Last minute booking

Due the changes brought on by Covid-19 this was our 3rd choice for a long weekend away celebrating our wedding anniversary. What a fabulous site, brilliant wardens, good sized pitches and spotless facilities. Well positioned site for touring around, we had a brilliant time and thanks to this great site it felt longer than 3 nights. We will certainly be going back.

Great Weekend

We booked into the site nervously as reading some recent reviews there was a few complaints about the toilet/shower blocks. We found the facilities spotless, plenty hot water great shower pressure and toilets that fully flush and the blocks lovely and warm. The site looked good and the wardens were faultless. Covid regs all followed well. Ate in the Olde Forge a walk downhill from site. Good pub food and 10% off food for club members with card. Good walking from site into Forge Valley and beyond. We will definitely be back.

Our favourite club site

We have been to west Ayton site twice ow and will probably go back at least once every year for as long as it is possible, this caravan park/site is everything it should be, we can't fault it, it's in a great location, there is always something to do and somewhere to go in this picturesque area, even the shop/garage in Ayton is perfect for groceries and fuel and even washing your car down before your trip back home, The site itself is spotless very well kept tidy site, the staff are friendly helpful and are busy all day everyday keeping the site mint, the showers are powerful and hot, the toilet block itself is clean and warm radiators are always on to warm your towel on just like at home, the pitchs are large and very level and always tidy with clean stone of the perfect tarmac road, there is an immaculate well fenced off dog walking area, plenty of bins areas that are also spotless, a massive well mowed play field for picnicking and slides and kids play things, also a pool/snooker room with table tennis , I would recommend this site to anyone in a heart beat, thank you see you again soon , yours Jon & Jane Brown

Excellent Visit.

We recently stayed at West Ayton site for a few nights. It is a site that we regularly use. As usual we were not disappointed. The COVID-19 regulations are adhered to, but in a very common sense way. The band system using hooks outside each set of facilities worked well, having said that the site was no where near full during our stay. The wardens are lovely friendly people, and keep the site in general in top notch condition. Many people criticise the toilet blocks. Yes they are dated, and in desperate need of a rebuild/ refurb, however they are immaculately clean, which is the main thing. The site in general is in a good position to visit many resorts on the East Coast, and Birdwatching in the area is excellent, with a raptor viewpoint down the road, and RSPB Bempton Cliffs nearby. Needless to say we will return next year.

First time at Scarborough

First impressions NOT NICE ! One female warden nice welcome the other was plain miserable and rude while speaking. It was like she hated her day at work? Anyway apart from the welcome we enjoyed this VERY large site and it was full. I feel the toilets are very out of date and not enough for 163 sites???? when paying in excess of £30 a night? Especially in light of Covid? Enjoyed Scarborough and Pickering trips.

Yorkshires gem

First time staying at the west ayton site near scarborough and it's very easy to get to in terms of access and the wardens were very helpful and friendly especially explaining info regarding covid-19 The site itself is extremely well laid out bearing in mind it's such a large site 162 pitches and you were not on top of each other the pitches were generously spaced out with more than enough room for your caravan and car or in our case campervan. The toilet block was clean and tidy but could with  updating however the wardens and assistant wardens do a great job overall in keeping the site in great condition There is a large children's area a short walk away from the majority of pitches and adjecent to that is a large exercise area for your dog/s there is also a dog shower on site as well as an information but but this was closed during our stay We were impressed during our stay and will be returning again in the future

Fantastic site but well out of date facilities

Have just had 4 glorious nights at this site to spend time walking in Forge Valley & Raincliffe Woods, all done from the site. Some steep climbs up and down the valley sides but worth it. The site itself is top notch, immaculately kept by the 6 strong team of wardens and the site facilities were very clean, as you would expect. Well done to the wardens who were engaging, helpful, informative and clearly had great work ethics. The only one thing that lets the site down is the ancient toilet & shower facilities, particularly at this difficult Covid19 time. A strange example is the ratio of 3 showers to 7 privacy cubicles, with the old curtains, in the block I used, which all added to the reduced numbers of members who could use the building. Still has outdoor pot washing area, albeit under cover & only 1 sided MH waste drop off on a one way road system. On the plus side is the location, greenery etc & fantastic family play & dog walking areas. Easy access to surrounding area with an hourly bus service from the village. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay & thanks to the wardens for their hard work in keeping the site sanitised.

An excellent, well kept site handily placed for the Coast & North Yorkshire Moors

This is our first time on the site and we were very impressed by the space and peace and quiet. Our hardstanding pitch was spacious and well situated. There were some good looking grass pitches but we had lots of rain and outfits were starting to cut up and muddy the grass. The playing fields for children and their clubhouse (although shut because of Covid) makes this a site we would love to bring our grandchildren It was a short stroll into the village to go to the pub or the large, well-stocked Spar. The site was well-placed to drive up or down the coast or adventure into the quiet Forge Valley and other areas. We made a quick visit to Ravenscar but were almost blown off the cliffs and got a soaking. Bring your wet weather gear with you. The site had a really good ambience and atmosphere and was very friendly. The staff worked their socks off and were very helpful & cheerful. My only issue is that the toilets are starting to look very dated and cramped inside. The Covid arrangements made this more of a problem. They need some serious money spending on them in the immediate future as they are not up to the standard of the better private sites or even many Club sites. my wife didn't feel as strongly about the female toilets Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would consider returning probably in the Spring time rather than in Autumn.

Thanks to the fantastic effort of the wardens

Just a few months ago I, like many others were struggling to contemplate the idea of a summer holiday away from house due to the social distancing rules caused by the virus so we booked a site we were most familiar with and one of our favourite sites on the circuit and we did not regret it. The camp site was in very good condition and full to capacity and the wardens not only worked tirelessly over our fortnight break to maintain the site but also make sure that the latest social distancing rules were being adhered to. Unfortunately I witnessed a few individuals on the site who clearly thought such rules did not apply to them especially when using the facilities and I hope they realised the risk that the facilitates could have been closed down due to their behaviour but I would like to think that these were isolation incidents from irresponsible individuals who should know better. Apart from that well done to The Caravan Club and all concerned and thanks for a tremendous two weeks break.
