Location is stunning

We stopped here after lockdown. You had to queue to get in but are able to look around and chose your pitch whilst waiting. You are given a tube to mark your pitch. The location is the best we have ever stopped at, right on the coast so the views are superb with amazing sunsets Not all pitches are on the front row but all the pitches were good. Good hardstanding with grass surround.Reversing in caravans could be difficult in some pitches but most seemed to have caravan movers, which was lucky as many seemed unable to reverse !! The shower block was immaculate and covid rules easy to follow with a band system. There is also a laundry room here. There is a kids play area and an enclosed dog area. Some caravaners complained about the kids playing on the grass. It was the Easter holidays so you have to expect families , if you don't want them then go after the school holidays. You can walk along the coastal path in both directions from the site. The wardens were excellent here , very helpful and worked hard to maintain such high standards. Will definitely return here

It doesn't get better than this!

Well wherever we stay next could not possibly live up to this amazing site. Yes it is all about the views but also the staff were fantastic and the site was clean and tidy. You have to choose your pitch before you are allowed in due to the layout, so expect a little wait if someone in front of you needs more time to decide, but you can see why this is necessary. There are temporary /showers up the top end of the field, these were less luxurious and shared facilities meant that I walked in with a bloke as he had forgotten to put up his COVID band on the hook, thank goodness he was washing his hands and not using the urinal! Some gel around the service points would have been good. Nice to have the mobile fish and chips on Sunday night, just get there early as you have a long wait. It was just pure joy to be here, just wish it was open all year it would be amazing to be here in the winter watching the waves roll in.

Happy Place!

An absolutely brilliant arrival procedure with a very amusing and efficient warden guiding the units into the waiting lanes and providing each unit with a Queue Number. Afterwards one member of each unit was advised when to join the registration queue. I found this all very well organised and fair, as it meant folk couldn't jump the queue to grab a pitch. Another ingenious idea was reception providing sections of drainpipe (yes!) to place over your chosen pitch pole. It's always the simple things hahaa! Our grass with EHU pitch required levelling ramps, and was perfect for us, with uninterrupted views, could not have been better. We chose to use our onboard facilities so can't comment on toilet/shower blocks. The service point nearby was spotless and bins emptied regularly. We only walked a section of the Boscastle Coastal Path, which can be accessed direct from the site, as the terrain is very challenging but oh such stunning views. The Rocky Valley circular walk, from and to the site, is well worth taking and very picturesque. Busses will stop right outside the campsite upon request. We had three glorious, hot and sunny days soaking up the views and sunsets followed by very fierce winds and rain, but then being bumped around by the 45mph wind gusts is to be expected whilst camping on a cliff top. If any comments at all it would be that a 2nd Motorhome Service Point would be welcome. During our stay the majority of the units were MH which meant a queue upon exit. I'm so pleased we managed to book this site after being confined in lockdown, and felt very safe in our own bubble. We would definitely love to have another visit at some point.

Jewel in the Crown of Club Sites

If Carlsberg did club sites this would be it. We were lucky enough to get a front row pitch with outstanding views. Standard club facilities, kept spotlessly clean by the club wardens and no queues despite half being closed due to COVID. Although I think a second facilities block should be opened instead of the temporary ones currently in place. I feel fully serviced pitches would further enhance the site especially during the current crisis. Excellent coastal walks to Boscastle and Tintagel and Port Isaac is only a short drive. My only concern is that it's so special will I be able to book in next time I want too.

Picking a pitch !!

Great site, helpful and friendly wardens, only gripe I had was if you do go and walk around the site to pick your pitch be considerate to other people trying to get onto the site and don’t leave your caravan blocking other people in that have been directed to park behind you in the waiting area !!

Fabulous!

We spent 3 nights on a non electric pitch right on the edge of the cliff! Amazing position, amazing views! We walked along the coastal path to Boscastle one day and to Tintagel to visit the castle another day. The path in both directions is quite challenging, not for the faint hearted, but well worth it! We found the Covid precautions to be good at this site and especially liked the fact that the portacabin facilities were one family unit in each, so we were able to go in and shower at the same time, which suited us. In the main block the hooks were divided into showers and toilets, which was a good idea, as you weren't waiting to use the toilet because people were n the shower. The band system worked well on the whole while we were there, although there are some people that are obviously incapable of understanding simple instructions! Highly recommend this site!

Finally got to stay on this site.

We have attempted to book this site many times but always been full so pleased to finally get to stay here. Great site with amazing views and superb sunsets. Site very busy and facilities clean but stretched with the Covid precautions so queues unavoidable. Wardens very helpful when needed and normally seen around the site during the day. Checking in was quick and then go pick your pitch before entering the site. This site sits on the cliff top and it’s gets very windy so take extra precautions with awning storm straps and a wind break is useful. Roads leading to the site get very narrow and steep so care is needed. Local area has lots of small Spar type supermarkets so advise you take supplies with you unless you want a decent drive to find a big supermarket which would be Bude or Wadebridge. Port Isaac is a good day out as is Boscastle and Tintagel, this is walking country and you can take the cliff top walks to Boscastle and Tintagel straight from the site. Small dog walk area on site but direct access to the cliff paths from the site.

Could be more Covid secure

As others have stated, it is a site with stunning views when the sun is shining. However, we had two days of mist and fog with places just a few miles away in the bright sunshine. Also, beware of the wind that can come up in no time. Been at four other sites this year and all have excellent COVID preparation, however, this site was somewhat lacking. The worst was the dishwashing room which was fairly typical with room for four sinks, all of which were open. At least two sinks should have been shut, maybe even three. For males, the urinals were all open, so in theory, you could be rubbing shoulders with two other strangers, They also allowed six males in the toilet and shower block at one time where other sites with a similar layout allowed three. They had got portacabin loos in to help with queues, but the fundamental problem is that the site is relatively large and needs another toilet block or the number of pitches needs to be reduced. I also saw on a number of occasions people driving from their pitch to the showers and then parking in the motorhome service point. A further sign that the site needs more facilities.

Spectacular site

This really is an amazing setting. The view is spectacular if the weather is kind. It’s windy and exposed though so be careful about awnings!

It's all about the view.

We stayed at Trewethett during the recent Storm Florence. We did wonder if it was a sensible decision with such strong winds and driving rain but despite being right on the cliff top we were surprised not to have been more battered than we were. There's no doubt this site makes the most of its location. We were pitched on the 3rd row back but as the pitches are tiered it still felt like a front row position and we simply loved the coastal views. The paths in both directions along the coast provide interesting walks and both Boscastle and Tintagel are easily reached, albeit with lots of ups and downs enroute. The cliff path down to Bossiney Bay was slippery when we visited but it was worth the effort to reach such a pretty beach. Campsite facilities were not as clean as they might have been, and the staff not as friendly, but for the location alone we certainly hope to be back.
