Fantastic Site For New Year Visit

We spontaneously booked Troutbeck Head for 3 nights over New Year, in late December. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile by one of the Wardens and were promptly checked in. The site itself is an an incredibly peaceful area of the Lake District. Perfect if you don't want the hustle and bustle of the Keswick area. There are no shops local (apart from Cocklakes Farm Shop) so be prepared to travel to Keswick or Penrith if you need to buy supplies. Troutbeck Head was well kept, and the facilities were great. All credit no doubt, to the hard work of the site team. There is a nice dog walk from the south of the site leading to Matterdale Forest. It was lovely even cold windy days. Apart from one isolated incident of fireworks, and a rental motorhome full of drunk loud Scots (who had no doubt come south of the border to avoid Nicola Sturgeon's draconian restrictions) the site was relaxed and peaceful. We wouldn't let the isolated incidents above put us off, and we will definitely be booking again.
