Lovely stay here during school hols. Access easy following directions, pitches large enough and fairly level. Site is large and very busy, but facilities are well kept and pleasant, plenty of established greenery. (Showers are very, very powerful, always a plus in my book). Site is several miles outside Scarborough just off the Racecourse Road; we drove in each day and parked for free on Esplanade above the Spa where the disc zone parking ends. We hired a chalet for the week just below the Clock Cafe on the South Beach and highly recommend the bbq packs from Stepney Hill Farm, where we also enjoyed a lovely lunch in their tea rooms.
3rd Visit this year
As this club site is one of the nearest to home, we visit often, this is the first time this year in school holidays and the difference in the site (like most others no doubt) is amazing. Forget the peace and quiet bit but as it is virtually always full, full credit to the wardens for keeping the place neat and tidy! The only thing to add to previous reviews is that the pub opposite the site in the village has been taken over - the food was good as was the real ale and its still dog friendly - well worth a try. Looking forward to returning after the schools have gone back!!
Could do better
A 'cool reception' and lack of information about the ordering of papers was a bad start but after discussing with the wardens the atmosphere changed. The grandchildren with us, who were excited about this third visit to the site, were not received well when visiting to buy sweets and again a discussion was necessary. The boule pitch (shown on the plan) was visited - along with other families, and is clearly not looked after. Accumulated rabbit droppings made the area dirty and unplayable and should not be on the plan as a facility - unless it is looked after.
Glad we came
This site was lovely. We were visiting Yorkshire to attend an event in Malton and this site was very convenient for that. It is also very near the seaside and although the weather wasn't great we enjoyed s bracing day in Whitby and another in Scarborough. There were plenty of places to go and we would thoroughly recommend this site for any age group not just for us ( an older couple with a spoilt dog)
Our favourite site.
This site is a favourite of ours. The location is perfect if you love Yorkshire, as we do. The area has so much to offer, the coast, quaint villages, the moors, steam railway and so much more. The site is spacious and well landscaped and very well kept. As with all sites, it is quieter outside the school holidays. Overall it is highly recommended.
Excellent!
The site at West AYton was excellent. The site is immaculate with mostly hard standing pitches and plenty of room and we got to choose our pitch which was great. There is lots for children to do and there was a safe and friendly feel to the place. We will definitely return. Thank you.
Another cracking stay
Get to West Ayton quite often and I like what the site has to offer. Never disappoints and we always enjoy our stay.
One concern I have, and it is not just West Ayton, it is children on bikes. I don't like them riding against the flow of traffic and when it is dusk can bikes please have lights on. I drive at 5 mph but there are plenty who don't. Not anti-children by any means I just don't want to see anyone getting hurt.
As Arnie say's, "I'll be back"

Fab. Site
This is a fab site well worth a visit. The wardens are extremely helpful and friendly and the site is well set out. The only down side was a fellow member who had no consideration for others - deciding to put an inflatable awning up at 7.30am. Obviously this does not reflect on the site and I would recommend it for anyone wishing to explore Scarborough and surrounding areas.
Great Site
We stayed here for a week in Easter & the site is well kept, lovely & clean, with nice, friendly wardens. Good dog walking area, nice outdoor play area for kids & a games room with 2 pool tables (only fault I can give is, there should only be 1 pool table in games room to be able to take shots from all sides of the table, it was a bit annoying but in the grand scheme of things, not a big deal). The site is in a great location for visiting York, Flamingo Land etc. Also the site recommend Ye Olde Forge Valley Inn at the bottom of the hill, which is a dog friendly pub. Reception gave us a voucher upon asking name of the pub & it has great food at even better prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at West Ayton & would definitely come again.
Holiday
We spent a week at this site and was impressed with how well it was maintained. The wardens were always helpful.
