Gem of a site.

Visited in August for four nights. Lovely well maintained site with excellent dog walks on and off site which also has a dog wash. Clean facilities. Quiet in the evenings and at night despite being in the kids holiday period. Large children's play area on site. Two pubs within walking distance which both serve food and are dog friendly. Excellent location for the Forge Valley nature reserve and visiting Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and Filey. Will definitely return to this site.

Great site

Visited in June 2019. This is the second time we've been here. It's a great site with everything you need for a caravanning holiday. Showers and toilets are spotless, lovely and warm, and powerful showers. Laundry facilities are spot on. Great dog walk for our two dogs. Our young grandson loved the slides and play area. Lovely big play area for kids, just had to watch out for the rabbit holes. This site has everything that we needed. We will certainly use again when in the area.

Dog Nuisance

I am a dog lover and appreciate many caravanners bring their dogs on site, most of whom behave responsibly. I appreciate some dogs will bark when disturbed but our recent visit (8th consecutive year) was at times spoilt by some dogs yapping continuously with no apparent input from their owners to alleviate the nuisance to fellow caravanners. Whilst children are paid for as an extra, dogs go free. People should show more appreciation and respect for this facility. This is an excellent family site kept in an immaculate state by a great team of wardens. We shall definitely return, hopefully not to be disturbed by thoughtless dog owners in future.

Great site

This is a large site that is well landscaped and is divided into smaller areas. Plenty of room around the pitches, two play areas and a games room. The number of showers available could be an problem in peak times, but they are kept clean, the showers are hot and the water pressure is great! We extended our stay to a second week!

ONE OF OUR FAVOURITE SITES

We booked this site because it was where we wanted to be for the second week of our holiday. What a find! Accessible and handy for most of the area's attractions, restocking with holiday necessities was very easy. When we arrived, the staff were warm and friendly and very helpful indeed. Once hooked up and exploring the site, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities and the dog walking area is the best we've encountered anywhere. The staff regularly patrolled the site, unobtrusively checking that everything was okay - which it most definitely was! The children's play area looks excellent and we can't wait to introduce our granddaughter to it. We like sites that make the most of the landscape and this one blends in with the hill on which it is situated very well. The effect is to give the appearance of being a much smaller site than it is. The highest compliment I can think of is to say that we have already booked a return visit in September

Nice Break

We visited West Ayton again at the end of May for 8 nights with the grand children. Lucky enough to be invited to the grand opening of the new play tower and charity event. The kids will love this play area. Trips into Scarborough and to Whitby and Goathland on the North York's Moors Railway were two good days out. Visited the (dog friendly) Forge Valley Inn for a lovely well priced meal. its a lovely well laid out site the facilities are good although a little tired. They were kept very clean by the Wardens. Unfortunately my wife was taken ill on the Friday night. She wasn't up to travelling home on the Saturday. I had to be back home on the Sunday to compete in a charity run. So my wife stayed on in the caravan .Fortunately we had Volunteer wardens stay on a pitch nearby. The lady came and ensured my wife was ok on her own in the caravan in her time off duty. I cant thank them enough. They had left by the time I got back on the Sunday to pick up my wife. So I did not get a chance to thank them personally.

BRILL WEEK

Brilliant week at West Ayton . Such a shame the toilets look so tired certainly ly need a revamp .. just can't understand why all the doors and windows open fully when the radiators are boiling hot what a waste of money. The grandhildren certainly enjoyed the new climbing frame although my heart was in my mouth!

Lovely walks from the site

We had a brief weekend here as we had booked a workshop at the nearby Dalby Forest. The site is really very quiet and peaceful. I particularly appreciated the information area which gave details of local walks and bus timetables. There is a very nice walk via Ayton Castle, and the river through beautiful woodland to the outskirts of Scarborough where it was very easy to pick up a bus into the centre. I would recommend use of an OS map rather than relying on walking guides as some of the routes through the woodland can be tricky. The fish and chip van on Friday night was very welcome, the fish being fried fresh to order. A good site for using to access easy walks and cycling from the van and touring the area.
