It was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. The welcome was very warm and informative with details given about the several pitches that were available. The site itself is very well tended, with lots of flowers around and neatly mown grass. I had read previous reviews about noisy cockerels and road noise but they were not a problem to us at all. We hardly noticed.
We enjoyed the circular walk to How Hill via St Benet's Abbey along the river. The cafe at How Hill has a lovely outside terrace overlooking the garden and the river and was a delightful place to enjoy the cake and coffee in the sunshine. We also bought 'The Broads by Bike' booklet from reception and cycled routes four and eight taking us to places such as Potter Heigham, Horsey Mere, Barton Broad and Horning. The site is only a few minutes walk from the river and it was nice to wander down there in an evening and sit for a while.
Our only issue was that as usual there were several people ignoring the Covid rules regarding the use of face masks and not entering the toilet block when there were already three people inside. It is very difficult for the wardens to police the rules but it would be nice if everyone could put safety first.
Our second visit to this lovely site
This a perfect base for exploring the beautiful Broads and also not too far from the coast. the site is set in separate sections with large well-spaced pitches. The noisy cockerels that others have mentioned didn't bother us at all and we were quite close to them. We love this site as we are keen canoeists, it is very easy to access the River Ant from there and we enjoyed several great day paddles. There are also lovely walks from the site and easy access to food shops, the pizza van which calls twice a week was excellent. The on-site staff were very pleasant and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and shall return
Tour of Norfolk
A very clean Covid safe site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Short walk to a river and shop that sold delicious ice cream followed by a walk along the river. We took bikes and cycled to a boat yard where we hired a boat for the day. There is a pub very close but didn’t get chance to visit it.
A very peaceful relaxing 3 night holiday and will definitely return
Very pretty well maintained site
This was our first outing with our recently purchased touring caravan. Check in was very easy and we chose a hard standing pitch because of the wet weather. The site is very pretty and immaculately maintained with a designated dog walking area.
We found all the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The warden was out and about every day, emptying bins, cutting the grass etc. And always ready to offer advice, or just a friendly chat.
.
There's a dog friendly pub about 5 minutes walk away, we didn't eat there, but enjoyed the beer garden. There's also a little shop/general store 5 minutes away which stocks all the basics, plus gifts and ice-creams. The owners are also very friendly and offered to reserve a daily newspaper for us.
It's a quiet location, and yes, there are cockerels on an adjacent property, but the early morning 'cock a doodle doo' really didn't bother us. We woke up to bird song and saw baby rabbits playing in the hedges surround the pitches.
There's a pizza van that visits the site and also an ice-cream van.
We look forward to returning to this pretty little site.
Lovely site in a good location
Our first visit to this site (mid May) and have to say we weren’t disappointed with the layout and facilities - we arrived just as the showers were reopened following the easing of lockdown restrictions. As always a warm and friendly welcome from the stewards. Although the site was busy, there were still a good number of pitches to choose from. The toilet facilities were spotlessly clean and warm as is the standard we come to expect on club sites.
A good central Norfolk location we managed trips to Cromer, Norwich and around the broads. This being our first trip to the ‘broads’ its a lovely part of the country and we should have done more research before we arrived and didn’t really see fully what the area has to offer. For that reason we’ll be back for another visit to be sure and take full advantage of the walking, boats and cycling that are available on your doorstep.
A fantastic family friendly site
We have just returned from our first and most certainly not our last visit to this site.
The first thing that greats you is how immaculately kept the site is. The staff are friendly and the facicilities were spotless.
Although I have been caravanning for 10years this was our first trip with a 6month old baby, so we had slight nerves about how successful the trip would be, the staff ensured that we had a pitch next to our friends so that we had help and support on hand.
And as I have 13 and 11year old boys also the big draw was the proximity to the broads, and they don't get much closer. less than 200m from the gate. there is also a great pub 200m in the other direction.
A perfect site for a great family break.

A perfect Site
We stayed for 4 nights at the end of May and it has been a pleasure to visit this area and stay at this site. The wardens clearly know the area well and the information provided (verbally & visually through signs on the site) was outstanding. And they carry out their jobs to a very high standard of commitment. Impressive. Such a simple thing to share local bus details / local walks, etc - but so important if you want to get the most out of a visit. We visited St Benet's Abbey and we also walked in the other direction and found a large house with beautiful gardens and a small shop selling ice-creams - all flat walking and you follow the Broad - walking alongside but not on the towpath. We were lucky with the weather but I believe the area would be a joy to visit in any weather. We took the bus to Norwich (who knew how beautiful Norwich was!?) and you really need the day to explore that - the bus stops in the layby just outside the site and the journey is about an hour there and a little over coming back but the views across the countryside on the way is just stunning. There is also a small shop at Ludham Bridge. Quite well stocked. We had a pizza from the visiting van on-site (I can highly recommend that - but book because they sell out - we had the last 2! Lucky). There is also an ice-cream van that visits the site. That was an absolute joy - if you are of a certain age (childhood in the 70's...) then I can guarantee you will still get exited when you hear the music... and the ice-cream was real ice-cream...just beautiful. We actually didn't want to leave and that rarely happens. Thankyou CMC! We are looking forward to returning.
LOVELY SITE
Beautiful site, pitches very spacious. Had a lovely stay, enjoyed our walk along the riverbank to How Hill and St Benet's Abbey. Stayed for a couple of nights but certainly we will return for another stay - highly recommend it.
Standard falling
Returned to this site after 7 years and all I can say the standards have well and truly slipped. Located in a lovely area is the only positive one can say, if you like young children playing outside your caravan not theirs at 10.30 pm on skate boards and racing around on hover boards this is the site for you. People not following the rules and parking next to the white peg, one day the grass was cut mains lead taken out of the bollard then pushed back in and tripped the breaker returned to find the fridge off.
The wardens hardly ever visible on the site and just turned a blind eye to what is going on, when paying nearly £40 per night you expect higher standards, if the club have rules please ensure they are followed so people can have a enjoyable vacation, Overall condition of the grounds very poor, pitches not very well maintained. Visited Knaresborough early in the year and the standards their are a lot higher with visible wardens.
Not for those looking for lazy mornings !
Beautiful site, immaculately kept & very clean with lovely friendly wardens. The site is in the perfect location for exploring the stunning Norfolk Broads
A small play area for the few children on site (we visited May Bank Holiday and there were only a couple of other children for our 10 year old to play with)
The only draw back - which I’m afraid was a BIG one for us, we both work full on jobs in the NHS and for Astra Zeneca, so have been more stressful than usual recently ! & we love lazy mornings with lie ins & relaxing starts - the noisy cockerels (starting at 4am !!) and the motor bike repair shop (revving engines from 8am) put pay to any chance of a lie in !! We are leaving early so that we can catch up on some sleep at home before going back to our busy day jobs ☹️
