A magnificent site - spoiled by its users

This site is amongst my favourite top three of those I have visited. Magnificent views, astounding area, stunning pitches. But all that glitters is not gold. Sadly it is being spoiled by irresponsible dog owners. Be advised that I love dogs - big and small. But I have no wish to watch them defecating whilst I am sitting eating my breakfast / lunch / dinner. Will the better and more considerate dog owners PLEASE educate the less responsible ones that it is not acceptable repeatedly to let the dog do its business on their pitch / their neighbour's pitch / an empty pitch or the middle of the road? The fact that it may then be ceremoniously scooped up and disposed of is irrelevant. There are plenty of walks and a specific dog walk nearby for that purpose - I know that not all dogs cannot be made to 'do it on demand' and that accidents will happen, but increasingly, I find that no attempt is made to encourage the dog to use that facility. I don't wish to see this bodily function performed whilst I'm eating - or indeed at any time. Make the effort - take the dog for a walk - let them do it - clean it up - and we're all happy. Sadly too, pitched as we were near the entry / exit barrier, we witnessed frequent disregard for the 5 mph rule. With most modern cars 5 mph = first gear. All too frequently, we witnessed second and sometimes third gear being achieved long before the entering car passed the toilet block. No excuse drivers - and wardens cannot be expected to be there at all times, nor indeed to act on any reports by other users. They're not the police - we shouldn't need policing! But a radar trap on that stretch would reveal interesting data. More signage? I wouldn't want to see it and it shouldn't be needed - but what else can be done? Review should be 5 x 5 stars but the foregoing detracts from the maximum score. Magnificent and magical site - spoiled by the very people who should be caring for it.

A favourite site

Stayed here for 4 nights this July as part of a tour of the south west. Right on a cliff top it has absolutely gorgeous views of the Atlantic. The weather was really good and we enjoyed the coastal path walks to Tintagel and Boscastle. Site is clean and pitches are great, only downside was the porta cabin toilet block at the upper end of the site which I'm sure last year was described as temporary. Dog walk on site is a small fenced field, so adequate. Would always return to this site if visiting Cornwall

Outstanding in every way!

So we COULDN'T WAIT to return for the 2nd consecutive year to Trewethett Farm Caravan Club Site! ?? -Arrival ... very welcoming staff ... staff continued to be friendly and helpful! See my closing comment below. -Views ... STUNNING! I never tired of gazing out to sea, even during moody weather, as lighting was spectacular! -Location ... loved the area... could spend a week or more there without even getting back in the car ... directly on the coastal path ... local walks to Rocky Valley, Bossiney Bay (including Elephant Rock and neighbouring bays, accessible at low tide), Boscastle and Tintagel. By car ... Trebarwith Strand (beach at low tide but awesome wave bashing at ANY time of day, with cafe, restaurant and giftshops) and further a field ... plenty of information available on the site. Try the Farm Shop at Boscastle ... food to buy, consume (FRESH AND DELICIOUS ... gluten free and other dietary needs catered for) and gifts available ... short walk to a waterfall directly from the farm shop, although steep with many steps. ETC ETC -Fish and chips takeaway on site Sunday and Thursday evenings. -Site extremely well kept... grass mowed daily in those areas and pitches that become available ... friendly waves, smiles and conversations from the grass mowers ... thank you ... you always obliged!  Facililites ... the only aspect that did not receive 5 stars, not fuel to cleanliness but thew 3nd block, obviously added to accommodate, is basic, all-be-them absolutely spotless!  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to ALL THE staff who went beyond the call of duty, without hesitation, and in fact added to the overall aesthetics of the most beautiful site on which we've EVER stayed. We'll be back!

Great Location

A great location with views out to sea. The main toilet block is good, the temporary one is not what we have come to expect from the club. Shame about the aggressive and unpleasant wardens who are unnecessarily pedantic and seem to be looking for things to pick on.

Great spot

We stayed at Trewethett Farm for two nights in mid-July 2016. Our pitch was number 12, in a field set back from the cliff-edge. The site is clean and well-maintained, the view is exceptional and we never got tired of gazing out at the sea and watching the wildlife. The facilities were spotless and never too busy. The wardens were very helpful, giving us tips on where to stop off on our coast path walk. There is plenty to do in the local area and we would definitely return to this site to explore further. The only slight downside to our pitch was that it backed on to the garden of a holiday cottage and for one night the occupants there were quite noisy but that didn't ruin our enjoyment of what was an otherwise great site. Remember to take levelling ramps, most of the pitches are on a slight slope.

Spectacular views at Trewethett Farm

We stayed for nearly three weeks in July and this site did not disappoint. Fabulous views, beautiful walks ( towards Tintagel quite strenuous ). Super site shop with delicious scones etc. Lovely welcome and service by the ladies in the reception. Very good toilet block and we thought the site was kept well. Wonderful coast but make sure your awning is well secured as wind reached 40 mph one night. Such a shame one of the Wardens was so rude and arrogant which was very upsetting as we have never encountered this on any site in approx 18 years with the Caravan Club.

As expected of a Club Site

This is a good site that generally meets the high standards of a typical club site, but I wouldn't say it was one of the best we have stayed at. The location is impressive, although most places of interest are not particularly close. The site is well maintained and the facilities are clean and plentiful. The wifi is unreliable, even for checking emails and light internet navigation. This is something common with the Club, rather than the site itself. I don't think we will be visiting again, but we can see why some people adore the place and visit often.

Disappointing pitch allocation

Definitely one of the best club sites, beautiful views, exceptional clean facilities and very peaceful. We stayed on this site the last week of July and enjoyed every second, the only slight problem for us was the allocation of pitches, arrival time is supposed to be after 12, we arrived at about 11.30 to find 3 other caravans already queuing, after paying and receiving our paperwork we were asked to wait by our caravan to be told when we could look for a pitch, other caravans continued to arrive, by the time we were allowed in to choose a pitch there must have been about 10 families waiting, it was then everyone rushed in frantically trying to save the best pitches, resulting in some confrontation with others about which pitch they should have. Not ideal ! Maybe it would be better to let people in one or two at a time. Never the less we have had a fabulous holiday and will be returning again soon.

A jewel of a view

The site must be one of the club's best. Though slightly difficult to get to, the roads are twisting and narrow, it is Cornwall after all, it is well worth it. Though there were issues. Dog owners were not keeping their dogs on leads especially around their caravans and cleaning up after their pets seemed unnecessary to some. Ball games were being played around to caravans as well as kite flying. I also wonder when the club will finally amalgamate with the Caravan and Camping Club as tents are now allowed, a development that has grown since the acceptance of pup tents. We were there the part week before the school holidays which was peaceful, though once the school holidays began families with children, especially older ones appeared, and the peace somewhat disappeared.
