Lovely site - But watch out for Noise and Wasps

We visited for a week over the August bank holiday. Putts Corner is a beautiful site. We have visited each year for the last 5 years or so. The wardens are friendly and efficient. Site is very tidy and shower blocks are spotless. On this trip unfortunately, the wasps were unbearable. Two of us were stung. We chose a grass pitch near the park and there must have been a nest in the trees. Not a fault of the caravan club, or the wardens, but very unpleasant. We also found the noise on site louder than usual too. Having 3 young kids, we are well used to noise!! However, regular aeroplane noise, dogs on site barking and road noise made the site seem noisy.

Fabulous stay

My family and dog stayed over the August bank holiday weekend. We had a great stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were immaculate. Dog walk accessible from site through the woods, ideal for a leg stretch. Our daughter had a great weekend and didn’t want to go home, the little play park was a bonus. We also walked from the site to the local pub. Recommend the carvery. Took the dog with us too. My wife took the dog to a local nature reserve - Knapp Copse, only 5 minutes drive from the site but good for an off lead walk which our dog needs. Quite undulating though, so prepare for a bit of a work out. On the doorstep of Sidmouth & Seaton - great location. Hopefully we will be back to explore the area more!

Great for children

Visited this site in school holidays with two children (6/8) and a dog. We were lucky to get pitched on a grass pitch near the playground. That said there are several pitches near us that are also free. We could see the playground from our pitch so were happy to let the children play with all the friends they’d made on the site. The playground is fairly small but was a magnet for children and ours loved the freedom of hanging out in the park without being hovered over. It went quiet there around 9pm each night. There are several couples here with no children so it’s not overrun despite it being school hols. There’s a dog walk on the site, it runs from near reception to the back to the site. Only a short walk but very pleasant through the trees. There’s a path at the back of the site that leads to the Hare and Hounds (a 2 min walk), we were very impressed with this pub. Children's menu, lovely fresh local food, local beers and reasonably priced. There’s a climbing frame in the beer garden and dogs are welcome outside and inside on one side of the pub so you can enjoy a meal with your dog there if you want. The site wardens were super friendly and helpful and the toilet block was absolutely spotless, we’ve stayed at many club sites before and these showers and toilets were some of the best. A small selection of essential supplies were available in reception - not a shop as such but they stocked milk etc. We are in the area visiting family and will definitely use this site again.

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay!

We have just stayed at Putts Corner for a weekend away and were not disappointed. Excellent clean facilities, the Site Managers Peter & Sandra were amazing, so helpful & friendly, plus by their assistants Clive & Stuart too. This is such a lovely site ideally located for exploring the local area, thanks for a great stay!

Lovely site

We have just returned from a second visit to this site. We went for Sidmouth Folk Festival which we really enjoyed. The only downside was issues with the bus service. Possibly not anyones fault as the Drivers were telling us that they had had to provide drivers and buses for the commonwealth games in Birmingham. Some days we waited an hour and a half. Having said that we hadn’t had that issue when we had stayed previously. The site itself is great and convenient for the Hare and Hounds pub which serves fabulous food and a good pint of Otter. A visit to Honiton is worth it, some nice independent shops and cafes. We will definitely stay again

Fabulous Site

We have just got back from a 14 night stay at this site. From arrival to departure we had a fantastic stay. The wardens were very nice and helpful, the facilities were always spotless and the site office / shop was very well stocked. We had a cream tea from there and the ice creams were very welcome with the weather we had. The site is very close to a pub, the Hare and Hounds, and close to a bus stop from which you could catch the bus into Sidmouth or other destinations. Overall an excellent site very well run by excellent wardens. We will return!

Excellent and helpful site

Just returned from a visit to Putts Corner the staff were excellent and helpful. The arrival procedure was first class when you reach the barrier go to reception and sign in , the facilities were always spotless. One downside for us being in our mid 80s was the walk through the woods to reach the bus stops. The pathway is quite rough in parts with large stones and roots exposed. We did mange though taking our time without any mishaps. On our last day we started to pack up , taking down the wind out awning one of the legs broke off. The awning didn’t appear to be locked in and Peter the warden kindly provided some cable ties. Also a Motorhomer from Crewe came over with steps and fixed awning in place with the cable ties plus providing further cable ties he had. So a big thankyou to the Peter and the couple from Crewe who came to our aid.

Frequent visitors

We use Putts Corner for last minute short breaks, convenient and close to home. Always a warm, friendly welcome from the wardens. Site is well maintained, and facility blocks always spotless - a large plus is the removal of shower curtains on all the sites!! One down side is the lack of site WiFi - perhaps this needs to be addressed.
