Seacroft is close to many Norfolk visitor sites and has great walks both along the beach and around the around the local villages of East and West Runton. Being well suited for both families and dog walkers, it is also a good base for other further afield activities and visitor attractions. The facilities on site are well kept, especially the toilet block which is kept very clean and well maintained. 'The Wonderer' pub/restaurant (which is on site) is friendly and does some good basic food. We had our first Sunday lunch there last week and found it both substantial and good value for the money.
We have always found the staff at Seacroft very friendly and helpful - It's well worth a visit even though some think it is on the expensive side.
A great location
Seacroft is within easy reach of Cromer on foot. There are buses at the entrance to the site to Norwich, via Cromer. and to Sheringham. There are lots of things to do in Cromer. The summer show in the theatre on the pier is brilliant and great value for money. There are plenty of places to eat out including the Rocket on top of the Henry Blogg's museum. This RNLI museum is well worth a visit. Henry Blogg was a true hero who volunteered for the RNLI for 53 years. An amazing man.
The pitches are a good size and although the shower block is in need of a revamp it is spotlessly clean.
Steve the manager is one of the kindest men I have come across on any of the sites we have stayed at. He went out of his way to assist me more than any warden should be expected to do.
We would certainly stay at Seacroft again.
Tired
We have stayed here many time as the location is very good, it is one of our favourite sites. It is close to the beach with great walking from the site, it is close to Cromer within easy walking distance where there are all the usual seaside amenities, lots of cafes, a great butchers and a supermarket. The wardens at our recent stay were very helpful and always greeted you very cheerfully.
Unfortunately the site itself is getting to look tired, there are lots of weeds on all the pitches and the site is being let down by the toilet block needing a refurb. as an example the hairdryer in the ladies was held together with tape and the showerheads were all corroded, cracked tiles etc That being said the wardens are keeping it as clean as they can but it is just not up to the standard we should expect for the high price you pay.
This site needs to be refurbed and would benefit from more hardstanding's, especially for this time of year.
we will visit again but for the pitch fees we would expect improvements.
Fabulous week on a great site!
Our third visit to this wonderful site and we were not disappointed. We absolutely love it here. The site is well maintained (we do not expect a campsite to be manicured!). The bar and restaurant are welcoming and there was a great singer on the Saturday night. The toilet blocks were warm and clean and the showers good. The location really suits us as we take our dog and enjoy the short walk to Cromer one way (via the park/pavement) and the longer walk to sheringham (via the coast path) the other. The bus stops just outside the site. The surrounding area is full of things to do and many coffee shops, bars, shops etc. The beaches are dog friendly, as are a good deal of the shops.
We would definitely recommend this site and will be returning.
First visit
this was our first visit, site was easy to find, and access.
Access leaving the site on foot with dogs, not good as no path so have to walk on the road
however pitch for a serviced pitch was exposed and no privacy, gravel was not level so had to mess around levelling the van.
Waste water access was covered in long grass, so needed to be tidied to get water to drain correctly.
Overall the site looks like it needs a little TLC as obviously had a hard summer.
Wanderer was good for takeaway just need a little more attention to the order, as we had wrong food, or item missing
Overall would go back again, if cost was a little less as i felt overall bit expensive for a tired site .
Looking tired
I agree with others - the site needs a bit of TLC. The door to the men's toilet block is rotten and there are too many weeds where they shouldn't be. Don't get me wrong, the staff are great and could not be more helpful, but something more is needed
Standards are slipping.
We have been visiting Seacroft for a number of years now and have always been completely happy with the site however this time we noticed a few things that need attention. As others have mentioned, the grass is left long & I understand the need for wildlife etc. but it is being used as an excuse not to keep pitches tidy.
Whilst on site our water supply was cut off (fully serviced pitch) so we asked the warden if they were aware of an issue. We were told “oh yes, the tank is being cleaned, should only be an hour or so”, that’s fine but why not let people know before work commences, it must have been scheduled. On a similar theme the restaurant stopped serving food for 2 days because, as we were told, they had “sold out of food”, REALLY??? Again a simple notice on an A board to let people know would have been helpful.
Overall these little things meant the stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been and when you’re paying premium prices you should expect better.
Great possibilities but looking tired.
We visited September just at the end of the school holidays, the weather was great but the site was showing the results of a long and what looked like a hard season. The grass pitches with awning were bare and generally somewhat irregular making pitching the awning an interesting affair for many. The grass surrounding pitches was long and when cut went onto roads and paths which trailed into caravans. We were on a hardstanding with awning pitch bordered by a hedge which was as you would expect.
The swimming pool when open was great and many people used it, however it was closed for 3 of the 7 days we were there. ( Staff shortages)
Please be aware that the fun fair uses the adjacent field and we were there for the last Friday and Saturday nights. They adhered to their finishing times so it generally wasn't too bad apart from the looped Star Wars music and 'SCREEM IF YOU WANT TO GO FASTER.' We did visit, think we should have had a discount, but came away laughing about it.
The toilet block is again showing its age, W/C closed temporarily- yes all week. Covers missing from extractor grills, paintwork needed refreshing.
It's a great location with a premium price. I had expected better to be honest but close to Cromer, easy walking distance to the beach, lots to do in the area. Would I visit again, I think I'll be looking alot closer at the price differences with other neighbouring sites.
Extremely disappointed in the state of this site.
What a difference 12 months makes, been coming to this site for 12 years we love Cromer and the fact this site as easy access to the town and the beach for our dog. Unfortunately this year as usual booked on for 16 nights and not once was our pitch or another pitch on the top level cut, the weeds on the pitches Is shameful and the length of the grass ridiculous. Only wish you could show pictures so people could actually see the stats of the site. Speaking to other members on site the opinions seemed to be the same with this stupid excuse its like this for the wildlife, time and place for everything and your pitch isn't one of them I'm afraid. The shower blocks definitely need an upgrade they really are showing the age for a premium rate site the Caravan Club should really pull there fingers, the tent field is cut every other day, service pitch £50 per night not touched in 16 nights. After 12 years we had already booked for next year but sorry after this year I think it's time to re-evaluate our membership and perhaps look towards private sites because talking to other members there has been a drop in standards on a lot of sites mainly caused by staffing cut backs.
Get your act together Caravan Club.
Should allow pictures.
Very friendly wardens
The Wardens Lynn and Paul were lovely. My husband took ill and had to stay in hospital and at one point didn't look like he'd be out before we completed our stay, this was not a problem for the wardens as they assured me that they would do whatever they could to help in the very tricky situation. For that we thank them very much, the other 2 wardens were lovely too I just can't remember their names. (sorry)
If we have any negative comments it would be that the club need to advertise when the carnival will be held as on our first week the carnival was noisy until the early hours then once the carnival had gone the Fair moved on to the next field playing loud music until 1:30am one evening then 6pm-10pm every night for the duration of our stay. Also other site users with dogs not cleaning up after their pets on the dog walking area. If the site/club is good enough to provide an area specifically for us to walk our dogs and include bins, then we should all help look after the area by being RESPONSABLE for our pets.
