So disappointed

Arriving at six, Friday evening ( after work and school ), we were left with a choice of three pitches. The row of grass pitches along the top edge of the site back on to the edge of the West bound A66, I would say about ten yards away. A row of brash, small treesand and a three foot slatted fence are the only thing between the back of your van and the 44 tonne lorries that literally roar past ever couple of minutes. There is no crash barrier between you and the road at this point of the A66. The traffic was heavy and continuous through the night. These 'pitches' simply are not suitable as pitches. The wardens were lovely and sympathetic, it's not their fault. The toilet block was spotlessly clean. No play area for children. Sorry to say, we won't be visiting again.

Great site in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales

This was our first visit to the Dales and we stayed for 7 nights. A very clean, well looked after Club site with attentive and friendly staff. The views across the Dales are stunning. There is so much beautiful countryside to see, towns and villages to visit and Yorkshire tea with toasted teacakes to consume but an absolute must is a 45 minute drive North up the A1 to Beamish open air museum. 25% discount on entry fees to Club members then step back in time to the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Ride on vintage trams and buses to get around (all part of the entry fee). This site is too well positioned to just be a stop over to and from Scotland. The area is great holiday destination for walkers, cyclists and sightseers. As other reviews advise, try to pitch away from the A66, towards the Southern end of the site. The noise isn't deafening but Eddie Stobart and friends do like to travel at night!

Great Site. Don't just stay a night.

Spent four lovely days at this site. Park away from the road if the noise of the road disturbs you. Had a tour round the villages and sights. A great part of the country. If coming back late evening avoid the Scotch Corner roundabout the signage is awful and you get to do a long detour if you get it wrong. We will be back to the site for a further period on our return from up north.

Return Visit

This was our second visit to this site, this time for a longer stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to give assistance when it was needed. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the pitches and surroundings well maintained. We were at the top of the site and noticed the road noise from the A66 but it was not too intrusive.

One Night Stay

We stayed one night on our tour of Scotland. The site is very clean and the wardens helpful. The pitch wasn't very level and had to use blocks. As we were in a motor home the facilities port was good but right at the back of the park which meant a drive around the site to access it. The site is noisy from the A1 and I would not want to stay here for any length of time. My biggest concern is the ladies facilities is tucked away around the back of the site with and not visible to the park. I felt very isolated and vulnerable as there was nobody around when it was dark and it is surrounded by a very large thick fence. This needs to be addressed.

Gorgeous and spotlessly clean

Wow, just returned from a lovely week at this site. Mary and Harry, the Site Wardens were so helpful and friendly. The shower block was spotlessly clean and the site beautifully kept. We used the site dog walk but there are also walks to take the dogs on off site just across the road is a bridle path (which crosses the A66) and is a lovely walk into Melsonby. The views from the site are stunning and it was very relaxing and peaceful - just what we needed- will be back again - just so glad we came. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent and friendly wardens!

Lovely exceptionally clean site really friendly and helpful staff. Shower blocks are stunning and immaculate. A little noisy with the road (A66) if you are close to it, dog walk isn't very bit and right at the side of the road so my dog a bit spooked. It would be excellent if there was a children's playground.

Beautiful site with stunning views

Beautiful clean, tidy site with stunning views. Very easy access from A1 and A66, there is some road noise but not enough to bother us. Amenities of the highest standard, a credi to the wardens. Views over hills made this site a pleasure to stay on, especially as most pitches you can park your van to make the most of the scenery. Will return.

Immaculate site

Picked up our first ever caravan on Friday 14th July (previously motorhomers). We had booked this site for two nights so that we could get used to everything, set it up and put all our gear in it for future trips. As we live in Richmond we obviously know the area very well! Having explained the reason for our stay to the wardens and how we were nervous about parking and getting sited etc, they were so helpful, putting us on a big spot that was quieter and putting us at ease by stating the obvious - everyone has a first caravan. The site is immaculate all over, extremely good facilities that were never busy and always pristine - my biggest bugbear about sites when motorhoming was less than clean showers etc. They were just so clean and the laundry, washing up rooms were the same. Disposal and water points were brilliant - and clean! As the site is near the A66 there is obviously road noise but nothing that spoils staying at the site.

Lovely Peaceful Site

I would highly recommend this beautiful site, very helpful wardens. Site is always kept immaculately clean and the showers blocks. We can not wait for a revisit soon.
