long weekend

Just spent a long weekend here (3 nights ) at this little gem of a site. Couldn't fault the overall cleanliness of the whole place. The toilet blocks are as clean, tidy and good as any we have used and the friendly wardens seem to take a pride in keeping the whole place spic and span. The site itself is very easy to find if you use the C.Clubs directions and it has good access. Very handy position too for discovering this part of the Peaks---suited us two "old uns" a treat-- we will be back.

The wardens at this site are possibly the most helpful and friendly we've met. The site is beautifully kept and well situated for visiting the local Derbyshire attractions. The Fishermans Rest pub just down the road is great too! We highly recommend this site.

Our first visit to this site and certainly not the last. The wardens were really friendly and helpful making our stay most enjoyable. The facilities were beyond reproach and all set in beautiful scenery.

Friendly and superclean facilities

We recently spent a weekend at this site, what a lovely quiet site. The wardens were brilliant, friendly and kept the site in very good order. The toilet block is the cleanest I have seen on any club site.  Wardens on some other sites should follow their lead. It is definitely a site we will be returning to.

Fantastic Easter break

Just back from a 4 night break at this lovely site. Friendly, helpful wardens, cleanliness, stunning views and a great location make this one of the nicest sites we've stayed at. There's lots to do in the area with so many interesting places within a short drive. Belper, Matlock, Cromford, Crich, Matlock Bath, wirksworth, Ashbourne, Tissington; the list goes on. It's also a great site for dogs, with many dog-friendly pubs in the area such as The Spanker in Nether Heage (great food too!), The Hurt Arms in Ambergate, and The Fishermans Rest (approx 1 mile down the hill towards the A6). Just a couple of points worth noting......make sure you follow the directions on the CC site, and note there is no visitors car park. When we stayed, there were a few pitches with a caravan and 2 cars squeezed on.  Planning to visit The Firs again soon ??

Great location

We have stayed over the bank holiday weekend at this immaculate peaceful site.  The facilities are excellent, lots of serviced pitches to choose from. All the pitches are level. There's an information building on site with lots of ideas to explore. There are two local pubs 'The Spanker' which is a 10 minute walk downhill, and 'The Fisherman's Rest' which is a 20 minute walk downhill again.  Please bear in mind you have to walk back up the steep incline.  The roads are typical country roads with no footpath.  We visited Crich Tramway Village as there was a 1940's weekend on which was really good.  I'm unsure if there would be enough to see and do there if this wasn't on.   There's lots of places to visit around Belper, Matlock, Alfreton, Ashbourne and the fresh country air will definitely blow the cobwebs off.  We have really enjoyed our stay and the 2 wardens were so helpful, kind and obviously hard working.   We will come back again.

Great weekend

Just had a long weekend at The Firs. Been there before and enjoyed it then and still think it is one of the best sites. Only 2 drawbacks -  1/ the next door neighbour lit a bonfire while we were there and the smoke came all across the pitches   2/ there is no footpath to Belper from the site and the road is rather dangerous Apart from that it is an excellent site and the Wardens were great. Thanks for making our break a good one

Long weekend

The Firs is a very well laid out and spacious site, well situated for visiting Belper and surrounding areas. The wardens were very friendly and helpful, the information room is very useful and informative. We recently stayed at a caravan site for a weekend which had a flooded out portakabin for a toilet block and other toilets and showers quite some distance away, so it was brilliant to have proper and clean toilets and showers. The dog walk was well used by my two dogs but I think the other dog walk on the sloping hillside should be closed in autumn as it looked very slippery
