Not a good start but a brilliant ending

First the bad!\We had read on a previous review if you wanted hard standing book a pitch with an awning space. We didnโ€™t realise that still doesnโ€™t guarantee you a hard standing pitch. Having booked on line thereโ€™s no way of knowing. We had not been before. When we arrived lateish on the Friday before the bank holiday we were told take any pitch with a white peg. After driving our large Motorhome around and around looking for hard standing I called the office to ask if there were any left. I was assured there were plenty and a list was rhymed off. Again no mention of not being hard standing. After driving around again by this time feeling like we wanted to just go home we clicked the pitches were all grassy. I got out went to ask and thatโ€™s the case. You can get hard standing... if thereโ€™s any left! We took a pitch 106 on grass. This site is not like other CMHC sites we have visited. So cramped. Definitely not enough room for a car awning and caravan on some of these pitches. We were lucky the people around us were lovely and parked their car on the wrong side, diagonally in the area that belonged to a different Motorhome. Weโ€™ve never been allowed to park wrong way around before. Like the previous reviewer we also saw some people having to park across the pitch as there wasnโ€™t enough room. Never again we thought! But after we took our dog down to the beach we had changed our minds. The Good. The beach, stretches for miles in both directions. Gorgeous views. Lovely walking to North Berwick and to charming Dirleton with its beautiful castle. There is plenty for visitors in the surrounding areas. The John Muir way path runs from just outside the camp. It is a dogs idea of heaven. Thereโ€™s a brilliant woodland park for kiddies as well. The little cul de sac area we were in on site was lovely full of different bird life. We had already booked to go back and are looking forward to it although we will hold our breath when choosing a pitch and cross fingers we have nice neighbours as we will no doubt be cuddled up very close with them! :)

Great week of peacew and quiet

Just returned from a great week at Yellowcraig. We use this site site at least once a year and everytime thoroughly enjoy a week of peace and quiet. This time was time was excatly as we wanted it. Apart from a few rain showers over night most days were dry and even a few over the holiday weekend were very warm and great for walking along the beach, which is only a 2 minute walk from the site, and the dogs appreciated cooling off in the sea.. Facilitites as usual were spotlessly clean and well maintained. The site wardens were all new this time round and all very friendly, cheery and happy to help out whenever required. The phone signal is not great but that is part of getting away and using this site, for peace and quiet. We are already planning a return visit for later this year as part of a stop off when heading off on our main tour. Keep up the good work and look forward to many more relaxing weeks to come.

disapointing visit

stayed here a few years ago location remains fantastic great beach and lovely walk into north Berwick site is now run down grass around pitches very long the whole site looked dirty football going on all day and night in front of wardens kids even lighting sticks on barbeque and running around site no wifi or phone signal just outside wardens office toilet/shower block very dated and unclean pitches very close with some pitches having to pitch sideways felt cramped in this site is not up to standards of caravan club standards it needs to be closed updated and pitches made safe wifi and phone signal needs to be addressed felt like a commercial site make as much money on cramped pitches with everyone being able to do what they want very unsafe site would not return

Lovely site

Weโ€™ve just had the most relaxing week ever in the caravan at this lovely site. The site wardens were the most friendly easy going we have come across, and the site offers a bit of everything pitch wise Beach is few mins walk away and a great place to collect firewood I assume a pack of timber fell off a ship in the forth and has washed up on the sands, it wonโ€™t spoil your time there as most of the locals have had it away ! 1st time over the border for the better half and we both enjoyed this gem of a site Thanks ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Lovely, peaceful site. Perfect for walks & relaxation.

Lovely, clean, well maintained site. Friendly wardens. The showers were great (only 1 shower at far end of the ladies with low pressure, rest were perfect). I know some struggled with signal here but I had no problems on my phone, TV or radio so it isn't completely cut off. It's the perfect location for walks on the beach with the kids & dogs (5 mins walk to beach). Good play park on site & just off site on way to beach. North Berwick is minutes away in car & a lovely place to stroll through, with lots of places for eating. There are also good places to visit nearby like Museum of Flight, Tantallon Castle and you are also not far from Edinburgh. Also the fish & chip van that comes on site on a Saturday was good, not dry & overpriced like some places, so it's good for a treat when just arriving and setting up & not having to think about making dinner. We were here for 8 nights & I would definitely come back. It's a lovely, peaceful place.

Time to Relax

From the welcome from the wardens to the facilities the whole experience led to a relaxing time! Must admit that I was beaten to being the first happy camper of the season! North Berwick is not far away with a wealth of small shops, restaurants and a harbour to explore. in the summer there are boat trips to see the gannets, puffins and other seabirds on the Bass Rock. The Scottish Museum of Flight is worth a visit even if you only have a passing interest! Edinburgh is handy which is essential for me as there are times I might have to rush back to our house! Yellowcraigs is far enough away to be a complete relaxation!

Wonderful stay

Recently enjoyed a lovely 4 night stay here. The site is very well kept, clean and tidy. We received a very friendly welcome and had our choice of pitch. Being early in the season there were plenty to choose from and the site was quiet. This site is in a great location, close to beach and woodland walks so perfect for dogs. This is a lovely area with plenty to see and do and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as did Mabel our dog. We'll definitely return.

Wonderful - NO RADIO

We stayed here for a couple of nights, and were not disappointed. Although no hard standing pitches were available, the pitch we chose (out of the very limited options) was about as level as you could expect. The site is greatly located for visiting North Berwick, and the beach. The facilities were clean, however the showers were not great. We would certainly contemplate staying again in the future. No radio

Another Super Visit

Stayed at Yellowcraig for 10 days, combining a holiday with some work we were doing in Penicuik. This is our 3rd stay at this site and won't be our last. Wonderful location next to miles of beach and the John Muir way, ideal for dogs. It has a great on site dog walk (just wish all owners would be responsible and clean up after their dogs). The site is well maintained and the site staff are friendly and efficient, can't give them a high enough review. Looking forward to our next stay.
