First visit to the site 24-26 April. Toilet Blocks were very clean and tidy. The morning bread delivery, newsagent and other vendors most welcome. The site shop is well stocked with most essentials. First day we walked to Port Berry, the route well marked out and the cycle trails clear. The only downside has to be owners who have noisy dogs which spoil the peace and quiet of the site. The nearest pub 'Pembrey Country Inn' is an excellent choice for a pint and a meal.
Excellent location for exploring the area made even better by excellent weather. Great to be able to walk into Chirk, local people very friendly. Site was quiet although it was busy. Pitch excellent made even better with morning sunshine. Only downside, shower block a little dated compared to other sites, in need of some TLC and upgrade.
Great site for families. Good access to walking, cycle routes and beach. Dog friendly, we had our 9 year old Cocker Spaniel with us. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean and well maintained. Visiting traders useful for bread and newspapers. Noise was fairly quiet despite the site being very busy. Only down side was some dog owners did not follow the site rules and allowed their dos to wander. Also noted some arrivals were allowed on as early as 9.30am. This we felt was unfair as it did not allow staff enough time to either have a break or carry out maintenance. It was also unfair to members arriving later in the day. If they werd allowed on because they have travelled a long way and made prior arrangement this was not know.
We enjoyed the location and the many walks in the area; and although the weather was not always sunny and warm it did not stop us from walking around the adjacent park and visiting many of the local towns.
The site, according to the site map, can accommodate about 125 pitches and during school holidays the place is likely to be full. This was the case when we were there and our only concern is that the facility is a single block with a small annex. When there are in excess of 250 people on the site the four showers and one hairdryer per gender is probably not enough during peak hours. The annex, with facilities for two people, is open when the main block is being cleaned.
Pembrey is a fantastic site with fantastic wardens, The site is brilliantly located, there are umpteen things to do in Pembrey Park, fabulous walking and cycling. We loved it. Only one observation to make - I have never seen so many dogs on one site at one time.
Great site within Pembrey Country Park and a 20min walk to beach. Having only 1 main shower block didn't cause a problem even with the site being full. Lovely milk and newspaper deliveries in morning by way of local man delivering around site in his car. Only minor problem would be that the kids on their bikes not caring about what direction, speed and just leaving their bikes in the road whilst coming in and out of site in our car. Lovely site with great wardens who always greeted you with a smile.
Love this site, only booked to stay 3 nights but loved it so much decided to stay extra two nights.look forward to our next stay at the end of the month.
Had a fantastic break over Easter at Pembrey. Wardens are brilliant and extremely helpful and hardworking. The site is very close to the park and not far to get to the long sandy beach. Great for cycling and walking the dogs. A lovely part of Wales with lots to see and looking forward to our return visit in just over a month.
If you are in need of a relaxing break away from it all – look elsewhere!
Of all the years I have been touring this has to be my least favourite site, even to the point of I think the club should re-evaluate if its worth keeping on the books. The site is overcrowded during school holidays with only one facilities block in the middle of the park, with 4 showers in each. Meaning unless you like to be up and showered before 07:15 you will have to either suffer the queues or resort to showering in your own van if you wish – on several occasions the facilities blocks were left filthy be previous users – not the wardens fault as they were cleaned daily, but probably just more to do with the frequent use.
Then there is the noise!. Everyday a bakers van and a milk and paper man come to the site to sell their products – sounds like a great idea doesn’t it.. But instead of coming to the site entrance where people can go and get their paper and milk if they would like, the wardens think it’s a great idea to let them on the site, they drive around every morning at about 9 am blasting their horns to get your attention – Warden should make them wait in the visitors car park and put a board up that says to everyone coming to the park – that they are there at 09:00 – till 09:30 if you want them – don’t let them on the park driving well above the 5 MPH limit blasting horns as this isn’t conducive to a good holiday for anyone. Combine this with the noise coming out of the country park with motorbikes, cars, horse rally’s, steam fairs etc. and I’ve needed to come home for a rest!
Combine all the above with the very lacklustre welcome from wardens who honestly appear to be cheesed off with being there - and it has to be honestly the worst site I have ever stayed at, I won’t be returning!
We had a lovely weekend at Pembray, sunshine helped but the site is beautiful, wardens helpful and loos clean! Bring your bik because the park is perfect for all to explore on wheels.
