Once again we had a fantastic stay at Thetford Forrest Caravan site, or the Covet. We wonder if it may be the best site in the country. Certainly within our top 5. Best pitches we feel are within one of the two "Glades". Circular flat green areas surrounded by tall trees. Its flat, regularly cut, grass collected and yes, you CAN get reasonable TV reception. Plenty of power, close water and very clean toilet and grey water areas. For those who want a hard standing, there are plenty of those also. On the weekend we stayed (end of September) the site was almost empty. Fish and chip van each night between 5 and 6.30. Good pub serving well priced excellent pub food 10 minutes towards Swafham which itself is just 20 minutes away. New people running the site now but just as good as before. Great walks all around the site and of course the Desert Rats area just outside the site. Enjoy !!!
Weekend at Thetford in OCtober
Just back from a weekend at Thetford. A very clean site with very cheerful Wardens. Services are limited, no toilet or wash facilities so need to be prepared to use the vans sites, Wi-fi and Van TV reception was very good. If you use the Three mobile network forget it, no signal for a few miles, which was lovely.
Nestled in the Forest there are some nice short walks and you can be on the coast (Hunstanton we went to) in an hour but Kings Lynn half an hour away.
Very quiet on this site, except for Apache Helicopters in the afternoon buzzing about for a few hours. Pitches were well spaced but no real space for kids ( which we don't have !) to be kids .
Would certainly re-visit but as fairly new Caravanner's haven't found a CC site we wouldn't go back to.
Excellent for peace & walks
This site is located about 1.5 miles from the nearest town (Mundford) but there is a pub less than 300yds in the opposite direction which serves good food. However - the real benefits of this site lie in its peaceful surroundings (set in a forest) where you can walk undisturbed through trees with the sounds of the forest wildlife as a peaceful background. The site is also really well located & maintained and has modern facilities for waste disposal CWD and a Motorhome waste drain. These clean and accessible facilities make up for the lack of on site showers or WC's. Great site for resting up with good company & a good book.

Generally pleasant and relaxing
Lovely site with a choice of well maintained hard or grass pitches. Stayed for 7 nights and it was fairly full every day, lovely tree lined areas, excellent for dog walkers with lovely walks for all. Interesting walk explaining about the "Desert Rats" base which was in the forest. Generally quiet although there were quite a few low flying aircraft and also cannon fire in the distance at around 6.30 - 7am most mornings we were there as there is an army base nearby. Quite a way to local shops and pubs (not walking distance) along a very busy main road. First time on a Club site as we normally stay on CL sites so can't compare with others.
Peaceful
Spent 2 nights here last weekend. Lovely site. We stayed in one of the glades. Great if you like wildlife, we had lots of birds on our feeder and visits from squirrels and even a muncjack deer. Will definitely be back
September visit
Arrived for 7 nights having prior booked on the club site, no hassle just had to pay.Site surprisingly busy on Sunday afternoon no hardstands available so pitched in the first glade on the left.We then left immediately to go get some shopping before the supermarket closed at 4 and were quite surprised when we got back to find 4 vans that were in the glade had gone, about 4pm.On asking the warden we were told it was common practice to pay for an extra night enabling people to leave later on Sunday ok we just assume they all paid then ! The site is quiet with no sanitary facilities which we knew and was well tended whilst we were there. Like many club sites (which we dont use that often) it had the feeling of welcome if you are known and if not then its very quiet.A good site for peace but the main road is fast outside and this makes turning in from the right interesting. An ok stay rather than a memorable one.
Thetford Forest Caravan Site
A very quiet plesent stay site is clean but has gone backwards slightly this year, there were about 8 grass pitches where the grass was in poor condition due to them being long stay seasonal pitches. There appeared to be a lot of seasonals, restricting pitch choice a little. The hard standings were in good condition but needed weeding. This site is a favourite of ours but has very limited family appeal unless your children are into walking or cycling. No facilities so suits members with good onboard washrooms. A very nice getaway from it all site. The warden did go on about his hourly rate of pay though and needed to keep on top of things a little better.

Amazing oasis of peace & quiet
Spent a weekend here and what a relaxing time! we arrived and received a great friendly welcome from the wardens. Pulling around the site, we decided to take a grass pitch and settle in one of the glades. This was a great decision and we were able to walk the dogs through the forest, following the Desert Rats trail, which is flat and suitable for all abilities. We will definitely be returning.
Thetford Forest Caravan Club site.
we have just spent 3 nights along with our family including two young grandsons at this beautiful, tranquil and superbly maintained site. It's the type of site you leave and want to return to and unquestionably we will. Visited Banham Zoo and Bressingham Gardens/Steam Museum about 35 minutes away. Excellent venues to interest grandchildren. To compliment the site, we met some wonderful people as well, not least the wardens. Keep up your splendid work. Your site is a joy to visit.
