Handy for the beach

We stayed on this site for four nights during the  second week in August Whilst it was the height of the school holidays and the site contained a large number of families with children the layout of the site was such that we could park our van in a quiet spot where we were not disturbed. The facilities on site were clean and adequate for such a large site. The  only draw back is the one  toilet block is centrally located and is some distance from certain parts of the site and for the less able caravanner it means having to use  a car to be able to use the. Just a short walk away is a wonderful beach Which makes it all worth while. One drawback at the time of our visit the farmer on adjoining fields was spraying pig manure on the fields which caused quite an obnoxious odour and wasn't very pleasant. The wardens were friendly and always willing to help if they were needed.  All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Fantastic location great for dog owners

Spent four nights on this sight in early August 2015. My first impression was a little sceptical. Long grassed banks creating boundaries between sections of the site.  After reviewing site informtion these banks were part of the sites Eco system for the local wildlife.  After hooking up etc. we then found out where the nearest beach was located.  We took Our two dogs back out the entrance and took a left over the grass car park. Through the woods  we went and found ourselves on a stunning beach with the island of fedra off shore.  This island was the inspiration for RL Stephenson to write treasure island in the 1800's.  It is uninhabited and has the first unmanned  lighthouse  in the UK sitting proudly upon it.  The beach allow dogs which was a massive bonus especially during the summer months.  Over the next few days I walked a part of the john Muir way which cuts through the woods and joins Dunbar with Glasgow.  Also take a right when on the beach  and walk to the lovely town of North Berwick 2.5 miles away. The wardens on site were very helpful and I would recommend this lovely site to All members with dogs who love a good walk with stunning Beach scenery.  Best beach site we have visited The lovely weather ( only rained overnight ) was also a bonus. Doggy heaven

We are frequent visitors to Yellowcraig with our spaniels and motorhome. Dog walk, adjacent to the site entrance, is well maintained and large enough the dogs can be exercised off lead. The pathways etc. are kept well maintained and there's plenty of bushy areas and long grass for exploring. The beach is just offsite with no doggy restrictions other than the obvious one, bins are provided. A handy pathway leads to Dirleton village and the Castle Inn approx. 1 mile away, which allows pooches in the lovely beer garden out the back. Nice meals but quite pricey. Only downside, for us, is the lack of mobile phone signal on O2 and no internet at all. Just our opinion of course but in this day and age we feel all the club sites should really have internet provision.

great holiday

We have just returned from 2 weeks at Yellowcraig Caravan Club Site  and we had a great time. The site is quite large but it doesn't feel that way as the vans are pooled into smaller groups hidden from each other by vegetation. Facilities are good and the shop and wardens are top notch. The beach was close by and easily accessed as well ad really good dog walks and a play area just outside the main gate. North Berwick is close and  as well as being a lovely sea side town full of my childhood memories, is the beginning of an easy train journey to Edinburgh. Bus service is also good. The only down side of our holiday, (and this has nothing to do with the site which can not be held responsible) was the farmer next to the site spreading the most appalling smelling foul liquid from 7 in the morning for the last 4 days of our stay. This would wake us and linger for the whole day. Nothing the site could do about this. We would recommend this site any time.

Nice site but needs some updating

We've stayed at this site several times over the past 2 years and our most recent stay was in July this year for 4 nights. The site wardens are very friendly, helpful and do an excellent job of running the site. The site is well maintained but there are a few areas that need attention and updating outside of normal maintenance work. 1) Several of the awning pitches need repairing. The grass pitch we were on was very rutted and uneven. 2) The service road connecting the inner pitches needs to be repaired and/or tarmac'd as there as some large ruts in this area. 3) The toilet block needs updating and modernising. The site is in a good location and only a 5 min walk to a lovely beach which on a nice day, you can walk along all the way to North Berwick (about 2 1/2 miles). North Berwick is a really nice town with nice cafe's and a really good fish and chip shop (The Berwick Fryer). The harbour area is really nice and not much beats sitting at the harbour on a glorious summer evening eating your fish & chips!! In summarising: This is a good site and would recommend it, although it could be better if The Club invested some money in it!

A nice end to our travels

Lovely site, well kept a bit windy by the sea amazing dog walk!  Make sure you don't arrive before 12 as reception is closed between 10 and 12 (I'm sure the lady said it is on the booking information but we must have missed it, wasn't really an issue as we needed to pop to the shops so un hooked on the late arrivals area and by the time we got back it was open)  very clean showers didn't have any issue alway hot water.  beach only 2 mins walk

Great Family Site

We visited the Yellowcraig site with our grand children and loved the site. All the facilities were all of the best standard, clean and well maintained. The toilet block was clean, warm with plenty of hot water. If you are bringing your dog with you, this site has one of the best dog walking areas I've seen. As for location, easy to get to with a good access road to the site. The beach is within walking distance from the site with toilets and a excellent park on route. This is truly a wonderful site and well worth a visit, can't recommend enough.

First visit

This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed with the area. Fantastic for walking the dogs on the beach and along the many footpaths. It was a bit unfortunate we picked the school holidays so many children allowed to run loose on the site without parental control. Runing and riding bikes past the vans and cars. This was our only disappointment but we will be back but not in the school holidays. The wardens were very good one was continually collecting the mole hills with his barrow, when i asked did they have a market for second hand mole hills and what they did with them his reply was the rabbits dig holes for them!!!

Nice site apart from the rabbits

We stayed for 4 nights and on arrival everyone was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay, lovely walks and beautiful beach. The only problem we had with the site was the rabbits and their droppings which got everywhere, in our caravan and car despite cleaning the step everyday. On arriving home we had to thoroughly clean the car, the caravan, and hose down all of our ancilliaries that were outside. The site has signs all over saying to watch out for the rabbit holes however we found the droppings the bigger problem and were unavoidable.

Home from home

We love yellowcraig site. We are regular visitors both as a couple and with our 3 grandchildren. The toilet block is cosy and spotlessly clean. I accept that there is no wifi but actually it is quite relaxing getting away from emails etc. the close proximity to a wonderful beach is ideal and the local area is great for a family holiday. We make use of the discount vouchers for days out which make visiting the national museum of flight, seabird centre and Britannia great value. Looking forward to our next trip to yellowcraig as are our grandchildren...
