Pleasant relaxing site.

Just a small note to thank the wardens for a very enjoyable stay, a very clean and well kept site. The husband and wife warden team were more than helpful and were prepared to go out of their way to help, in no way do they deserve the criticism aimed at them by one disgruntled member.

Great location, excellent facilities

Very clean facilities. Great location close to A1 and next to A66. Wonderful views of the countryside. Some road noise from A66. Wardens very helpful. One of the very best kept sites in the Club.

UNEXCCEPTABLE ATTITUDE from the MALE WARDEN

BEWARE OF THE MALE WARDEN, if you do anything that’s he’s not happy with he will come down on you like a ton of bricks, quiet rightly so if you do something dreadful but all I did was drive over the corner of the grass while I was reversing my caravan into a pitch. I must have apologised 4 times for the incident. Appalling attitude, he talks to you like you are a child, I am 65yrs and I strongly object to this, he needs a people skills course. We had just arrived, there was no can I help you, are you in a mess, just goes for the throat, he only asked if we needed his help after he raised his voice and stomped around the caravan checking if there was any damage, as you can image we told him we will sort it..I will be putting a formal complaint in about this.. The site is nice, some pitches are level but there is a lot that’s needs levelling blocks. There is a lot of noise from the A66. The dog walk is hopeless, you still have to keep your dog on a lead.

Wonderful Site

I agree with most people about the site. The wardens could not be more helpful. It is a good location to explore the Yorkshire Dales. I would say that this is possibly the best kept site we have visited. No weeds or grass on the Hard Standings. Toilets spotless. They also keep dog owners to the club rules. I would recommend this site not only as a stop over but one to stay and explore. There is a bit of noise from the A66 but that is compensated by the wonderful view you get from your pitch. We look forward to visiting the site again. We stayed there last year although the weather was better then. Fist Class.

First time overnight stay

Had an overnight stay to visit a friend in Richmond. Lovely site with magnificent views. Wardens were very helpful in finding us a suitable pitch with easy access to the shower block. Nothing was too much trouble for the polite, friendly wardens. The shower block is spotlessly clean. The grounds are very well maintained with clipped hedges and short grass. The warden obviously keeps the grounds neat and tidy on a daily basis. The bus stop outside the site was a bonus for us in getting into Richmond. We will definitely return for a longer stay.

Easter break 2019

This is the second time we have visited the site, in just under 2 months. Its ideally located just 1.5hrs away from our home, which makes it the perfect getaway. We were greeted on site by the 2 wardens, Phil and his wife, who were extremely helpful. I'm always a Little nervous when we arrive on site, we don't come light, we have 5 dogs, extremely well behaved but 5 non the less. I always explain how well behaved they are and its was so nice for Phil to take a genuine interest in them. We chose our pitch, the same one as we had been on before due to us being out of the way and being able to have plenty of room for our canine lot! Yes you do hear the traffic, however, after a short wile the noise seems to become less and less, and this does certainly not spoil the site. Its clean, immaculate in fact, as are all the CAMC sites, the grounds are really well kept, and you can see a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes. The shop is well stocked, and the local eggs they sell are amazing! Both sets of wardens here are really lovely, and even though one other guest was extremely rude to one of them, the professionalism I witnessed was outstanding. This is fast becoming one of our favourite sites, and will be returning within the next few weeks! Thanks for a great time!

Excellent Site Easter Apr 2019

Have just returned from 5 nights and have nothing but praise for the wardens who keep the site in immaculate condition and is spotlessly clean and all very friendly. From out spot ( in the cul de sac) the noise was minimal but did lack a bit of greenery but I guess this is no ones fault just the lay of the land Plenty of tourist areas all in a short drive away and had a great few days and even the weather was gorgeous which is always a bonus

Easter 2019

All the usual great things about a club site, clean & tidy etc. We were booked as a base over Easter, yes the first night road noise from the A66 was present, but this did not impact our sleep & we quickly got used to it. Do expect to hear bird song though! Gilling West is accessed down a steep hill, so returning on foot is challenging - no shop only pubs. Richmond can also be walked to circa 5miles (passing the impressive Aske Hall & grounds), a taxi back is around £12, Darlington is a 15/20 min car ride away. There is a superb farm shop plus farm animals "on show" at Mainsgill Farm, about 5mins by car along the A66. Public transport is also available close by.

Lovely views

We booked for 1 night and it's everything you'd expect from a Club site, friendly wardens, spotless facilities, good pitches with easy access. The dog walk is good too. There's also a fenced off games area. We enjoyed a really nice meal in the White Swan just down the road at Gilling West. The big negative for us was the traffic noise, not just from the A66 but also the road past the site that goes to the local villages - there seemed to be loud traffic going past all night and it was just too much even using ear plugs. The views are stunning and the location is great so if you don't mind the near constant noise from traffic then it's a great place to stay.

Lovely Site But.......

We stayed on the site for eight days in mid October, on arrival we recieved a very friendly greeting from the warden who could'nt have been more friendly and helpful. To say it was close to the end of season and winter shut down of the site the facilities and pitches were immaculate even after the previous weeks storms which must have taken a lot of cleaning up afterwards. Very handy for Richmond and the Drumer Boys trail from the old station is a must do! Although we had a great holiday the only downside was the near constant noise of the traffic on the nearby A66 we did get used to it after a few days but at around 5am every morningthe heavy transport was quite noisy and enough to make us reconsider a longer stay in the future, we would however use the site for a lond weekend or stop over when on a long journey. Conclusion, Well kept site, brilliant wardens, spotless facilities but the traffic noise stops it getting a five star rating.
