Lovely

Just had a lovely week at West Ayton. The site is kept beautifully, couldn't fault it, the Wardens worked so hard and were always pleasant. Would definitely visit again Lorraine & Pat Lee, Kimberley, Nottingham

Our Dog Becky

If it was left to our wonderful dog Becky we would always come to this site , the dog walk is fantastic and well looked after . what a good job has been done with the new information hut , the site and facility block are first class / the wardens are all very friendly and always in a good mood ,not like on some sites , This is a very good place to visit 4 miles to scarborough , a dog friendly pub with good meals just over the road and the best fish and chips in the country at Seamer .and the board walk down the river

Wonderful site will return

Just returned from this site and had a wonderful stay. Loved it so much we have booked again for end September and end October. Dog walk is very good, showers were clean and powerful, more powerful than my own. Everything was kept nice and clean. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Excellent play areas for young and older children. There is even a games room with two pool tables and a table tennis table to entertain the teenagers. Tv reception is poor but they have tv boosters on site and tv booster cables for sale in reception at a reasonable price. The site is tiered so some pitches may not be as level as others so make sure you have levels with you. We didn't but will get some for our next visit. We did manage without just.

Exactly what we wanted !

We stayed here for two weeks from 8-21 June and it completely met our requirements. The site is kept clean and tidy - the wardens always seemed to be out and about doing something but never failed to say hello when they passed. We drove round the site a couple of times looking for our 'perfect' pitch but in the end a 280 mile drive and a puppy that needed to get to the vets meant that with some trepidation we took a pitch right next to the children's playground ! Our fears were groundless as the playground saw very little use during our stay and there was no noise or disruption at all - despite this we noticed that the wardens inspected the equipment properly every day :) The dog walk is by far the best we have encountered on a club site although it was apparent that some owners failed to pick up after their dogs both on the dog walk and around the site :( I would suggest that anybody intending to use an awning take note of the advice to use rock pegs and also take a fair number of spares - I've occasionally bent the odd rock peg but I managed to bend SEVEN here and two of them ended up 'S' shaped :) Overall an excellent site - the only reason I docked a point for 'Good for families' is that there's not enough to keep teenagers occupied (In common with every club site we've been on). Fortunately our three 'children' are now 23 and no longer come with us ;)

Great first time

Stayed here for the weekend of June 17, 18, 19. It was our first time ever on a caravan site. We were having a test run for our newly purchased trailer tent. The wind blew and the rain lashed down, and we loved every minute of it.  The original greeting at reception was quick but very informative and proffessional but with a personal care almost like arriving at a family hotel.  We were given a choice of any free pitch either grass or hard standing. We chose grass as we have a trailer tent to give us the feel of camping whilst still being off the ground for sleeping. The gentleman, I can't remember his name, but he's the one like myself, challenged in the hair department, who constantly cut the grass, was a real help sorting our pitch area as with the trailer tent we couldn't put it with the tow out as the whole unit unfolds from the back. He was a mind of information and always seemed to be on hand, especially cutting the grass.  The dog walk area is great and very well thought out and planned, and the dog wash area is a brilliant idea.  The weather was bad over the nights but nice during the days and we sat relaxing, was the grass being cut and walking the dog.  The toilet facilities were excellent. Full pot was area, which was lovely to see everyone caring about and keeping clean. Showers and was areas excellent and very clean. Very hot water and very relaxing showering and just the faint hum of the grass being cut.  The wifi was very strong and surprisingly a good band width. We are F1 nuts and being able to access sky go was a real plus.  I've seen some reviews about the wifi on some sites but I can assure you it's a good wifi here.  Although this was a trial first time out and we only live 30 mile up the road, we will go back at some time as we were very impressed with the staff, the site and more importantly the length of the grass. I think he should be head grounds man at Wimbledon.  Many thanks to all for a great first time.  Steve & Sharon Conroy. :-)

A Lovely place to stay

We hadn't been here for a while and I'd forgotten how nice it was. A lovely welcome despite being busy the warden had time for everyone. The information centre had been given an  excellent make over and was very inviting.  The washrooms are not the newest but they were kept very clean and despite the site being full there's was always a vacant space.  There is a superb play area for children, a scenic dog walk and it is not far to the park and ride into Scarborough and not far to Pickering where you can catch the steam train to Whitby.   The site is terraced and that makes it interesting and makes it feel smaller than it actually is.  All in all it is a lovely place to stay whatever the weather, the staff make it special and we'll definitely be back again.

Great Site

Although this site is just over a one hour drive from home we really enjoyed it.  The site is immaculate, the wardens really do deserve a pat on the back for their hard work.  There were always wardens clearing up the site or weeding the well kept plant beds, they always had a cheery smile (even in the rain).  The toilet blocks could do with updating but they are adequate and very clean.  The site was full over the weekend we were there and I did have to queue for the showers on the Sunday morning but the rest of our 7 night break there was no queuing.  There is plenty of space on the pitches.  We highly recommend this site.
