Fantastic site

Fantastic site with great facilities and a view to die for, only down side to many people arrive MUCH to early and put to much pressure on the wardens. To be honest a victim of its own success, but definitely worth a visit. Don't be to disappointed if you don't get a good pitch as you can take part in the "Trewethett Tango".......swapping pitches, good fun, be on the prowl early if you want to swap though. Loved the location....

Beautiful Location

You can't beat the view on the drive in. On this site there are the most amazing places to pitch on hard standing but it is very busy and choice was limited. That would be why people are there lining up to get in. We booked hard standing but the choice of what was left was poor so we opted for the field. The walk from the site to Tintagel is hard walking. The bus is good. Tintagel has 2 good pubs with lovely gardens and the bus out is about 12 and back is at 4.20pm if you want a bit of shopping a meal and a glass of wine.

Amazing views

What a great site with fantastic views. Wardens were great and managed the site very well but some people push their luck. It is a difficult site to turn around especially at the lower end cul de sacs so listen to the wardens. Arrival time is after 12 so why were people come down the access road at 10 and then grumble that they are made to wait. The wardens have to manage 100s of customers so be patient. Can't comment on the porta showers, did not use them but the main block was immaculate. Maybe sometime additional facilities could be provided it is a large popular site. Good bus routes into Tintagel and all other towns, just wait at the top of the road they will stop. Give it a go and relax your on holiday.

lovely location BUT

we have just come back from 13days at this site and the views are just as we remembered them 2years ago when we last visited. The porta cabin loo and showers are in need of upgrading and that hasn't changed either its looking very tired now. We had a few issues with wardens who were unhelpful and seemed unable to cope with the pressure of running this site, and that has changed too. They were all lovely last time.

Message from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We regret to hear that you did not feel the quality of the site was up to standard.  We can assure you that we are all very experienced wardens and would welcome you to contact us directly if you wish to discuss your experience in further detail. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to experience the high standard of service we have become known for.

Sincerely,

Trewethett Farm

Great Site with space for improvement

Great site which could be improved by additional SP's at the lower points of the site. The incline to the SP's for older members can be difficult. Great wardens and great views still make this site a real gem.

Great site

This is a lovely site, best things are the setting and access to the coast path. We chose a pitch on the edge of the site, which was great as it didn't feel as if we were on a big site. The downside was that it was a longish walk to the shower block and washing up area. The shower block is clean with plenty of showers and cubicles with basins. The shop is small for the size of the site, runs out of Cornish pasties very quickly! A price to pay for the cliff top location is the high winds! We had a sleepless night during a storm and took the awning down the next day. Perhaps this could be mentioned in the site description. The site is described as having access to a sandy beach. This isn't true. I assume they mean Bossiney Cove, which is a strenuous walk from the site, as Rocky Valley is between, a very steep climb down then up again. To access the beach you need to drive to Bossiney then walk down from there. We walked to Tintagel and Boscastle from the site along the coast path, lovely walks but strenuous. The coastline is beautiful, very rugged. Our favourite place is Trebarwith Strand, 2 miles south of Tintagel, a lovely little village with a sandy beach at low tide, well worth visiting, though car park very expensive.

Those Views!!!

The site must have some of the best views of the Cornish Coast there is! The Wardens were not particularly helpful when we were lost using the directions from the CC website which we printed off before our journey and appeared to contradict those in the Handbook. We Were only a mile or so away when we rang to ask for directions only to be told " I am not familiar with the area". We were only a mile away!! The facilities are first class and kept immaculate as is the site in general. I did like the well organised pitch choosing idea given the difficult site layout, I thought it was an excellent method. Both Boscastle and Tintagel are worth a visit but unfortunately due to the poor weather we did not get much further in our three days at this site.

Lovely place to stay

Great place to stay, as new member we have always found the wardens very helpful and the fact that you can pick your own site is a great plus.  The views from the site are amazing and by walking around the site prior to moving your van was worth the effort and there are many dead ends!Fellow campers /motorhomes owners were friendly and gave some tips for places to visit.  Great views and lovely coastal walks to local places of interest. Worth the visit and definitely will be back for another visit very soon.

Fantastic site!!!

A fantastic site!! It's clean, has amazing views, fantastic staff and great space. This is THE best site ever!!! The location is also great and easily accessible to the local towns of Boscastle and Tintagel on foot. We spent a week here this month and my parents then came and spent a week here and loved it too! Without doubt this is my favourite site, so much so we've booked again for August for another week. Thanks to the nicest staff for such a lovely stay on the nicest site!

Fabulous cliff top views

We recently stayed on Trewethett Farm for six nights and had really good weather. On arriving, we were told to walk around the site to select our pitch as there are loads of cul-de-sacs. This is no mean feat as its a large site and uphill! We asked a warden about using awnings on site and he recommended a grass pitch on the top field as members had been bending rock pegs on hard standings. Thank goodness we took his advice. We had an amazing view of the sea and sea cliffs opposite the bay from our pitch, a view that was constantly changing. We only had one really good sunset, but that was worth waiting for. The site itself is terrassed on the hard standing areas, but the sea view pitches are taken quite quickly. The toilet block that serves this end of the site is up to usual Club standards and is well maintained by the friendly and helpful wardens. The grass pitches are served by a "portakabin" style set of showers and toilets which, while clean and well maintained, are very "tight" in use and not of the same standard as the other block. There are good walks from the site along the coastal path, but beware of the "giants steps" if you head towards Boscastle. Oh, and while you are there, make sure you sample the pasties from Pengenna pasty shop in Tintagel where you watch them being freshly made. They are the best we tasted on our trip around Cornwall .... so far!
