Perfect Location for Totnes and Dartmouth

One of the rare sites that are located practically in the town, just 2 minutes walk to the High Street. Also, 2 minute walk to the River Dart where we purchased Round Robin tickets which comprises a 1 hr cruise down river to Dartmouth, Ferry across the estuary to catch the steam train to Paignton and finally a bus back to Totnes. A great day out and pets go free. The staff on-site are very helpful and hardworking, the facilities are clean and best described as dated but adequate and the pitches are all non-electric. We'll definitely be back.

Lovely quiet site

A warm welcome by Gary and his wife set us up for a lovely relaxing stay on this very nicely kept site, being very new to motorhome travel it was nice to have helpful wardens! Facilities are very clean and although a little dated, everything worked very well - showers were hot and powerful! Perfect location for a very short stroll into Totnes and lovely river walks. It is a small site, so booking would be advised.

Ok except for disabled toilet facilities.

We have previously stayed here and like the site location and layout, but now that I am partially disabled it is disappointing to find that the toilet seats are very low. I don't know if we will be back.

Comment from The Club:

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you liked the site location and layout and would love for you to come back. You may not be aware that there are dedicated disabled toilet facilities around the far side of the toilet block. They are accessed with a 'Radar' key, which the Warden can lend you for your stay. This facility has a higher toilet and grab rails, along with a separate shower and wash basin.  Hopefully making use of this will enable you to enjoy visits to the site for many years to come.

Many thanks,

Weekend break

First time back to Totnes for a while, and what a lovely place. Never stayed at this site before. The site is in a really nice position, very close to the river and a short walk into the town. Thank you to the very friendly and helpful wardens, they are very good! The site is keep very clean and tidy. Yes the toilet block my be a bit old, but is keep very clean and tidy, with new windows about to be fitted. Will be coming back. Thanks

Great position

On a quiet side road a few moments walk from the High St makes for a very easy visit to Totnes. As previous reviews WC & Showers are not normal club high standards but they work and are fine. Club apparently only have short term lease on site so cannot invest in updating - frustrating for all. Personally it was great for us and no electric also no problem. There are only 50 pitches so do call ahead. Totnes Council please grant long lease or sell site - either outcome will be better for all ?

A nice break

Great site for looking around the area. Very friendly welcome from wardens Ray and Fiona who are good for to talk to and very helpful, wish all were like them. Try a boat trip to Dartmouth. Totnes is a picturesque town and has some good 'local' shops, butchers etc. and a good bakers just over the bridge.

Good location

Good location for touring south Devon and walking into Totnes which is a lovely little town with some really nice shops, pubs and restaurants. The site could do with some updating but I can understand why the money isn't being invested as it's on a yearly lease from the council who can't make their mind up whether to sell for development, turn into a car park or let the CC have a longer lease!, however the wardens do their absolute best with what they have and are quite helpful. Hard standing are a 'must do' when updated though as we had to stay on the tarmac car park for three nights due to waterlogged grass??.

"Great location but"

Wonderful site ideally located. However it lacks the all important electrical 'hook up' facility which would definitely enhance this campsite and allow charging of appliances (phones, iPads etc). Additionally it could benefit from hardstandings instead of relying on grass pitches which become waterlogged when wet. Finally the toilet block is small and tired and desperately needs updating and the staff are not overly friendly.

Convenient but dated

Brilliant staff and very convenient site for everything Totnes has to offer. BUT very soggy grass pitches, some unusable, no electric, no hardstanding, no wifi. Clean shower block but very dated and tired with black mould on the ceilings.

Quiet Site in Prime Location

The perfect site for a couple of days in Totnes. No electricity but a short stroll to the town with plenty of pubs, eating places and unusual shops. Very close to the quayside for river trips along the Dart but at the same time quiet and peaceful.  Didn't use the toilet block so I can't comment on its quality but I imagine it's well cared for by the helpful and attentive warden. A massive overnight downpour of rain made the grass very soggy but we had no trouble getting off in our motorhome as most pitches are level.
