13th February 2022 was our second visit to this site, this time stopping at the "runway" end. Site is ideally located for walking into and around Southport town centre, the promenade and general front marina area. Also links to NCN cycle ways for Formby and Liverpool to the south and Preston and beyond to the North.
Access is easy and pitches are almost level with minimal setting up needed. Services are well spaces on site. Turning around at the end of "the runway" could be difficult if pitches are taken: Staff did advise us.
Pedestrian access to the adjacent parks and service roads are good, although storm Dudley, Eunice and Franklin all caused significant surface water OUTSIDE the site, meaning access to the footpaths was cut-off. Not really a problem but it did mean walking into traffic against the exterior wall.
Apart from the extreme weather the trip was very enjoyable, the site discharged its role with honour and we can only speak highly of the site, staff, and surrounding area.
Wonderful Welcome
We arrived on site at approximately 15.00hrs on Saturday the 05th February.
I had the warmest welcome I have ever received at any of the sites we have used for many years! Nothing was too much trouble…the remaining pitches were all explained to me in detail as a couple out of the 5 remaining we could park the Motorhome on sideways…which was new to us!
I was told about a dog friendly place to eat in an establishment that welcomed dogs and given a card which offered discounts to C&MC members.
I was told about a short cut into town and was also offered directions into the park where we could let the dogs off their leads
We were told exactly where to access the water and waste and how to negotiate the barriers again prior to parking up.
This lady was just full of information that I hadn’t even requested…it was very wet and windy but I left the office with renewed vigour.
The site was very close to the park where the Southport Flower Show is held…a local Supermarket…the Sea front and the town centre…we loved it and plan to return…hopefully with no wind and rain next time!
Thank you Southport staff!

Always an enjoyable stay here.
We come to this site regularly to visit family who live in Southport, it’s also where my husband and I first met 50+ years ago so has a special place in our hearts. I’m sure it’s not just the rose tinted spectacles but we’ve never had a bad experience here; the staff are always helpful and friendly, the facilities are always immaculate and the pitches are excellent too - we have a tag axle and if we’re going to be on the late side arriving they often cone one off for us. The site is well located for everything; we always enjoy a walk along Rotten Row and either head in to town, down the pier or around the Marine Lake. It doesn’t matter what the weather is doing, the Southport Club site is always busy and popular. In all honesty, we’ve never had a bad experience on a Caravan & Motorhome Club Site and enjoy going in the knowledge that we can expect a warm welcome and a pretty high standard of everything. Highly recommend.
Another excellent, enjoyable stay at Southport club site
After a nice warm welcome as I entered reception, I was booked in and on my way to my pitch in just a couple of minutes. Very efficient and friendly. I chose my pitch then returned to reception to notify my pitch number and receive the keys to toilets and barrier fob, again quickly and efficiently.
The site plan and information leaflets were excellent and I noticed a really good point about speed on site "5 mph, which is first gear". Unfortunately, a lot of people still ignore this important point and the site wardens cannot possibly be policing every vehicle movement on the site. It is up to us as caravanners and motor caravanners to observe it - we are on holiday - what is the rush? Maybe reminder boards reading "1st gear only" would be more effective as some vehicle's speedometers do not even show 5mph? This is not just an issue for Southport, but all caravan sites that I have visited.
The toilet and shower block was very clean and tidy; I used the showers on two mornings and was very happy with them; clean spacious and nice hot water with enough room to dress and sufficient hangers for clothes and towels. A long handled squeegee on a wall bracket allowed me and other users to make sure the shower floor was suitable for the next person - a welcome small addition.
The motorhome service point was well laid and easy to use, as were the rubbish and recycling bins.
All in all, a very enjoyable stay and I look forward to my next visit. Thank you Southport club site staff.

Great location, clean site and facilities
This site is a favourite of ours and we are regular visitors. As always the wardens got us booked in quickly and efficiently. Usual helpful friendly wardens. The facilities were kept clean, as was the site itself. It's a shame that the large new part of the site is always closed off, tougher with its shower block at this time of the year, as we love the open space and outlook there.
Could do with a bit more lighting in some locations, for example the area/pitches backing onto the Rotten Row perimeter, opposite the waste/ water services. Also, the the perimeter fence at the back of these pitches is not very substantial and offers very little security.
But as always we had a lovely stay, and the site is well placed for easy walking into the town, to the seafront and pier areas. provided you are reasonably mobile.
Great site but a few issues
Stayed here a few times
So booked for New years day for 2 nights.
We arrived at 11.45 so checked in and paid but couldn't go on to our pitch till 12pm,
Which was fair enough and the guy in reception was great.
Asked if we could use the toilet as we'd been travelling for over 3hrs the guy said just tell the cleaners and she will let you in.
Walked down explained this to a lady with glasses who never even lifted her head and said in a attitude No! Use your van, which i replied Happy new year to you aswell.
The guy in reception came out 2 mins ltr and appologised and took us to the toilets.
Finally we parked up put our awning out and went for a walk into southport, came back ltr on and the awning was 6 inches under water, everything on the ground was ruined.
I know it rains and floods BUT surely the site knows which plots do?
All the other staff were brilliant and showers etc brilliant.
Great Location
Visited Southport for a break over New Year, great site, very convenient for all local facilities, friendly and helpful site staff, particularly when I had problems with the electric hook-up; staff attended and sorted the issue within minutes, the site is very clean and staff are constantly going round cleaning and tidying up, we look forward to visiting again soon.
Staff could be more friendly!
We are pretty new to caravanning and have only used Caravan Club sites so far.
On our arrival to Southport I was greeted by a pretty miserable lady who was very unwilling to help….. did not talk me through the site map like every other site we have stayed at. Dismissed every question that I had asked and we definitely did not feel welcomed!
We decided to stay an extra night as family were also staying in another caravan and I went to reception to pay to be told by the same lady in a very rude manner…. ‘your booking is not linked, come back tomorrow’.
Facilities good apart from the cold showers 🥶
I had no problems with any other staff members.
Not really sure I’d like to stay here again 🤷🏻♀️
The calm after the storm
Being hardy motorhomers who use our van all year round, Storm Arwen hit the night before our planned trip to Nth Yorkshire. We checked all routes and arrived safely at the Wharfedale site only to be informed that they had no power, water or phone lines. We decided to stay anyway but alas, power was still off the following morning so we left. Not wanting to waste the last of our annual leave, we spontaneously rang Southport to see how they were affected by the storm and if they had availability. The receptionist who took our call was really helpful and sorted out our Wharfedale booking from her technology as neither the wardens at Wharfedale or ourselves could amend our initial booking. She advised us when to arrive but in an accommodating tone like if we were a bit early, due to our previous nights adventures, it would be fine. We were 10 mins early but welcomed onto site and with a short wait for the last of the departures, were able to check in and choose our pitch with ease. They had had some electric problems but had managed to isolate those pitches with issues and we still had lots of choice. We had used a lot of gas the night before but we're able to exchange our calor light on site which was great. The wardens were helpful, kindly spoken and visual around the site doing their maintenance and cleaning. We found them extremely approachable. The park behind the site had an event on so was closed from mid afternoon to set up. The beach is so accessible from the site and appeared to be a lot cleaner than the last time we visited. All amenities on site were clean and tidy. Unlike our last visit, reception did have a stock of basic supplies in to purchase. My only bug bear which is pretty consistent of all sites is the speeding of vehicles around the site and also cheating of the one way rules where applicable. As in life though, rules and regulations don't apply to all people. Thanks for the welcome Southport. We will be back.

Excellent stay
This is the first time we have visited this site and I’m sure we will be back. The lovely new couple that were in reception were marvellous. Due to a stupid error in my part I hadn’t completed my booking so I wasn’t due to arrive. They sorted my booking out for me with lovely smiles on their faces although I’m sure they must have been thinking “what an idiot!”. We had a perfect pitch, absolutely level and because it was quite quiet we had no barking dogs, bliss! The facilities as usual on a club site were spotless.
