The way things use to be?

Getting here – straightforward and no issues with a 7.5m motorhome. Arrival – lovely friendly and warm greeting (even in these times). Everything clearly explained, could not fault anything. The site – This is where the title comes from. There are no shops nearby, the nearest pub is biking distance or a decent walk away. Yes there is an airfield next door, so you do get helicopter noise (planes hardly make any) and I have stayed here over a sunny weekend, so probably the busiest the airfield gets? But, this evening we had a couple of Buzzards? Flying directly over the site which were very impressive, so you take the rough with the smooth. Things to do - Plenty of walks and bike rides around, I even cycled into London and survived! What’s special about the site? I don’t know, but there is something. It sorts of reminds me of camping and caravaning with my parents when I was a child. Seems small, but is well laid out and just seems, well, just seems perfect? You need to come and visit to see what I’m trying to explain, badly. But I for one, will most definitely be back. Thank you for a very enjoyable weekend stop over.

Excellent facilities, well managed

This site is very well managed and maintained. Excellent showers, dishwashing sinks and laundry room. Easily-accessed clean water taps, waste water disposal and chemical toilet disposal. It is close to Denham Aerodrome, so there is regularly the noise of helicopters and light aircraft during the day but it's very quiet overnight.

Lovely site, nice dog walk next door, not totally peaceful at weekends

A lovely site, small and quiet, no children's play area so suits old geezers like us who want to leave noisy children behind (whatever happened to "seen but not heard"?). Close to major roads for access to London, but you hear no traffic noise at all. The site management are very helpful and the facilities are well maintained and clean. All as you would hope to find on a club site. The woodland nature reserve just to the south of the site is a lovely dog walk, and there are cafes and so on nearby. Aircraft noise......is restricted to daylight hours, but the site is no more than 200 metres from the flight path for small aircraft landing. It is clearly an enthusiastic club, on the first weekend in January at least 30-40 planes landed, coming in at about 100 feet above the fields next to the woods next door. Not in itself an issue, and quite fun watching them. It is only small single engined aircraft, not noisy, but if you wanted total peace and quiet it won't be for you. However, the helicopters are quite another matter. For some reason they seem to take off from the corner of the airfield right by the site, and seem to feel the need to run their engines for a number of minutes first. And those engines are about three times as noisy as the planes. So, in summary, if you are planning on being out all day doing stuff, it's no problem, but in mid-summer they may well be flying all evening too, so it you are planning on staying on site your peace will be somewhat disturbed. One other thing to bear in mind - you MUST approach the site from the south, from junction 16 of the M25, ie the M40. The approach from the north, your sat nav makes you take Tilehouse Lane, which is potholed, rutted and about a foot wider than your caravan - wing and a prayer time if you meet another caravan tower coming the other way.

Nice tidy site

We liked this site for it's tucked away location and ease of access to the M25. The site itself was really clean and tidy and the wardens very friendly. There's walks from the site towards the grand union canal and the Colne valley park which we would have liked to explore more than we did. We look forward to visiting this site again at a warmer time of the year !

Great Break on way Home

I've always wanted to visit Denham especially as it's so near the airfield to keep us entertained, but it's so near home. Managed to check in on a Friday for a couple of nights on the way back from the Midlands which meant we avoided the dreaded M25 on a Friday afternoon. We had a wonderful warm welcome on arrival from the wardens suggested a pitch as we were towing a car on a trailer and were a bit big. Their suggestion was perfect with everything fitting perfectly on the pitch, wardens know best! There is quite a bit of aircraft movements at the weekend which was great, but weather was not the best so never actually made it up to the airfield. Did enjoy chilling out and relaxing inside. Will definitely be back in better weather next time.

Weekend away at LEGOLAND

We booked up for LEGOLAND as a last minute birthday surprise for our son, the site is located about half hour away from there. On arrival the staff were very warm and welcoming, and even helped with a problem we had with our van, as well as helping to locate a local restaurant. We found it easy to get to and the kids loved the aircraft coming and going. The site was very well looked after and could not have wanted more for just a quick weekend away. We will definitely be looking to come back to visit the surrounding areas again.

Lovely five day break in the London area.

We have visited this site before and find it extremely convenient for travel into London.£4-50 for a day parking at the station and less than £15-00 return for the two of us with railcard .Whats not to like! The site is beautifully maintained and the facilities spotless, although the block could have been warmer and we could certainly lose the piped music. The wardens are super, very friendly and helpful. We tour with a 55 year old Caravan and this is always a talking point with wardens. The wardens very kindly held a parcel at reception for one of our club members to collect on the Sunday afternoon as we were at a gig in Putney. Certainly there is aircraft noise during the day but if ,like us ,you are away in the daytime its not a problem. Perhaps not a site for members who just want to stay around the site and read or doze! Overall a great stay and we would certainly recommend and return.

Nice Site but only for a short stay

Lovely site but pitches allocated on arrival but when we asked for a different pitch there was no problem. There had been a number of bike thefts so lockers are available to store you bikes in, however it is not easy to get you bike in and out of the locker. Although we were going to stay for a number of nights we decided to move on. Although the floors were mopped in some areas the toilets were not cleaned. Uxbridge and the surrounding area is not relaxing but ideal if you want to visit central London. The relief wardens were very nice but I don’t think we will return 👎

Great site for a short stay

Wyatts Covert is a compact and very tidy site, reasonably accessible from the M40 and M25. We used it to break our journey from Somerset to North Hertfordshire, which worked well. Warden's friendly and helpful. The toilet block in particular was exceptionally well appointed. Good information prominently posted for trips into London.

First C&MHC site

We are new to caravanning and to the Caravan & Motorhome Club and stopped here for 2 nights en route to Brighton. We were right to follow the direction from the website rather than the sat nav. Ian and Pat were very helpful, especially understanding we were newbies and suggesting the best pitch to reverse our caravan into. It was alongside the road and there was slight noise from infrequent traffic & the adjacent aerodrome but it didn't put us off. The facilities were exceptionally clean. We shopped at Tesco in Gerrards Cross and also at the Co-op in Denham Green itself. We parked in Uxbridge and travelled by tube into London. There was a car park on a roundabout entering Uxbridge advertised at £6 a day but because it was Sunday it was only £4. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the station. There is not much for teenagers but they were happy to be on their gadgets all the time. We were impressed to see the grass being cut with a grass box on the lawn mower. So many campsites leave the cuttings which get trodden into the units and facilities.
