Very windy

A beautiful location, a peaceful and well kept site with great views from a lot of pitches but not all. Friendly and helpful wardens. Plenty of stunning cliff top walks from the site. My only problem was the wind which blew with varying  strength almost continuously for the 12 days we were there. It dropped a couple of evenings enough to light a bar-b-que.

Bank holiday break

Friendly welcome from the wardens on arrival. Lovely locatation, site, views, walks and sunsets. Unfortunately music from pop up bar was loud at night in a otherwise peaceful locatation, but did not spoil out stay .

A Cornwall Experience

We arrived with a thick sea mist engulfing the site, rather spooky! Once it cleared it revealed a lovely quiet site with magnificent views from every pitch. As you know from other reviews you will be welcomed by really knowledgeable wardens. You will have a great choice of pitches although you will need to spend time levelling up. You could easily spend everyday sitting looking at the view but if you feel the need to move, St Agnes Beacon, St Agnes village and all the old National Trust tin mines are all short walks from the site. We enjoyed walking along the coastal path to Trevaunance Cove, it took about an hour but really easy walking and amazing views. We were tempted to go on to Perranporth but chickened out! Not really ideal for children who look for more action but if you want to relax in a beautiful coastal area then you should book a pitch straight away!

My favourite site

Our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. We had a fantastic view and although this site does not have a shower block we managed perfectly well worth our onboard facilities. The wardens are really friendly and helpful, so sad they are moving onto a new site. We had gorgeous weather apart from two nights of gales force wind which  was a bit scary. Will be back sometime next year. Fish and chips on site two days a week and taste good. There is also a fish and chip shop in St Agnus open at 5 pm most nights. The restaurant Called a Taste in the village has nice food and service. Lots of National Trust properties to visit. We stayed two weeks and still did not manage to see everything we wanted to see.

Beautiful site, great location and very peaceful

We have just got back from an 11 night break here with our two boys aged 8 and 11. We knew there was no toilet and shower block but having to find a site with availability at short notice in the middle of the school holidays, we weren't spoiled for choice. However, we coped admirably with having to be entirely self-sufficient. Okay, so the toilet was emptied every day and the washroom of a Bailey Ranger 6-berth isn't really equipped for showering - think using a hand held hose in a bin bag then wallowing around in two inches of standing water until you dry the floor by hand and you sort of have the picture. The site itself is beautiful; plenty of pitches to choose from including a central open field and then several culverts set back from the road. Some of them are a bit tight and we wouldn't have been able to fit our single axle van on them. There's no children's play area or field and this suited us fine - ours are old enough now to do without and we made the most of the walks from the site. St Agnes Beacon offers beautiful views and you can walk over the top and then into the village. Turn left out of the site and then a few metres down the road on the right is the footpath to the old mine ruins on the cliff. Stunning sunsets from here and amazing views up the coast. St Agnes has everything you need and we tried to do as much of the shopping as we could in the local shops. The local beaches are all a short drive away - Trevaunance Cove you can park on one of the residential streets at the top and then walk down the public footpath. It is a steep climb back up however. Chapel Porth is beautiful and we watched the Atlantic Storm send up some huge waves, from a safe distance of course! The wardens were very friendly, even opening the office when we arrived as Sue just happened to be walking past. We'd had a nine hour drive so was grateful for this. A part-time warden was there as respite for a few days and he was really friendly and very busy too tidying up the site. You do have to be careful on Beacon Drive; it is narrow and busy. If you adhere to the site request not to arrive before 12 noon and make sure you vacate by 12 noon it should work better but there are still large vehicles on the road that make it tricky but don't let this put you off using this beautiful site. At half the price of a commercial site we usually stay at in St Ives, we will definitely be returning.

Ideally situated.

After a horrendous journey down to the site from Shropshire, which took us 10 hours because of road works at Bristol and on the A30, a road to be avoided, we were delighted to be met by smiling wardens, Sue and Deryek who were most helpful and ran the site well. Very clean and tidy, the views were excellent and the situation is just right for visiting the Cornish coast. Lots to do within easy reach. The Miners Arms is a must for good food, fish & chip van comes to the site as does the butcher which is handy. Although there are no toilet facilities, which did not matter to us, as we have our own, it would be nice to have had some facilities to wash larger dishes and barbeque trays. It was extremely windy for most of the three weeks that we were there, so the more sheltered areas of the site are better as less noise from awnings. Not a site we felt suitable for children as there were no facilities for them - but obviously wonderful beaches close by if the weather is good. If we could face the journey again, we would definitely return.

A delightful location

A beautiful location and a very friendly welcome from the wardens. Nice combination of sheltered enclaves and more open pitches. Good network of paths along the coast path to Chapel Porth and Trevaunance Cove and over the Beacon to St Agnes. Everything very tidy and clean, essential supplies at reception, visits by butcher and an excellent fish and chips van. No shower/toilet block so maybe not so appropriate for young families or basic caravans/campervans. Seems expensive when those facilities are not available but the sunsets can be spectacular!

Our summer holiday

This was our first visit to this site and it won't be our last!  Beautiful location and great for access to other areas. Wardens were very helpful and site was very child friendly for our two young children.

A Beautiful Gem right on the Coast

This was our seventh visit to St Agnes Beacon, and we fall more in love with it every time. The sea views from this site, and the easy access to miles of coastal path right on your doorstep, make the tight squeeze up the narrow Cornish access lanes well worth it. We love that there is no toilet block, as it makes for a more peaceful site. But there is still plenty to keep our 4 year old occupied, and beautiful beaches and caves to explore within a 15 minute walk of the site. It's always hard to leave this beautiful place! Make sure you have blocks with you though, as all pitches are grass, and many are uneven. Some pitches may be tricky for the less experienced at towing, but there are plenty with lots of space too. Deryk and Sue Fletcher have been the wardens here for 5 years, and have always made our stay that little bit more special with their warmth and friendliness. We'll miss them greatly next year.
