Very Nice Site but have some reservations.

We stayed at this site for a week so I think my review is a fair one. The site is as you would expect well laid out with clean toilets and good shower facilities. The location speaks for itself,if you've never been to this part of the world then give it a try. The Gamekeepers Inn next door on the static site does very good food we ate there on a number of occasions. Now the reservations- we found the pitches large but ours was uneven and even with rock pegs had great difficulty getting the awning pegged out after the first two inches it was solid. I put this down to the fact that the pitches have compacted over time, they really need looking at it terms of leveling them up and relaying so that the hardstanding is suitable for pegging.Whilst there we had a windy storm and the pegs were being pulled out. It was clear that some new wardens have recently taken over the as when we arrived the other wardens were handing over. My advice would be to the new wardens be happy in what you do I understand its new and your busy but it costs nothing to be civil, personally I found them hard work. All in all we had a great week its not the best club site Ive been to but with a little bit of work it could be,the location is stunning. So in summary visit this site you wont be disappointed but be prepared with your mallet,C4 or some other explosive to get those rock pegs in.

A must visit site!

Great site, fantastic location and pitches. Area surrounding is beutiful. Only suggestion would be slightly clearer signs when approaching the site, I was doubtful it was the correct entrance at first as it’s the same road as other leisure parks. General comments for a lot of club sites, make it easy for us when we approach as generally will have had a long and tiring drive!

One of the best sites we’ve used

Spotless warm showers and plenty of them , the best we’ve seen. Wardens very helpful and efficient on booking in , they let you chose your pitch then go back and tell them , that’s when you get your key to allow you back in through the barrier!! Perfect position for walking into Grassington, local Spar very well stocked Take your swimming stuff , the leisure centre and spa are excellent , ladies book a treat you’ll love it. We enjoyed it so much we booked an extra two nights . It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for ..we'll be back

Lovely peaceful site

We enjoyed our weekend at this peaceful site. Check in was efficient and friendly. There are grass and hardstanding pitches, well spaced apart. The toilet facilities were good, but only one block so make sure you know the times it is closed for cleaning. We had a lovely walk to Grassington and Linton falls. A paddle in the river and a stop at a dog friendly coffee shop on the way back. There is an excellent Supermarket close by and a lovely pub just on the next door static caravan site. Will definitely revisit.

Bank Holiday Weekend

First time that we have visited the site since the revamp of the toilet block. I do accept that the toilet block of old needed a revamp but come on Caravan and Motorhome Club. Please use a bit of imagination. The facilities are kept in pristine condition but they are an updated version of the 'Club' standard. Showers are adequate in size. However, the facilities available to users including those at the site next door are excellent. The food in the pub is of a good standard. The walk to Grassington takes about 30 minutes and is worth the effort. We will certainly revisit the site because of the lovely location.

Lovely stay at Wharfdale, but

Wharfdale is a lovely site with plenty of walks and lots to do and see. The Wardens, as always work very hard and keep the site toilets etc in excellent condition even walking around the site to pick up any litter inadvertently dropped by members. Our stay as ever was most enjoyable. However I have two hopefully constructive criticisms. The first applies to the refurbished Toilets and to most sites. The number of WC’s in the Gents is totally inadequate. I often found two people queueing in the morning to use the WC. When the site is full and the club seem to have got the ratios wrong. Less wash cubicles and urinals and at least two more WC’s on a site like this please! The second is why, Oh why, did the club cut down and not replace all the shrubs and hedges that helped to screen parts of the site from other parts. The far end of the site is now six solid rows of caravans dotted by the odd tree. This cannot have helped the wildlife! Please replace the shrubs and hedges. Otherwise a lovely site with excellent refurbished facilities which is well worth a visit.

Clean and very friendly site

We left Norfolk and got on our way to this lovely site in the Yorkshire Dales. We had visited many years ago but I understand it has been refurbished. First off it was a very busy site but we managed to find a lovely pitch backing on to the stone wall near to the facilities block. I think we were lucky to get this pitch and would not have been happy with one of the middle field ones because they looked like they had no privacy at all. The wardens were friendly and helpful. We went over and had a ride on the North York Moors steam train to Whitby but we did get a B & B as we hadn’t thought about how far it was from this site! Due to mobility problems we couldn’t have done it all in one day! Beautiful site and would return if in this neck of the woods again.

Great Site, High Standards Though Out. But.........

Whalfedale is a great site but an old old issue surfaced again. Why are both toilet units ,Male and Female closed at the same time leaving the single service toilet to cope with the numbers of people leaving on a Bank holiday morning. Male unit cleaned but left closed as female unit closed for cleaning. Long queue before a long drive for a lot of people. Not the best consideration of customers needs.

Great again!

Our 4th visit to Wharfedale and 1st since the refurb. Great job done by CAMC and much improved facilities although the old ones were ok in my opinion. Wardens were friendly, approachable and always working hard. My only niggle which is often mentioned is the speed used by vehicles on site, bollards and a lighting pole were knocked over by one driver not paying attention on the bottom corner of the site. Another bug bear is 'off lead' dogs! Not sure why rules only apply to some of us and not others. In plain view of wardens as well so no point in complaining to them as they obviously weren't bothered. Well stocked shop in reception for basic provisions and treats. Over all a great 3 night visit to start off our 10 night tour of Yorkshire and Durham.

Lovely and Clean but Where have the Bushes Gone

I stayed here for 2 nights recently. Very pleasant wardens and a beautifully kept site in a great location, especially if you have dogs and like the countryside. It does however, look a little regimented with the vans in 3 straight rows and there is only one large, central toilet block so if the weather is very cold and/or raining and you are at the far end of the site then it is quite a long walk to use the facilities or to do the washing up. One wonders why, when the site was revamped, they did not add another toilet block (as they have at the Brecon site). It is also rather open if you are pitched in the middle of the site as there are no bushes at all to shelter you from the wind or from the view of your neighbours if you are sat outside. That being said, it is an attractive and very pleasant site.
