Lovely site

A great location. Limited dog walking immediately off site, but a short drive to Simonside Forest opens up huge walking opportunities. The site is really well kept and the wardens are fine folk. Nearby Rothbury has a good co-op and also a Country Store for loading up on goog dog food. I will definitely return.

A real gem!

This was our first visit to Nunnykirk but definately won't be our last. Upon arrival staff were friendly and helpful and we pitched without any problems. Site and facilities were well looked after and maintained. The site was ideally located for either coastal or inland trips. Rothbury which is not far had great pubs/shops. My partner found the location ideal for cycling. A must for a tea time treat is The Dyke Neuk a local pub which was recommended by the warden and a couple of holidaymakers.

Lovelly and peaceful

Flat grassy site by river in forested area. Clean water/waste facilities (no toilet block as per site details). Really helpful staff. The nosiest part was a pheasant who kept coming over to our Motorhome! Great place well sighted for local National Trust sites and Alnwick Castle

Got stuck

Unusually for a Club Site this site does not have a toilet block, but this is something you know when you book. The site is grass only and when we visited was very waterlogged. We were warned that others had got stuck on site that very day and were given 3 pitches to chose from. Sure enough my 6m motorhome got stuck almost as soon as it hit the pitch. The site provided mats which were unsuccessful in freeing my motorhome. There was no shortage of offers of help from fellow members, including offers of towing by 4x4 owners. Unfortunately no one had a tow rope! I thought given the known problems the site owner might usefully invest in a tow rope for incidents such as mine.

What a difference a loo block makes

Lovely quiet site without the endless line of people traipsing back and forth day and night to the shower block. It makes such a difference to how peaceful the site is and how much privacy the pitches have. Waste and water facilities are top notch as expected, although no official motorhome service point you can get close enough to the one in the main field to empty and fill with ease. Wardens were great, the site was very wet when we stayed, they had reserved a number of pitches suitable for motorhomes and we had choice of four as we were first of the bookings to arrive. Why can't more sites be like this?

IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT SURELY?

We've been to Nunnykirk three times in 45 years so we're hardly regular visitors. However, it's always been a pleasure to experience a simple, straightforward site set in a pleasant location within 15 minutes drive of Rothbury and a number of National Trust properties. Rural but not isolated one might say. Knowing Northumberland very well, it's not an area that you'd head for if you are seeking sun, warmth and "retail delights" (an oxymoron if ever there was one) Peace and tranquility reign here and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to families with young or teenage offspring. Give it a whirl and bring your waterproofs and wellingtons - you never know, you might get hooked on the quiet life.

Peace and tranquillity

Just returned from a few days at Nunnykirk, so upset that it is now closed until next year and that the absolutely lovely wardens will not be returning next year. They are always so happy cheerful and helpful, nothing is too much trouble, he even helped us fix our break away cable, They will be a great miss, but we wish them well in their future endeavours. The site itself is so peaceful and a great place to recharge your batteries. But please do tell anyone.
