Lovely site, great location

This site is in a wonderful position close to the entrance to the country park. We particularly loved the traffic free cycling on cycle route 4 which runs along the coast in both directions from the site. There are places to stop for tea and wonderful views. Llanelli is a bit run down but we liked Carmarthen. Avoid Carmarthen on Mondays as the independent shops and cafes are closed. It would be worth checking if this applies to other towns too. We enjoyed a day at the Mumbles from where we hired bikes to cycle on the cycle path around the bay to Swansea marina. We also drove to Tenby which was a lovely town although worth avoiding at the weekends as it was very busy when we visited. Dinefwr, a National Trust house and park land, is about an hour’s drive away but we felt it was worth the journey. If you are reasonably fit make sure you visit the castle in the grounds for wonderful views. The beach at Pembrey is ideal for surfing and body boarding but we didn’t see anywhere to buy or hire boards in the country park. There isn’t a pub within walking distance of the site although there is a cafe in the country park which we didn’t try. Pembrey is close by and has some pubs. We enjoyed the Ship Aground which was quite lively when we visited. We found the milk and bakery vans which visited the site very handy and there is a small onsite shop if you need it.

Great stay. Watch out for biting insects!

Had a great 4 night stay on a Service Pitch over the warm and sunny Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Site was full. Service Pitches are wide but have almost no spare room at the back, beyond the gravel. Twin axle caravans pitch with their back ends right up to the hedge, in order to fit on. It was fine for our motorhome. The site is very popular with dog owners, so there is barking throughout the day but was nevertheless quiet overnight. We made good use of access to the Country Park, paying £6 to take our motorhome into the park all day and park anywhere within, which was fab. Just a word of warning, we were very badly bitten by some kind of gnat/mosquito both on site and in the Country Park and I would strongly advise wearing repellants on exposed skin to avoid the misery that I experienced. Facilities were great - operating with the system of 6 bands in the ladies/gents and even with the site full, there was very little queueing at peak time in the mornings. The wood fired pizza van had just resumed operating on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

2 night stay touring....

Lovely site, with a mix of grass & hardstanding. Warm welcome even though we were only booked in for 2 nights. Great location for the mix of country park & a large expanse of beach. we had miles of it virtually to ourselves although not the ideal weather for it..... Ideal for families, we intend to bring our grandchildren with us next time! Shower & toilet block clean & well managed. Having used our own facilities for 10 days was lovely to have that longer shower..... :-) Recommended.

Excellent for dog owners and families

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a two week stay in Pembrokeshire. Description of the site is accurate. Well kept, quiet site with stacks to do for families and great for dog owners. Walks straight from site into park and superb beach and woodland walks available. Daily milk, eggs and orange juice available from local delivery van plus bread delivery also made the rounds. Will definitely be back for a return visit when we come back to this area. Well worth a visit.

A relaxing stay

We were lucky to be blessed with 10 days of sunshine for our second visit to Pembrey. Main facilities were all closed due to C19 regulations but we managed fine in the van. Site is well managed and maintained and there was a very peaceful atmosphere for the whole time we were there. We enjoyed lots of great cycling on the many local paths as well as forest and beach walks on the doorstep. We loved the location and explored a little further afield as well this time with trips to Rossili Beach on the Gower, Tenby to see Wally the walrus and Llansteffan for spectacular walks on the headland. Thanks again wardens for keeping us all safe and providing a lovely environment to relax in.

Autumn splendour

We've just enjoyed 3 days here and were thrilled with the autumn colours still on the trees. In addition, the bird life was spectacular, thanks in part to our neighbour having a feeding station in front of his 'van. The 2 person restriction for the shower blocks didn't cause problems as the site was around half full, but the amount of yellow and black hazard tape throughout, we felt, was excessive, like going into a war zone! We cycled each day along the trail to Llanelli and on our third day diverted up the Swiss Valley path before coming off at Cynheidre and looping back to Pwll. From there we continued back around the coast to Cefn Sidan, where the kite surfers treated us to some amazing tricks over the waves. All in all, a pleasant visit again for us and great to get away, even for a few days.

Excellent Location

This was our first visit to this site and we thoroughly enjoyed it despite the weather. It’s location next the the Country Park and Coastal Path ensure there is plenty to do and see. The nearest shops are in Burry Port almost 3 miles away but an easy walk or cycle.

Always a great stay but spoiled this time by crazy toilet block system

We often come to this site, especially with our grandchildren as they love the freedom, the playground, the park and the tarmac for biking and skating. This is very much a family site and the children make friends every time. However, if you don't like children around, then during school holidays, this isn't the site for you. It's quiet at night as there are no roads nearby but there can be some military aircraft noise at times in the day and there's a race circuit a few miles away where cars and bikes can be practising on certain days. What spoilt this trip was the crazy system with the toilet block. We didn't use it much during Covid but sometimes you need to. It may have changed now but in August they had the small block permanently closed (staff only) and the other block limited to 2 people and closed for 2 hours in the morning and 45 mins in the afternoon. Madness. Everyone understands the need for care during the current crisis but this was just ridiculous. Long queues; people in the queue turned away at 10.00, etc. We have stayed on other sites in Wales and England since July and none were as heavily restricted and seem to work fine. This wasn't just our view but everyone staying here. The block could also do with updating and when you consider the fees charged by the Club these days you wonder where all the money is going. I'm not alone in this view. Apart from that and the usual infestation of dogs, we enjoyed.

Not a peaceful site during school holidays.

Pembrey is in a lovely location but the site is starting to suffer from very noisy family groups, with children cycling in all direction during the day and older kids hanging around after dark! The wardens are nowhere to be seen during the day to control these kids and disappear after dark despite very noisy families drinking late into the night. The toilet block only allows two people at a time, when similar size sites we’ve stayed at allow 4 people. No reason for this and it creates queues and frustration at the toilet blocks. It seems like the more facilities that are taped close the less work for the wardens!! I’m hope that’s not the reason. Question: how does a mum or dad shower younger children if they have more than one child? Mum or Dad back and fore multiple times with each child. Easily resolved by opening up the second toilet block for family groups only! Come on site, use your imagination and be helpful to your members. No cover over the booking in hatch which is now outside. So you’ll get very wet waiting to book in. Come on, put up a temporary cover. Disappointing site that I won’t use for a while as all I want is a peaceful site with accessible facilities.

Pembrey Country Park

This is a lovely site set just outside Pembrey Country Park. The Park is around 550 acres, so there is lots of good walking and the beach is close by. The site was very clean and tidy, and the wardens were friendly, helpful, and hard working. Due to Covid we have not used any of the toilet blocks this year, so can;t comment on those. There is lots of good cycling through the park and along the costal path, its a 15 minute ride to Burry Port where there are supermarkets, fish and chip shops and a lovely harbour. We have stayed on this site quite a number of times and iys one of our favourites, highly recommended
