and ride at Monks Cross and get a bus in. We are looking forward to staying here later this year.
Lovely Site
Second visit to this site within the last 10 months. Very tidy and clean, usual comment that the showers need updating. My only moan was that the dog walk had been allowed to grow a bit wild making it very hard to find dog's mess!! Had to keep an eye on the spot and not the dog so that I could find the location, if you know what I mean. Just don't see the point of that. Very friendly and helpful wardens :)
