Ferry pitches poor value for money

Ferry pitches cramped and noisy. Staff not very helpful. Poor value for money. The other reviews here are NOT representative of the site as it is.

Rookesbury Rocks

This site was ideally situated for our stopovers when going to and returning from our recent European adventure. The site is very well maintained and the staff very very helpful and obliging, opening up for us and our colleagues well after 6pm when we got off the St Malo ferry. Thanks guys. It is also ideal for touring the South Coast and areas of the New Forest. Will stay here again.

First time Visit, Lovely Site

This is a very lovely site, right next to the quiet woodlands. We stayed here for a single night and found the place to be nice and spotlessly clean, cared for and the poeple were very helpful and friendly. Great facilities. There is a lovely childs play area on site and a great some well sign-posted walks through the woods. Enjoyed the stay and would recommend and stay again

Visit time and time again

We are new to caravanning and this site was recommended by another site warden . It was our second visit ( our third is already booked). This site is perfect if you have dogs ....a nice size area for dogs to play safely ....and woods for fantastic walks . Toilets always clean and clean generous shower rooms hot water whatever time of day. Wardens seem always cheery and grounds kept clean and dog waste bins never overflowing ( which does make a difference) really nothing negative to say would not hesitate to recommend and will visit whenever to opportunity arises

Great site

We stayed for three nights over the Bank Holiday in August 2015. The site is well kept and the facilities excellent. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful - couldn't have asked for more. We will certainly visit again!!

Lovely stay in a welcoming and peaceful site

This is a lovely site, set next to the quiet woodland of Hundred Acres or Forest of Bere. We have stayed here a few times and each time the site has been spotlessly clean, well cared for and the wardens have been helpful and friendly. The facilities are great, clean and ample. There is a fabulous dog exercise field which is enclosed and secure, allows even the most curious of pups a chance to play safely off lead. Wickham is a small village but has the essentials of a chemist, some take aways, a large co-op and a couple of pubs and restaurants. Fareham is the nearest larger town (about 15 min drive) and has all main shops (M&S, Boots, BHS, Wilkos, TK Makk etc) as well as Tesco and Sainsburys and is a good choice if you don't want to go into Portsmouth or Southampton. There is a lovely children's play area on site and a great children's assault course at the woods at the top of the site, as well as some clearly signposted walks for those with some energy to let off!

Thankyou Rookesbury

I turned up here at 19:55 and dragged the poor warden out of his warm, dry caravan into the rain to let me through the barrier, having not booked or phoned ahead. Not a word of complaint did I recieve however, just directions to where I could best pitch and a polite request to call in at the office to pay in the morning. CC wardens come in for some stick sometimes, justifiably so in my experience, but the guys at Rookesbury are about the friendliest I've come across and I look forward to staying again - having booked ahead first!

Fab

Stayed here for two nights after our original choice of site was flooded. Wish we could have stayed longer as this was definitely our favourite site during our travels. The dog walk is a mini field, so great for the dogs to stretch their legs. The whole site is within a forest setting and is very peaceful and quiet. As it is set on a slope, the pitches are tiered and a nice distance apart. The facilities were very good and the play area a definite hit with the kids. Because it is in the forest, the route to it is along narrow winding roads and it's quite steep in and out. Not for the faint hearted!! Worth the drive though. Definitely on our list of sites to revisit.

Return to Rookesbury

I think this was our third visit to this campsite but the first with the motorhome. The site is a bit out in the sticks if you don't have your own transport but there are details of local taxi firms in the Information Room. Wickham is the nearest village and Reception can provide details of a short cut(!!!) which does not involve walking along roads, its just over two miles. The Kings Head in Wickham does a nice range of sandwiches and also meals and there are a good variety of shops in the village. The actual site is typical of many Club sites and members won't be disappointed in the standards. However one moan is that the motorhome service points have heavy metal covers which are a bit of bind to remove and replace. The site has WiFi but I found it very slow but that might just be the number of people on site. Mobile signal on my network was not much better!
