We have stayed on this site many times but always only for the single night as we catch or return on ferries from Portsmouth, however one day we will definitely spend more time as it really is a lovely well kept site in a beautiful location.
It may sound big at 149 pitches, but such is the layout you feel as though you are not crowded and have plenty of room. The woods and walks surrounding the site are excellent and the wardens who are really friendly look after it very well.
Highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
Just returned from 5 nights at Rookesbury Park. A spacious, clean and very peaceful site with 2 well maintained shower blocks.
Most of the grass pitches were closed due to a combination of the recent wet weather and clearly people not understanding the concept of lifting their groundsheets. So many of the pitches were just a larger square of mud/dead grass.
Wifi connection is abysmal.
Wardens were always cheerful and helpful although in one of the dishwashing areas there was a plug missing rendering one of the sinks out of use for the duration. This should have been easily spotted during the cleaning routine but clearly not.
Overall a very nice site with a cracking play area for young children and nice walks from the site.
This was our second visit to this lovely site. The wardens were always very helpful and cheerful. The site itself is very well placed and has good walks attached.
The only criticism was that the Wi-Fi was always going down or was oversubscribed. This also occurred at the Southlands site. Surely in this day and age it shouldn't be difficult to install a fast, reliable system capable of having multiple users??
Another 2 weeks at this wonderful site . Perfectly positioned for trips into Portsmouth and Southhampton and more .
We love the layout which gives pitches to suit all tastes and requirements .
Our preference is for grass pitches in one of its many sunny glades . When we were their recently it was evident that previous users had not lifted their ground sheets which at the end of the season left horrible muddy areas . What a pity people can't be more thoughtful about those coming after them .
Last but not least is the dedicated staff who keep everything in tip top condition .
Thank you wardens for making our stay so enjoyable . See you again next year .
We have been coming to Rookesbury for over 30 years. The site is still well managed and the facilities are in exceptional condition. Everything is so clean and well managed thanks to the team of wardens. For this visit I was particularly interested in the NEW trial camping area as both of children's families are camping hopefully prior to taking up caravaning. I was disappointed that campers cannot park their cars next to their tents which will be a huge turnoff to prospective campers. I also hope that the CC put in Electric hookup points asap. Modern campers with their fridges etc do need the hook up. Without it, it reduce the appeal of Rookesbury Park.
We had a very pleasant week at the site that we had not visited for six years. Although the weather was disappointing - very wet, we enjoyed our stay at this well run site. Toilet blocks excellently clean and wardens very helpful. We will come again!
Site split into small areas so you don't feel that you are on a big site. 2 toilet blocks means no waiting and they were always very clean.
Only stayed one night but really enjoyed it.
Visited the siite earlier this year and again in September. The site was nearly full and despite wet weather the toilet blocks were kept in excellent condition.
Booking in was quick and friendly.
This is the second time we have stayed here as the location is central for a variety of activities to include the Historic Dockyards as well as retail therapy at Gunwharf Quays.
The wardens are always smiling and helpful nothing is too much trouble.
I originally wrote a letter of complaint to the Caravan Club when the dog walk was halved in size to make way for tents.....I now feel sorry for the campers...having to walk to the facilities, leaving your car in an adjacent area, no electricity just solar lanterns around the edge...not sure where the water tap was...not surprised only two tents stayed for an odd night whilst we were there.
No fault of the wardens but please Caravan Club if you are going to invite campers at least do it properly.
