Great site

Arrived here on 17th August for 8 nights. It was very busy and we only had 4 pitches to choose from but we found a suitable one and parked sideways on for the first time. It was close to the amenity blocks which was handy. The toilet block was clean enough but looks in need of an overhaul before much longer and there are not really enough shower cubicles when the site is full.  The wardens were great and very helpful if we needed anything. The site is about 15 mins walk to the beach which is breathtaking. The views each way and out to sea are great and the walk to the beach is flat and easy. We loved it here and so did our dogs. There are plenty of places to walk to and lots of lovely scenery in the area. It was all new to us as we have not been to this area before and we will certainly be coming back. The Museum of Flight is well worth a visit. We were lucky and it only rained on one day and we went to Dunbar which is a good town to look around at.

Lack of signage

Great site, but would help immensely if there were small signs at the intersections showing what pitch numbers were in that certain location. We have a smallish motor home but if you had a larger caravan the site is tight to keep looking for pitch numbers. So small signs would be very useful

LOVELY

We loved this site with its quiet spacious pitches . The Toilet and showers are the best yet . The most spacious areas for changing as well . The dog walking field with its secret nature trails is a glorious thing with butterflies galore and a real treasure . The short walk to the beach is so worth it . We also walked the John Muir path into Dirleton which has a superb castle and gardens and the local kirk has the superb stained glass windows with all sorts of nature on them . All worth a visit . The castle Inn is also lovely for food or a drink . We will most definately return .

Great site as usual but kids are putting themselves at risk by crazy cycling

As usual a great site and location near the beach. The rabbit holes are spoiling the look of the site and their mess is everywhere.  The kids staying on the site ride their bikes and scooters so fast that even when you stick at the 5 mph speed for cars, the kids come flying out of junctions and from bushes which could cause a collision. I did hear one warden ask a child to slow down only to be challenged by his parents about their child being challenged, come on parents you need to make sure your child is sesnsible around the site

Beautiful location, but dirty, smelly site.

The site was beautifully located a few minutes walk to a lovely beach. But the site is covered in rabbits (and their mess and the millions of rabbit holes). The shower block was smelly and mouldy. Not pleasant to use. We are not likely to return.

Lovely area

Just spend a lovely relaxing 4 days at yellowcraig. Five minute walk to the beach great for the kids and dog alike. The site wardens need commending for the woof wash! What a fantastic idea and should be rolled out on all club sites. Well done yellowcraig.

Disappointing new play area

We've been going to this site for a few years now with our grandchildren because it had a good play area and is only 10 minutes walk from a great beach with excellent rock pools. Last year, the old play area was dismantled, although there appeared to be nothing wrong with it, and on our recent visit we were really disappointed with the replacement. If we were to follow the age guidelines printed outside the area, my 4 year old grandson was excluded and my 9 year old grandaughter could use only 2 things - a couple of see-saw springy things and two swings with enclosed basket type seats - all of which she is too big for. There is not a single slide (most children love slides and the old area had 2) and no swings with "normal" seats. The play area saw little use in the week we were there in contrast to the old area which was always busy. Very disappointing and we will probably in future take the children to a commercial site which is nearer home and with better facilities.

Comment From The Caravan Club:

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the new play area. We would like to assure you that much thought and consideration was put into the new play area. Unfortunately the old play area was at the end of its life, and refurbishment would have been uneconomical. The brand new play area is for children from ages 18 months to 14 years old, which includes play equipment for under 4 year olds to enjoy. FYI the guidelines state that the swings are for age range 18 months to 3 years old; the bouncer is for 18 months to 6 years old; the spider monkey is for 6 years to 11 years old; the adventure trail is for 6 years to 14 years old, and the cabin is for 18 months to 14 years old.  The play area may not appear as busy as the previous one, but the children now also have "The Den" as an added attraction so some of the children will be also playing here. We have received excellent feedback from families on site and it has been very much enjoyed by the younger people it is designed for, so we are really sorry to read you do not feel this is the case.

Lovely area

Just spent a 4 night stay at Yellow Graigs.  Was not happy about the uneven ground, due to many Mole hills, which had been flattened but left large dips, it made it difficult to keep the dinning table level within our Awning.  The sight could really do with an upgrade to more Hard standing pitches, and also Fully Serviced pitches.  It is such a lovely part of the country and we did enjoy our time there.

Beach holiday

Just returned from Yellowcraig, spent 12 days there with 3 of our grandchildren. It is our third visit and we were in the raised area near to reception. On this occasion we visited the new play area which I found totally inadequate for young children it has been upgraded but not suitable for under 8, should have a slide and roundabout. Very noisy in the morning due to wardens working; so definitely no lie ins. Would return but wouldn't  pitch anywhere near reception. Facilities excellent wardens very friendly and helpful. So good and bad.

Many thanks for leaving a review. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the new play area. For future reference, there are five pieces of play equipment in the all new play area: the swings are for age range 18 months to 3 years old; the bouncer is for 18 months to 6 years old; the spider monkey is for 6 years to 11 years old; the adventure trail is for 6 years to 14 years old, and the cabin is for 18 months to 14 years old. This information is available on the signage by the play area. We hope this helps and look forward to hopefully greeting you again soon on site.

Peace and quiet within reach of Edinburgh

Lovely site, set in grassy informal areas. Very quiet, great area for the children to explore, ideal for birdwatching and walks.  Wardens were very helpful and informative with a great sense of humour. We just used it as a base for going into Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival, but it would have been nice to have spent time exploring the area . Hopefully we can come back and put that right. The only downside was the smell from spraying the fields in the area, but that wasn't down to the site.
