Sandringham.

For us a return visit after five years. Great Wardens. Visiting Fish and chip van great. Pizza van seemed expensive with frugal topping. Easy to access from road network, and did find virtually all drivers drive below speed limit on main roads. Wood and walks around site area are good, as are cycle rides. Car boot sales seem to be popular in the area, which pleased us ! Wasps are a problem, but there is not a lot the Club can do about that. Overall we found the site expensive when compared to it's facilities, and the suggested expansion of the toilet blocks is most definitely needed. As others have mentioned the Wifi is well below standards expected (and paid for) in todays world.

Disappointed

Booked in at Sandringham for 9 days but left after 4. The good points. Toilet blocks although old were excellent. Warden’s we’re very good and ready to help. Excellent dog walk . The bad points. In 2022 communication is essential for most people. Wi-Fi at £30 that doesn’t work ( couldn’t even send an email) is pathetic and one device at a time. Once your logged in it’s difficult to log out. No mobile signal. As I’m still working it’s essential I can keep in contact with my job. I did speak to a few people on site who said they wouldn’t be back till communication was improved. We moved to an affiliated site £7 per night cheaper than Sandringham and free Wi-Fi for 2 devices. One more problem is if you intended putting up an awning be prepared for a lot of hard work fixing it down as the hardstanding was like iron.

MIxed Feelings

So having booked this site some months in advance, I and my wife, not so much our teenage son, were looking forward to it. I mean a campsite on a Royal estate, what could be better? As it turns out, lots of things can be better. Wardens were fantastic and worked tirelessly to keep the site tidy and clean, and they were a really friendly bunch. The site itself is tired and needs some serious work done to it. the WiFi is next to useless, for me that's not an issue, but for anyone with children and teenagers who need constant connection to the outside world, it is a nightmare. we also found the phone signals to be very poor. The site is surrounded by vast woodland, I joy for our dog, or it would be if the signs telling you that you walked your dog's in the forest at your own risk of them catching SCI (seasonal canine illness) that in some cases can kill your dog. there is no known cause and is active during the summer months. possibly adding this to the site information might be useful (Edit this information is in the site description. don't remember seeing this when we booked, but more than happy it is now there.),to make informed decisions if have dogs with them. the site was popular with families, so an endless din of screaming kids didn't go down well, yes I know it sounds grumpy and probably is, but I don't care. This chip Van that comes on site 3 nights a week is very good, the pizza van not much. The bus service is good and two stops out side the camp. Sadly however for all the plus points, this was not for us. and for the cost we will not be returning.

Sandringham is getting tired

I recently stayed at Sandring with my wife and Granson.. Great site but sadly getting very tired, it is in need of a refresh. The wifi is awful, but luckily not an issue for me! The site seems to be the favoutite of dog owners, most pitches had at least 2 dogs and mostly the yappy variety!! Re the pitch there is a guide to reference regards safety distances, which was disregared by a good few. Also lots of windbreaks going into the 6 metere safety zone. This was annoying because last year at Sandringham I was asked to remove my windbreak because it was enchroaching on the 6 meter safety zone. Generally a great site and staff very friendly.

Wardens great

We arrived Monday to be greeted by a gentleman warden who was very polite, when he checked his booking we were not on the list. he said he would go to the office & check. On his return he said that we were not booked in till Tuesday the next day but not to worry as he could accommodate us. he then said go 7 find a pitch & return to the office. When we went back the Lady warden Sue said if we contacted Icleborofields site where we had come from they would refund 1 nights fee as we had moved onto another club site which we did. Sue was very helpful & pleasant all the wardens were pleasant congratulations to them all, Mark, Steve, Fern, Sue, Les, Alaster, & Allison. Robert Hill.

Short stay.

Only one night on route elsewhere.easy to find and good wide drive in area. Picked 1st pitch we saw.nice to sit outside and people watch. Yes toilet blocks need refurbishment especially for site fees which are too much !! Woke during night to find hundreds of ants on back doors to motorhome.couldnt kill them fast enough.on checking we think they were coming up tv lead. Shame as its put us off returning. Possibly hot weather hasn't helped but really awful.

A star of a site!

This was our first visit to Sandringham, but will certainly not be our last. At first we were a little doubtful as to what we would find due to some rather strange negative reviews. However, I can confirm that this is a first class location with good facilities and a very friendly and helpful staff team. Located onnthe edge of the Sandringham estate there are literally miles of walks and cycle paths, nature trails, and of course Sandringham House itself to visit. You can also cycle off to Castle Rising or King’s Lynn, or take a bus from the site entrance to King’s Lynn or Hunstanton (if you like traditional sea side). A bonus is the fish and chip van that visits two nights, (excellent quality!) and wood fired pizza van. There are plans to close for refurbishment of facilities, which can only enhance the site more, but let’s hope not closed for too long!

A really lovely stay

We stayed at the Sandringham site for a short 3 night stay and it was great. The site has spacious pitches and extremely clean and tidy. Yes the facilities could and are being updated but they were very clean whatever time of day we went in. I want to shout out to the site wardens who were very helpful and gave a warm welcome as it was our first visit. We spoke to others on the site who go there 3 to 4 times a year so that shows how good it is and we will be back before it closes for refurbishment in January 23. I hope they don’t change it too much as it was a quiet haven.

Pleasant stay

I booked this site whilst i was actually on my way to it due to an issue with somewhere else I had booked, the warden I spoke to on the phone was so helpful and booked my a pitch whilst I trundled down the A1. On arrival, I was met by the same friendly, helpful chap, Mark, who helped me find two pitches together as I had friends on their way in their motorhome. The site is well kept and tidy, I can’t comment on the facilities as I prefer to use my own. Lots of walks in the surrounding woods, including a 10 minute walk to the social club. Dog owners need to be aware that dogs are not permitted in the club, but there is some seating outside by the very busy main road, a shame as we would have liked to have sat inside. I was pitched on the bottom right hand loop as all other areas were full. No phone signal in that area, but I had a signal in the top loop and by the barriers. The most annoying thing is the on-site wifi is rubbish, I paid for a year’s club wifi and have found, at several club sites, that the wifi doesn’t cover some pitch areas - I wonder if I can get a refund! Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Sandringham, and would particularly like to say how friendly and helpful all the wardens I met.

7 days in June

We previously stayed on this site many years ago when our children were little, we enjoyed it then and we enjoyed it all over again this year. I have read previous reviews about the facilities needing updating and can see that the club are in discussions re this. A lovely site to visit with plenty of woodland walks and wildlife. You can walk to Sandringham House from the site by using the well trodden path through the woodland and if you are a dog owner they will love the freedom to go exploring. The site is clearly sign posted from the main carriageway but one thing that really annoys me and I fully sympathise with the wardens are the outfits who feel its OK to turn up at the gate before 1pm then expect to be let in anyway ! All this does is spoil it for everyone else and cause problems for those leaving around 12 noon. If I know I will be early to ANY club site I stop for a cuppa and a butty then arrive AFTER 1pm feeling refreshed and all ready for the wrestling match with the awning.
