A Reall Gem

Excellent site, lovely walk into Wickham via the footpath.  Two shower blocks which were always clean.  Site highly recommended.

Excellent site

Site split into small areas so you don't feel that you are on a big site. 2 toilet blocks means no waiting and they were always very clean. Only stayed one night but really enjoyed it.

Well Worth A Second Visit

Visited the siite earlier this year and again in September. The site was nearly full and despite wet weather the toilet blocks were kept in excellent condition. Booking in was quick and friendly.

2 weeks in September

This is the second time we have stayed here as the location is central for a variety of activities to include the Historic Dockyards as well as retail therapy at Gunwharf Quays. The wardens are always smiling and helpful nothing is too much trouble. I originally wrote a letter of complaint to the Caravan Club when the dog walk was halved in size to make way for tents.....I now feel sorry for the campers...having to walk to the facilities, leaving your car in an adjacent area, no electricity just solar lanterns around the edge...not sure where the water tap was...not surprised only two tents stayed for an odd night whilst we were there. No fault of the wardens but please Caravan Club if you are going to invite campers at least do it properly.

A warm welcome

Arrived after 21h for a post-ferry pitch, tired and a little disoriented, and were warmly welcomed by the manager, who came out to  greet us, check we were OK and advise us about facilities. The washing facilities were stunning, and we appreciated the peaceful setting, surrounded by forest. The site seemed very popular and full, but we never heard our neighbours leave for the morning ferry - I hope we disturbed them as little!  A good base to explore Portsmouth and area, we hope to return for a proper visit.

Shame they've halved dog exercise area

Our first visit here. We loved it. Booked outside school holidays and the calm, tranquil site was just what we needed.  Beautiful walks through woodland to nearby Wickham village, Kings Head pub was overrated and delivered our 4 meals minus lots of items described on the menu, but that aside lovely village. A shame the M27 nearest exit is 10 because coming from our area you're unable to exit there so we had to drive to 11 and about turn back along to 10. My husband says onsite showers were the best he had ever used and I agree. Our only little gripe was that we heard from other caravanners that the dog walk area had been halved to make way for a tent field. Tent field empty during our week long stay and caravan pitches all full with waiting lists hoping for a pitch due to a cancellation. We would definitely return.

Another good weekend away.

Just come home after a good weekend at Rookesbury Park. Very warm welcome from the warden and every warden I spoke to was very polite and charming. I wanted to stay another night and wasn't able to because the site was full and even then I was told the news with a smile! Wonderful pitch and I turned the van around so it caught the sun from the west in the evening. Made all the difference. As usual the site was well cared for but not too "over managed" and the facilities were always in a pristine condition. Thank you.

Customer Relations Shortfall

I booked 3 nights at this site and received an e mail confirmation. Due to my wife being unexpected admitted to hospital and roadworks i was delayed getting to the site. I called ahead to advise I would be slightly late and arrived at 8.15pm, 15 minutes late of the 8pm closing time. I was shown to a late night slot and the next morning the nightmare started. An elderly lady warden approached me waging her finger at me saying " I'm very very annoyed with you. we kept a pitch all day for you and you called to say that you would be late , very annoyed ! " I tried to explain about my wife and roadworks but she did not seem to be interested. She then went on to tell me that I was only booked in for 2 nights and there was no chance of a 3rd night as the site was full. When I queried this, I got the reply " you would have been sent an e mail, why not check it ".As the site is in a email/mobile phone black spot I was unable to do so. Later in a local town i managed to log onto my e mail and had in deed received a conformation e mail FOR 3 NIGHTS . I showed this to the lady back at the site, who on reading the conformation appeared to lose her bluster and I stayed for 3 nights. I found her manner of dealing with a member of the club extremely poor and caused distress where this did not need to happen. My wife joined me on the 3rd day as my daughter's uni course had started, and I was very very annoyed by her aggressive and non-respectful attitude and it put a damper on the whole trip. The site itself and the other staff were fantastic.

Excellent stop off

We have used this site whenever we travel to France via Portsmouth.  It is an excellent overnight site but from research of the area also offers a fantastic location for the many attractions in the area.

Here we are again!

Another very peaceful stay at Rookesbury Park. This time we had our Grandson with us for his first caravan experience which he enjoyed together with the playground facilities. Visitors car parking was an issue though! and something we had not experienced previously. Apparently all available spaces were taken up by the time Grandson's parent arrived to take him home!
