No need to leave

Pembrey is a little haven beyond the main tourist areas of the Gower. 7.5 miles of sandy beaches of which about 200 metres are a no dog zone and lifeguarded. Huge areas of wooded cycling, a dry ski slope, a couple of cafes and a few ice cream vans. The site itself is impeccably clean and maintained, it has some classic South Wales traditions which highlight why you won't have to leave the site. It has a milkman delivery van, a baker/grocer van in the mornings, and an ice cream van in the evenings that travel around the site and parp their horn. Its become our new favourite location.

An excellent introduction to the Caravan Club!

This was our first caravan holiday and we couldn't have chosen a better place to start. The site was excellent, from the check in when we arrived to the excellent warden who congratulated the children on finding all the hidden clues around the site. A great location with the beautiful Pembrey Beach just a quick cycle ride away. Thoroughly recommended

Holiday Park

When reading the reviews on this website for this Caravan Site, I’m not quite sure if they’re referring to the same site we’ve recently just spent a week visiting? Also, judging by some of the comments by other fellow club members that we were pitched next to, they’ll probably agree. The site itself is a lovely and well kept site with good sized and clean pitches. The site is right next to the entrance to the Pembrey Country Park with its woodland walks and miles of open sandy beaches with various activities on the Park to entertain children. The Site Wardens are helpful, the shop ok and the milkman and baker calling round each morning were a nice touch which the whole family enjoyed. However, we were expecting to spend our weeks holiday at the usual type of Caravan Club Site that we enjoy and not this type of commercial ‘Holiday Park’. We knew it was peak holiday season when we booked but didn’t expect….. continual dogs barking, dog mess left on the road outside our pitch – once with no sign of dog owner and once when our neighbour had to actively encourage the owner to clean it up before they tried walking off. We didn’t expect ball games close to our caravan on several occasions or groups of children cycling round on bikes without a care for the speed limits, the one way road system, the barriers or cars or footpaths or us! We didn’t expect the limited number of toilets and showers that were available and we certainly didn’t expect to find the unacceptable level of cleanliness in the toilets block. Each day the facilities were cleaned thoroughly but each day they soon became filthy to a point where we didn’t actually want to use them. Surely, as a Club, we can’t expect the Wardens to have to clean up such mess on a daily basis? As for the local area, we were disappointed to find so little to do locally. The beaches were good, the local castle was fun but there was little to keep our family entertained without driving miles. We even struggled to find a pub or restaurant that looked inviting to try ¬– a first holiday for us without spending on food or drink out! Not even one pint or coffee!!! Pembrey Park was good for walking around but by the end of the week we found visiting uncomfortable. Maybe this was due to the Police helicopter hovering over one evening looking for a man believed to be carrying a firearm…. or perhaps it was due to thieves targeting a ‘pop-up’ caravan site on the Park… or perhaps visitors to the Country Park being able to enter the Club Caravan Site without question which we also witnessed. Perhaps we had mistimed our visit, but one thing for sure. We won’t be returning.

Calm and relaxing site

I am lucky as Pembrey is only about an hour away from home, very handy for a sneaky weekend away. I have used this site a few times in the last year. Always a warm welcome from wardens. I have used both hard standing and grass pitches, no issues levelling as most pitches are fairly level. good access to site with my t/a caravan. Wardens are always friendly and helpful. I cant wait to return to Pembrey, fabulous walks and very relaxing atmosphere.

Favourite site

We have just had a week at this fantastic site ,first time of pitching on grass we usually do hard standing ,but my daughter was on grass so  thought we would try it ,had a great pitch ,this is one of our favourite sites ,I agree with a comment that the play area needs upgrading to accommodate younger children .The wardens are fantastic nothing is too much trouble for them ,they make your holiday more enjoyable ,not too strict with do's and donts ,they do a really good job as this is a very busy site .cant wait to book again for next year .i noticed someone commented on noisy children if you don't want to go to this site that is full of children then go to an adults only site ,it is a family site

One of the best.

I am very fortunate to live only an hour away from the Pembrey Site. It is well run by very friendly wardens, who are ready to help, if help is needed. The Site is clean and tidy, the shower blocks are spotless. Mind you, there one or two folk who decide that cleaning up after they shower is not for them. Shame!!! Its in a wonderful location, good for walks, cycling, and close to the beach. Can't speak highly enough of the site. We shall return................Honest.

Lovely site spoiled by noisy children at all hours

This was a lovely site and like so many others have said, the facilities are great and the wardens are really helpful and friendly. We were there for a week between 2nd and 9th August and it was really busy throughout that period with families; not surprising really given the proximity to the country park and the superb beach. What spoiled it for us though was the fact that there were children racing around the site on bikes, giving no heed to speed limits nor the one way system.  On more than one occasion I saw that only the fast reactions of one of two children avoided nasty head on collisions and my own 8 year old son ended up being forced off the road as older kids were blocking the entire width of the roadway. On top of that, the kids seemed not to have received (or were ignoring) guidance from their parents about acceptable noise levels in the late evening. On most nights there was still running around and screaming by large groups of children up to and sometimes beyond 10pm.  Our kids felt very agrieved when we were telling them to stop making noise within our van, as they recognised that their noise was nowhere near as bad as those kids outside, many of whom were much younger than them.  I don't want to be a spoilsport, but it was my holiday too and by the late evening I want some peace and quiet. That all said, I would happily give this site another go at some time in the future as our two children really enjoyed it and, with more than a mere hint of irony, they liked the fact that there were so many children on the site.  That is only natural as the site we are on this week has, shall we say, a substantially higher average age group.
