Pandy Club site Review

We recently stayed at the Pandy Club site for six nights. The site staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and work very hard to keep the site well maintained and attractive. The site is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Forest of Dean as well as a host of other nearby towns. The adjacent train line can be a bit noisy, especially in the early hours of the morning, however we were aware of this before visiting the site and in any case is outside of the control of the site staff or club. There are no facilities (play equipment) for children on site, so be aware if traveling with young ones. There are some really good pubs nearby, that serve good food and drink. Our particular favourite was The Carpenters Arms in nearby Walterstone. A great site for a short stay whilst passing through, or as a base for a slightly longer stay. Great staff, lovely scenery.

'Handy Pandy!' A good location for touring

We spent week at Pandy, the location just off the main road A465, (dont use sat nav to get here) some 15 minutes from the Market Town of Abergavenny Was excellent for our needs. The site though seemed fully booked when we arrived, it didnt seem busy, with tourers coming and going after staying for a few nights. The wardens were lovely, very friendly. The site has wonderful facitlites, spotless, the showers lovely and very hot, infact my daughter (6) describes the shower like going in a car wash..she loved it! Having read previous reviews, stating not really a family site? Our children 6/13 loved it, there was an area where they could kick a ball, throw frisbee, though small, quite adequate for our needs. There is a lovely little walk past this to the river, where the children and the dog happily paddled (the dog swam!) and sheep from the fields under a lovely old railway bridge walked across the to another field! Yes there is a regular train service (passenger and freight), yes they are often but they fly past and you get used to it, We pitched on a grassed area on the opposite side to the train line, you can hear the river honduu, which was lovely to wake up to. During our stay we visited the local castles, White, Skenfrith both wonderful! Stopped for a beer at Wales oldest Pub and visited Llanthony Abbey small but stunning. We travelled to Waterfall Country (highly recommended) and spent 5 hours visiting all the waterfalls, not for the fainthearted getting to and from the last waterfall approx 160 steps up and down to get to it, but well worth visiting. All in all a lovely stay at Pandy.

Excellent for short stays

Friendly clean and well laid out. Perhaps a bit to quiet for families although there is an area of grass at the one end of the site that would be an ideal location for family pitches. Good local pub guide provided

So good, we stayed twice in 10 days

What can we say, Pandy club site is great. The Hosts are so friendly and keep the site immaculate. The facilities are very good and were cleaned at regular intervals during the day to ensure Covid safety measures were maintained. We booked 10 days away touring Wales. After staying at Pandy for 3 nights we went to the west coast, Shawsmead. Our intention was to go north after to Shawsmead but we had enjoyed Pandy so much we returned for the final 3 nights of our break. The pub on the corner was also really friendly and provided me some ice for my G&T when we went back to the camp site. Food there was also good and well priced. We will definitely be returning, hopefully in the not too distant future.

Good location

A well ordered larger site with excellent facilities. Enjoyed the mountain walk up to Offa's Dyke offering great views. The train line is nearby but although noisy, the trains are infrequent and short!

Lovely well kept site.

Lovely spacious & well kept, level site with helpful wardens. Trains are only about once an hour for a few seconds as they whizz by, so didnt disturb us at all, though our pitch was in the central area of site. Very little road noise due to the embankment in any case. Dog walk grassed area great, with a little extra wander through the wood between river and rail embankment, but other walks direct from site limited.

Great site - Pity about the Trains

Pandy is a lovely site with all the necessary amenities in top order. The site staff were excellent and very helpful when we arrived. The site has extremely easy access from the main Abergavenny- Hereford road. Our pitch was very level and needed no adjustment at all. The site is well tended and very pretty and it's in a great location for walks in the Black Mountains and further, the Brecon Beacons. The staff worked hard to maintain cleanliness standards during the latter days of the pandemic restrictions. There's a pub just outside the site and it's a good, no-nonsense pub serving serving the usual pub grub which was fine. There's only one major drawback to this site - the noise. I was awoken at just after 0400hrs in the morning by a train running down the adjacent (50m) track and I counted three more trains in the hour to 0500hrs. It was impossible to sleep thereafter. I wouldn't recommend this site because the ambient noise during the day and night - what a shame!

Another visit to Pandy

We've stayed at Pandy quite a few times and have just enjoyed another few days here in our campervan. This time was the 1st time we have been when the site was full but I still felt there was plenty of space. The site had all COVID precautions in place but sadly I too often met other site users not using face coverings in the toilet/shower block. - I do not like using a mask but am happy to do so if this means I can camp again.

Rest place after Offa's Dyke

We stayed at this site for one night in June 2021. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the site is clean and tidy and showers very welcome.
