WOW, Arrived on 26th April for a week stay at Stonehaven and as soon as I got to the barrier the site looked amazing. The grass was lush green and cut to perfection, all the road markings were freshly painted white. All the rough grass next to the road fence had been cut back which in previous years made the site look untidy. I must say the new wardens Ian and Muriel l have done an outstanding job on this site, I have been coming here for 12 years and it has never looked so good. The new wardens Ian and Muriel made us feel welcome and always chat to you and willing to help you. I am sure they will be an asset to my home site.
Looking forward to a great season at Stoney.
Thank you
Mr MARK LINDSAY
What a fantastic site in a fabulous location. Ian and Muriel could not have been more helpful, a credit to the club. The site and facilities were spotless, and just a stroll along to Stonehaven along the promenade with plenty shops and eating places. Definitely recommend and we will return.
Lovely well organised site by the sea, and easy access into the town. We stayed for three nights on our trip up the east coast. Lovely walks along the sea front and up to the war memorial. Facilities on site very clean and well maintained. Felt perfectly safe due to well organised facilities and measures put in place. Certainly would be happy to return.
We stay here regularly on our annual trip to Scotland. This year we stayed four nights north bound and again four nights south bound. It is a wonderful site, perfect by the sea for walks, pleasant town, lovely shops and all adhering to Covid rules. Felt very safe. Site is clean, tidy and well kept. The only annoying thing is WHY do others keep walking across occupied pitches to take a short cut to toilet block or water points! It is particularly bad at this site. Excellent fish and chips and ice cream two minutes walk from site.
As motorhome members we find it difficult to find sites that are conveniently located to facilities, as we choose not to bother towing a small car behind us, so we rely on walking or our fold up bikes or public transport, so it is very refreshing to find a site such as this - adjoining the seafront, a short walk to the town and local attractions and the choice of either bus or train connections to Aberdeen etc. The site and facilities are very tidy and clean. The seagulls are a nuisance as other members have reported, but that is a national problem. Having completed a tour which included staying at eight club sites and two weekend stays previous to the tour so a total of ten sites in the last six weeks - it is interesting how each site interprets the COVID-19 guidelines. Southport site in particular are farcical, so I think the club should set out the rules and regulations for their wardens and not leave interpretation of the guidelines to the wardens themselves, so that we members know what to expect at each site.
A great site in an excellent seaside location, well situated just behind the beach, quiet witb easy access to all facilities. Plenty to see and do despite Covid. The historic town of Stonehaven is well prepared for visitors and has given a lot of thought to visitor safety. Highly recommended!
This was our first visit to Stonehaven. It appeared to me that the site was a stepping off point for Aberdeen. The site staff were new so could offer no advice. What a surprise to find a delightful town. There is no promenade instead a boardwalk takes you from the site along the beach, to the harbour. Enjoy fresh lobster, straight off the boat! The town has a good selection of shops, a town hall in the main square and some beautiful buildings just back from the sea front. Aberdeen is a bus ride away as the park and rides have a height restrictions for Motorhomes. A nice city but disappointingly quiet. The Covid restrictions have had quite an effect on what should be a vibrant city.
Plenty of lovely coastal walks straight off the site. Pretty good cycling as long as you are ok with some steep hills!
A well located site and a surprising nice area to explore. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Said it all before,a lovely well run and kept CMHC site.
New wardens this year, I didnt catch their names, but very pleasant and friendly.
In the current climate we can only congractulate them on how good the site was looking and cleanliness can not be faulted.
As a previous reviewer pointed out there are seagulls!
We certainly on any of our visits have never been particularly aware of them causing problems on site, but we were on the east coast of Scotland and I suppose they can be an issue, having said that on the west cost of Scotland we get midgies. I dont think we can blame wardens on the west cost of Scotland for that really.
Well done wardens on keeping a lovely very popular and busy site to the standard that you do.
Graeme & Anne.
If you fancy having uninvited visitors in to your awning, helping themselves to your BBQ whilst cooking, covering your car, caravan and wife in poo (not just a little splat)then this is the place for you as you won’t be disappointed!
I don’t normally write reviews but given the towns issues with the Seagulls I thought I would make you aware. Just type in Seagulls along with Stonehaven and you will be presented with the facts, they are a total pest and need sorting as driving visitors away.
Positive site facts:
Toilet facilities were very clean
Easy Access for large vans/vehicles
Negative site facts:
Bins we’re overflowing and didn’t get emptied until late afternoon.
Long grass, it was long throughout the entire site and didn’t get mown the time we were here!
We booked for 30th December as a first night away in our new outfit. Nowhere had hogmanay available so we chose Stonehaven as somewhere we could go on from. We arrived just after 4pm and had a lovely welcome from Anne. She suggested a good route round the site to avoid any problems with manoeuvring which was very helpful. We found a nice pitch and set up fine. The site is just a stone’s throw from the beach and a very popular fish and chip shop. We asked abou the possibility of a second night and were told to pop back in at around 9am the following day. Sure enough there had been a cancellation and we were able to stay for the fireballs to see in the new year. It was an easy walk into the town along the sea front and, as it was such a crisp sunny day, we carried on up to Dunnottar castle (said to be the setting for Disney’s “Brave”) along the coastal footpath. Heading back in the afternoon we were invited for mulled wine and shortbread in the office with other members. Anne and Brent were very friendly and we met other folks who had made this a regular stop/occasion. We would highly recommend the site and will definitely be back.
