Well run and very clean

We stayed here for a total of 12 nights. Mix of grass and hardstanding pitches. Approach and direction were simple to follow and booking in was easy. Then to find a pitch you like - interesting to watch people swapping pitches and using various ways of *reserving* favoured pitches. We got lucky with our pitch on the outskirts as someone vacated just as we arrived at 3.00. There was some daytime building noise from a property close by but at night it was very quiet. The staff here seem to be on the go constantly keeping the site clean and tidy. Superb access to the neighbouring Country Park which has lots to offer and a lot of visitors but is so vast we rarely met anyone else while walking through it. Beach access nearby fantastic and rarely had anyone else on it. As others have mentioned, the wet/ humid conditions of the park nextdoor are perfect for monster size mosquitoes and horseflies, despite being liberal with the citronella we did get bitten a fair bit. A nice site and seemingly quite popular with local people too. We didn't use the facilities so cannot comment, but did have to request a replacement hose for a badly fitting/leaking service point which was changed the same day.

Well-kept site

Well kept site in a great location by the entrance to Pembrey Country Park. Large pitches - a mix of grass, hardstanding and fully serviced. Friendly staff keep the site in pristine condition. Great location for cycle trips along the coast path.

Lovely stay BEWARE OF MOSQUITOS

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but with the help of the very friendly wardens left a day early. I was badly bitten by mosquitos the weather had turned very warm and was then wet. I do feel repellant should be stocked in the shop and a warning somewhere. The site itself is perfect a good mix of grass and hard standing, we had a hardstanding with a generous amount of grass around us. The facilities are good but in order to use the motorhome service point you have to go through the exit after use and back in again. We were politely told we couldn’t use the other point with a motorhome. We luckily took a waste trolley and a watering can. The toilets are closed for an hour and a half and is the only block. We will return but armed with lots of repellant. Maybe. Loved the country park and beach. So peaceful at night. No shops around so the milk van and bread and grocery van are a godsend. Unfortunately in the week no meal vans visit. But there is a pizza van at the weekend.

Great location, great team, what's not to like?

We spent 3 nights here exploring the Country Park with our dogs and had a marvellous time. We walked into the Country Park every day and varied our walks between beach and forest trails. As we had arrived from the Gower, we didn't need to go back over to the beaches there but they are very accessible had we needed to. We ventured into Burry Port to visit friends and can recommend the Crazy Crepes in the harbour! Pembrey is a great site with a nice balance of grass and hard standing pitches, nice relaxed atmosphere and the team are fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend it

Fantastic Family Holiday at this site

We've just spent 8 nights having a great time here. From the initial call (late booking due to overseas holiday cancelled) Gail and John were brilliant - our motorhome is 10m we fitted nicely on the hardstanding pitch with a freshly cut grass area around us. We use our onboard facilities & my only comment regarding the pitch is that there are not many water points close by- In a motorhome bring an aqua roll and pump to fill up and save the hassle of 'unsetting' everything and driving around the site to the service points! A waste hog is ideal for the grey & black tanks. Although, we were very lucky, John (one of the wardens) was amazing, I passed my hose to him on his season pitch next door to fill up - this was fantastic and incredible service. We were blessed with amazing sunshine...great for sitting out...also great for the huge mosquito type flies... bring your repellent and candles if sitting out in the summer.! The site is right next to the country park, you can cycle in or walk in FOC - we cycled every day along the coastal path, one day to Llanelli - its lovely, flat and plenty of stop offs for a cuppa or ice cream. A very friendly site for all ages, we have a 14yr old with us, lots of families, dogs on site, we didn't hear any barking at night. Our daughter loved the stone baked Pizza oven that visits the site Friday and Saturday. The site does go very quiet at night, we sat out at 9pm sipping a cold wine and it was quiet, maybe everyone was in their unit avoiding the mozzys? :) The wardens especially John and Gail go above and beyond to make sure you have a brilliant stay - we will be back for sure. Thanks for a great week ;)

Great site, beautiful location.

The hard standing pitches are soulless, regimented and in my opinion, too small. The grass pitches are fabulous though, loads of room which gives you a relaxed space. Best part of this site are this season’s wardens who are superb. Friendly, polite, efficient and unobtrusive. I was rightly admonished for an error on my part but this was delivered with such charm, skill and subtlety that it was impressive. I frequently read negative comments about wardens but have nothing but admiration for the team at Pembrey. I highly recommend this site if you want proximity to a beach, great cycling and a holiday away from bars, restaurants and shops (there aren’t any) ... heaven. If you are adults who don’t like children then this site isn’t for you because it’s very popular with families and the kids made loads of noise playing about the site. Personally the sound of kids playing and enjoying themselves gives us joy but understand that some seek to avoid it; just so you’re aware.

Lovely site, great location

This site is in a wonderful position close to the entrance to the country park. We particularly loved the traffic free cycling on cycle route 4 which runs along the coast in both directions from the site. There are places to stop for tea and wonderful views. Llanelli is a bit run down but we liked Carmarthen. Avoid Carmarthen on Mondays as the independent shops and cafes are closed. It would be worth checking if this applies to other towns too. We enjoyed a day at the Mumbles from where we hired bikes to cycle on the cycle path around the bay to Swansea marina. We also drove to Tenby which was a lovely town although worth avoiding at the weekends as it was very busy when we visited. Dinefwr, a National Trust house and park land, is about an hour’s drive away but we felt it was worth the journey. If you are reasonably fit make sure you visit the castle in the grounds for wonderful views. The beach at Pembrey is ideal for surfing and body boarding but we didn’t see anywhere to buy or hire boards in the country park. There isn’t a pub within walking distance of the site although there is a cafe in the country park which we didn’t try. Pembrey is close by and has some pubs. We enjoyed the Ship Aground which was quite lively when we visited. We found the milk and bakery vans which visited the site very handy and there is a small onsite shop if you need it.

Great stay. Watch out for biting insects!

Had a great 4 night stay on a Service Pitch over the warm and sunny Spring Bank Holiday weekend. Site was full. Service Pitches are wide but have almost no spare room at the back, beyond the gravel. Twin axle caravans pitch with their back ends right up to the hedge, in order to fit on. It was fine for our motorhome. The site is very popular with dog owners, so there is barking throughout the day but was nevertheless quiet overnight. We made good use of access to the Country Park, paying £6 to take our motorhome into the park all day and park anywhere within, which was fab. Just a word of warning, we were very badly bitten by some kind of gnat/mosquito both on site and in the Country Park and I would strongly advise wearing repellants on exposed skin to avoid the misery that I experienced. Facilities were great - operating with the system of 6 bands in the ladies/gents and even with the site full, there was very little queueing at peak time in the mornings. The wood fired pizza van had just resumed operating on the Friday and Saturday evenings.

2 night stay touring....

Lovely site, with a mix of grass & hardstanding. Warm welcome even though we were only booked in for 2 nights. Great location for the mix of country park & a large expanse of beach. we had miles of it virtually to ourselves although not the ideal weather for it..... Ideal for families, we intend to bring our grandchildren with us next time! Shower & toilet block clean & well managed. Having used our own facilities for 10 days was lovely to have that longer shower..... :-) Recommended.

Excellent for dog owners and families

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a two week stay in Pembrokeshire. Description of the site is accurate. Well kept, quiet site with stacks to do for families and great for dog owners. Walks straight from site into park and superb beach and woodland walks available. Daily milk, eggs and orange juice available from local delivery van plus bread delivery also made the rounds. Will definitely be back for a return visit when we come back to this area. Well worth a visit.
