We spent 4 nights here in September. The site is well laid out and almost manicured grass. Unfortunately our pitch was not drained properly and when it rained heavily we had quite deep standing water across the full hard standing pitch onto the road. That aside the site is very good with extremely good facilities which were spotlessly clean, as you would expect. The wardens were helpful and engaging. The best thing about this site is it's location. Outside the site is the Poolsbrook country park with a walk around the lake, children's play equipment, toilets and a café that even has free Wi-Fi and some very good drinks/food. I understand from someone who knows it is good for the visiting birds. Then immediately outside you have access to the Trans Pennine Train where you can walk or cycle on a dedicated path. It also joins up to the Chesterfield Canal at Staveley where you can walk the tow path to Chesterfield with 2 cafes along the way. All in all excellent for walking and cycling. Staveley is a small, once mining, town with an array of pubs, eateries and a Morrisons supermarket with car park suitable for Motorhomes and fuel. It is about a 20 minute walk from the site and right by the canal.
Perfect Poolsbrook
Had a last minute weekend break here in our camper. Super location with the country park on the doorstep and Staveley a short 10 minute walk away for shops & market. Super facilities on site - nice modern toilet & amenities block. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful site
Haven't been here for four years and stopped for an overnight here on journey south. Still a wonderful site, beautifully kept, spotlessly clean and tidy. Great for walking and cycling. Must say a big thank you to the warden Margaret for her welcome, help and kindness. How lucky the Club are to have a gem of a warden. Will return again.
Great site, perfect for relaxation
This was our first trip away in our new motorhome. From check in we felt safe and looked after. All the other guests were friendly and helpful if we asked them for any tips. The shower and toilet block were exceptionally clean and we really did feel that everything was being done to protect us from COVID. We were only there for one night so did not really explore the surrounding area well. There is a good Morrisons store a walk away in Staveley however we would not necessarily recommend pubs in Staveley and found it difficult to find somewhere to eat.
We would definitely recommend the site.
A lovely site
A lovely site, the location is great for Poolsbrook Country Park, cycling on the Trans Penine Way or a trip into Chesterfield town.
Site and facilities are immaculate, staff very helpful and friendly. As others have said you can hear the road noise but it doesn't affect your stay in any way.
Pizza van on the Friday evening is a welcome bonus
We will be back as it is only 30miles from home so a nice location for a weekend trip after a busy week at work.
Will definitely return next year
Beautiful site, first time there and will certainly go back again next year. There was faint road noise in distance but didn't really distract at all. Although the entrance to the area is quite industrial, all the parkland and walks really bowled us over. The site was very attractive and well laid out. Staff very pleasant. Good wifi and telephone signal (vodafone). This will go down as one of our favourite club sites of all time.
Total Pleasure
This was our second visit to Poolsbrook, on arrival we were met by very friendly Wardens - Debs and Steve. They reacquainted us with the site, and the new Covid restrictions. On their recommendation we visited the Chatsworth estate and had a thoroughly enjoyable day walking and also trying a tipple of Steve the Wardens highly regarded ‘Chatsworth Gold’ which went down a treat on such a hot day. Poolsbrook site itself was well maintained with very clean facilities - in short a credit to the hardworking team there.

Excellent site
We stay here usually as a stop off point on our way up and down the M1. The site never fails to disappoint, excellent facilities and good place for generally relaxing when breaking your journey. The nearby park provides good facilities for dogs and walking in general.
First Visit under Covid Restrictions
Having stopped here on several occasions, this was the first under restrictions. Sat - Tues stop as a base to visit family locally. Arrival procedure was well handled after which the wardens were fairly anonymous. Site was pretty full on arrival but still allowed to chose pitch which we didn’t expect. Toilet block was limited to 2 x men and 3 x women under restrictions. We were fully prepared to use our own shower but surprisingly by picking your times there was not too much of a wait. Kept entertained by the professional moaners who reckoned they could run a better system! But have to admit, people regularly left the block without their ‘rubber bands’ which meant people waiting for nothing. All in all it seemed to work and the site served it’s purpose for us. The Background road noise seems to have become more intrusive especially at the weekends with the road apparently being used as a race track. You cannot therefore describe it as totally peaceful. As far as family facilities are concerned, there is no children’s playground but the nearby country park more than makes up for it. Plenty of space to walk the dogs off site and loads of poo bins that don’t always get used!
Great site
Just had a 5 night visit here and would definitely go again. Lovely location with lots of walking nearby for me and the dog. Country park on the doorstep, canal close by and so many footpaths to explore. Deb and Steve were extremely helpful when I had a problem with my gas bottle and thanks to for my neighbours who offered and provided assistance 😀.
Well maintained and clean site with good Covid 19 Safety employed by all.
Thank you.
