A peaceful natural site with good access.

We have just returned from this site after an 8 night stop and have to say what a lovely peaceful natural site this is. The site is one of the best club sites we have stayed on and having no toilet blocks is a bonus for us as we always use our own caravan washroom and feel we normally pay for facilities we don't use. Situated within the trees (which do not block all the sun) it's a peaceful haven - wild birds and deer are common on site. It's also well situated for touring the local area. Nice friendly welcome from the wardens as well - we hope to be back ASAP.

Another great long weekend

Just returned from an enjoyable peaceful weekend at Thetford Forest. Helpful wardens, well presented site, level pitches (well 52 was) and the feeling of an oasis from the maddening world. Do not be put of by no toilet block. FYI - easy tow for caravanners and good MWP for Motorhomers. Enjoy........

Rural in the nicest way

This wasn't by any means our first visit to this out of the way site, close to the attractions of Thetford Forest. We keep going back for the good reason that it is clean, tidy and well located for woodland walks and interesting cycling. If you enjoy wooded tranquility, wildlife and don't depend on campsite ablutions and toilets, then this site will make a good choice - and it's reasonably priced too.

New caravan shake down

Bought a new caravan and needed somewhere to go to get use to all the technical gizmos that come with modern vans. Chose Thetford Forest for proximity and the peace and quiet of the forest. Site was lovely with nice wide pitches surrounded by woodland with lots of wildlife including muntjac deer wandering through the site. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. However, I would not describe the site as quiet and peaceful as the handbook states. During our stay (3 nights at end of April 2016), there was considerable aircraft noise, presumably from local air force bases. Having said this, it did not spoil our stay and would certainly return.

Best Site in the East

Amazing site, no loos etc but plenty of disposal points. Cant wait to go again! interesting and varied walking straight from the site, our dog was in his element and frankly theres nothing to not like. For a caravan club site, the shop is really well stocked with basics. Which brings me to the wardens frankly you couldn't ask for better. just two of them so the site isn't costing the silly money of some places. were there any problems eeeeerm well the TV reception was poor but still some channels. If you pitch on the had standings take really strong storm pegs and a big hammer. someone said the military can overfly sometimes but we never noticed go chill out and really have a great time

Great little hideaway

This if the first time we have visited this site.  It is so peaceful, and the wild life is amazing. The site wardens are the friendliest we have ever met, and so full of information on the local area.  Really good sized pitches too. Wonderful.  We will definitely be back again, more like an adults only site, though it isn't.  We had really good weather too from the 16th May.  Please keep this site the it is.

Norfolk's hidden delight

This was our third visit to this site and once again we have had a really good stay. The wardens are extremely helpful and friendly, offering advice and help, the site is immaculate and the layout great for privacy and a peaceful stay. We have a rescue dog who is wary of other dogs and so the ability to walk into the Forest straight from the site is an absolute bonus. The site has interest as the WW2 base for the Desert Rats, and the Forest itself stretches for miles around. Lots of places to explore within a short drive and one of the best stretches of coast in the country about an hour away at Holkham. Perhaps this site wouldn't suit families who need indoor activities for children when the weather isn't kind - but of like us you enjoy peace, quiet and lots of 'nature' right around your caravan, then this site is just the thing. We took the warden's advice on the effect of several days of recent rain and pitched on a hard standing area rather than in one of the grassy glades which we had previously chosen. Our caravan had chosen this particular morning to break its movers - so the ease of reversing onto a lovely flat pitch at the first attempt was a real bonus. Add day long sunshine for our entire stay (yes, it was April 2016) and we could not have been better suited. The layout of the site, thanks to the hard work of the Desert rats, means that each pitch is next to a slice of forest - so much so that deer and squirrels are frequent visitors and can be watched from the comfort of the 'van. Bring books, binoculars, wine and nibbles and settle back into those cushions!

Thetford Forest

This is a well run and extremely clean and tidy site and in less than 2 minutes we could leave behind us the hustle and bustle of this very popular place and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the forest. This was our first ever trip and we encountered significant difficulties but the warden very kindly helped us to devise workarounds. We shall visit again.

Lovely site & location

This was around our third or fourth time at Thetford & it has never let us down. Beautiful setting amongst the trees with deer squirrels etc all around plus lovely peaceful walks aplenty. Mundford just a few miles down the road & easy access to the A11 or A47 for Norwich  Site is well maintained & has clean facilities for water & waste. Staff friendly, knowledgeable & approachable. No showers or toilets but that shouldn't reflect badly on the site as if you have those facilities on your van then it doesn't matter - the site more than makes up for that. Would just like to add that I lost my glasses on site and within a few days I was called to say they had been found. Excellent service & a lovely site - what more could you want?
