Disappointed

Stayed for a week in July. The road from Kingsbridge is very narrow in places and the double decker bus takes priority and will not reverse. You need to time your arrival and exit carefully or risk a very nerve racking journey especially when towing. The road goes down to single lane in about 10 places between Kingsbridge and the site. Some of the grass pitches are quite sloping. The showers are clean but quite dated. I would not return to this site, but there are others who holiday regularly there.

nice clean well kept site, but the roads to the site are not suitable for caravans, the locals/buses don't slow down or move over,if you don't get out the way look out,we left the site at 6.30 this morning to avoid meeting any buses, but met loads of hgv.s,not ideal site for exploring torquay/brixham as you have to use the Dartmouth ferry which costs £5.60 each time, otherwise a 30+mile round trip, satnav took us over the ferry with the caravan on the way there and it cost us £11.20,unfortunatly won.t be using the site again, will be sticking with our original site, stover.

early departure

We thought this site was lovely and clean and quiet .we had to leave early due to illness and Tina was so helpful cancelling our forward bookings and said we neednt rush to be off site on the day we left. All the wardens were very good and helpful. Thankyou.

Hair raising journey

Arrived on a Sunday, as had read reviews, about no buses then , followed the book . A379 very narrow and locals don't stop nor move over . Lovely wardens , happy , friendly, highly recommend. But as for the site , found it claustrophobic, seemed to be looking into vans although not intentional. Would we return No .

Excellent time at Start Bay CC site.

Well we spent the first three weeks of August at Start Bay CMC site, and as usual had a great time. The site as expected was in excellent condition, very clean and tidy. Weather, well it was South Devon in August so pretty mixed, we had many beautiful days, along with a couple of very wet ones! Of the local pubs we only used the Tradesmans, up in Stokenham. The food and service was very good, although it is a little pricey. The Church Inn is closer, but not my choice of a place to eat. The journey in from Kingsbridge was challenging as the norm. Just make sure you know the bus timetables so you do not meet the bus coming from Dartmouth. Just take it easy and as long as you know the width of your outfit you will have no problems. The service from the wardens, new to the site this year was superb. They really look after the site and members well. However the assistant wardens, new to the job this year have much to learn in an industry where they deal with the members. Great site ,and hopefully we will be back next summer for our three weeks. Tina and Chris, you deserve to be CMC wardens of the year. Paul and Lizzie

lovely stay

Lovely site and the wardens are very nice and friendly. Facilities are immaculate. Beach a bit disappointing as a bit smelly and there are quite a few fishermen right in the middle of people swimming in the sea. Also a bit disappointed with the chip van visiting the site "The Flying fryers" (more like The Flying robbers). Nice food but very small fish and about 10 chips per serving, not even a child's portion! Would have loved to get extra portion but they flew off the site 30 minutes after the first serving, Instead, we would recommend a 2 minutes walk to the local pub "The Church House Inn" for very nice food at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Great Stay

As first stay after joining club. Had trouble with electrical hook up, no cables to buy in shop so 2 nights with no electric. But kindly plugged kettle etc in in office! Great location, very clean, welcoming, friendly and great facilities. Would recommend eating and using the Tradesman Inn as church house had rude staff and not so welcoming for dogs!
