An excellent, well kept site handily placed for the Coast & North Yorkshire Moors

This is our first time on the site and we were very impressed by the space and peace and quiet. Our hardstanding pitch was spacious and well situated. There were some good looking grass pitches but we had lots of rain and outfits were starting to cut up and muddy the grass. The playing fields for children and their clubhouse (although shut because of Covid) makes this a site we would love to bring our grandchildren It was a short stroll into the village to go to the pub or the large, well-stocked Spar. The site was well-placed to drive up or down the coast or adventure into the quiet Forge Valley and other areas. We made a quick visit to Ravenscar but were almost blown off the cliffs and got a soaking. Bring your wet weather gear with you. The site had a really good ambience and atmosphere and was very friendly. The staff worked their socks off and were very helpful & cheerful. My only issue is that the toilets are starting to look very dated and cramped inside. The Covid arrangements made this more of a problem. They need some serious money spending on them in the immediate future as they are not up to the standard of the better private sites or even many Club sites. my wife didn't feel as strongly about the female toilets Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would consider returning probably in the Spring time rather than in Autumn.

Thanks to the fantastic effort of the wardens

Just a few months ago I, like many others were struggling to contemplate the idea of a summer holiday away from house due to the social distancing rules caused by the virus so we booked a site we were most familiar with and one of our favourite sites on the circuit and we did not regret it. The camp site was in very good condition and full to capacity and the wardens not only worked tirelessly over our fortnight break to maintain the site but also make sure that the latest social distancing rules were being adhered to. Unfortunately I witnessed a few individuals on the site who clearly thought such rules did not apply to them especially when using the facilities and I hope they realised the risk that the facilitates could have been closed down due to their behaviour but I would like to think that these were isolation incidents from irresponsible individuals who should know better. Apart from that well done to The Caravan Club and all concerned and thanks for a tremendous two weeks break.

Short break

This was our second visit to the site. Its a perfect location for visiting Scarborough. The site is lovely and spotlessly clean. The staff are very welcoming. Would definitely recommend the site

Lovely site

Fantastic site. Although as already stated in another review the showers had boiler issues this did NOT spoil our break we were able to shower and use facilities that were very clean. Wardens are lovely and very friendly. Site is clean tidy and very well kept. Fab explorer hunt to keep little ones entertained, lots of space for them to run around and play. Good dog walk on site. Not far from Scarborough for days out. Looking forward to our return trip.

A lovely site.

First time here and we enjoyed our stay here. Didn’t go far, pub, T rooms and local fish and chips. We mostly used our caravan facilities. Some people, often children not using Wristbands, and more people in the facilities than there should be. Amazed at the number of people with modern/ new caravans and motorhomes moaning about queuing for the showers. We would visit again, in low season.

Nice stay

Enjoyed our 3 night stay. We had one of the few grass pitches, which was absolutely fine. Although it was full, we felt sufficiently tucked away so it didn't feel too busy. A few waits for the toilet block due to the covid restrictions, but not too big a deal really. A bit if a way out of Scarborough, but we were able to cycle in keeping off some of the main roads. Not the cheapest though, seemed to charge more than the website was indicating. Neglected to double check that though.

Needs an upgrade to justify the pitch fee

We have just had 6 nights at West Ayotn and was disappointed to find that the shower upgrades had not been done even though last year we were told they were scheduled to be done . Throughout our 6 night stay every shower was stone cold . We were told that there were two boilers down the lower block and one had broken and the other intermittent . For the amount charged £296 . It annoyed me that the showers we had as a family we’re freezing . We resorted to our limited on board basic facilities . It is a lovely site and the wardens are very helpful but it marred our stay as we were patient enough to queue for a shower and then for it to be not working was unacceptable .Many other families were complaining about it . We found that a minority were either not hanging their wristbands or were forgetting to take their wristbands . So the shower block seemed to be full when in fact the wristbands had been forgotten . The wildlife is lovely on site , but down the lower end we found that the Wood pigeons were incredibly noisy from 5am ! Last year we stayed on the higher tier away from the trees and it was a lot quieter . I live in a rural village so am used to the country noises but we were astounded at the number of wood pigeons and volume on site . All in all for our first holiday as a key worker , we were regrettably disappointed . But must stress the Wardens were not to blame .

Well kept site

1st time on this site and it was the 1st day of opening after lockdown, very impressed with the system that was in place in regards to covid 19,although some people seem to disregard the measures in place, maybe they can't count the 2 rubber bands outside the toilet to inform that they are full?.lovely well kept site with lovely chatty wardens, i think £32 per night is a little bit expensive but we really enjoyed our stay.full marks to the wardens for a lovely well kept site.hopefully we'll return soon.

Lovely site, but needs updating

Stayed for three nights during half term. Site was very quiet, because it wasn’t half term for some. The facilities are starting to feel very dated and one of the toilets was permanently flooded the whole time we were there. Feel this site is getting expensive. Three nights for just over £85, then checked the following week, which was still half term for the majority was just over £70. Wish I knew how they justify that. Think it’s might be a while before we stay there’s again. ,
