We love this site- the location is unique- it’s just pure rest and relaxation. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when walking around the large site we found the second toilet block and washing up area closed. What’s going on here? if the facilities are reduced by half surely the number of pitches available should be reduced accordingly- on health and safety grounds? By closing this block located in the centre of this large site you are drastically limiting our choice of pitch - this is a very personal review- we have a small camper van with no onboard toilet, my husband has problems walking and other health issues require us to choose a quiet pitch. We know this site has an abundance of quiet pitches but they were just too far from the only functioning facilities block. I think you must refer to the fact that not all facilities are open on the information page of every site impacted by the decision to close these basic requirements for a happy relaxing holiday! Communication is the key here.
Great staff
We stayed at the new England bay site from the 6th June till the 9th June, while we were there our motorhome broke down, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, the AA recovered our motorhome ,until this the staff looked after it,also the staff offered to take us to the local shop if needed,we have now been reunited with our motorhome, highly recommend visiting this site.
Our "home" site
We use this site as our benchmark for quality of experience. It is everything the website says it is, and more. We can drive to it in less than an hour so we visit quite often.

Super Site
We have just spent a wonderful few days at this site and I can honestly say it is one of my favourite as the peace and quiet is just perfect. If you value relaxing days away from it all with beach walks and sea views this is the site for you. The staff are lovely and you can see how hard they work as the toilet and shower blocks are immaculate along with the general care of the site. My husband says I am very hard to please but when I am happy it shows and this site makes me very happy and I would have gladly stayed longer.
This site is worth the price charged and I hope to return and I do hope after reading my review you visit too as you won't be disappointed.
A big 'thank-you' to the wardens for a real gem of a site!
Our Favourate place
We first came in 2001 and have been here most years ever since. So wonderfully peaceful and relaxing, lots of space and direct access to a lovely beach. A trip to the mull and a brew in Galleycraig whilst there is a must. Port Logan, Logan gardens and Sandhead are all worth visiting as is Port Patrick. The Village store in Drummore is well stocked. The nearest supermarkets and fuel are in Stranraer. The gardens atCastle Douglas and Glenwhan are both good to visit. It is a long drive from everywhere ( 125 miles from Carlisle ) and very isolated. We got home this week after 11 nights there, as always the wind blew trying to blow us off the face of the earth a couple of times and we had downpours where the rain comes in sideways, but then as always the weather changes and the sun comes out. They have put code operated locks on the toilet block entrances to keep out the freeloaders who since Covid have started parking on the beach car park and sneaking in across the beach to use the facilities.
My favourite club site
been going there for years and years just been for our first year, they have new wardens and they are very keen and helpful if needed, when the weather is good it is lovely and theres a vast selection of different pitches, toilet facilities are spotless and now theyve put key codes on the doors to keep the freeloaders out who park outside and come in and mess the toilets up. The surounding area is lovely and tranquil its an oasis in a turbulent world.
What a gem!
What a gem of a site! Direct access on to a quiet beach, suitable for swimming excellent for paddle boarding, the water was calm until today when there was a squall as we were leaving. As other views have mentioned there are pebbles at the top of the beach, but there was a lovely expanse of sand when the tide was out, when the tide was in fully, there was no sand, but plenty of room to walk the dogs across the dunes.
Two toilet blocks which closed at different times, so I could have my shower even if I was ‘late’ getting organised.
The pitches are large and there is plenty of choice of sea view, or little glade.
If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the one for you.
A trip to the lighthouse is a must, where surprisingly there is a lovely cafe/restaurant which served us a beautiful lunch out on the terrace with views to rival any we have seen abroad. Port Patrick was quaint with plenty of pubs offering lunches outside.
The grocer in Dunnmore village was very well stocked,
My only grievance was with the selfish people who were parked up by the entrance to the site to ‘wild camp’. Some felt entitled to walk across the beach and nip up to use the showers for free. Being British we didn’t say anything to them, just glared, but having chatted to the warden about it I understand that locks will be put on the shower block for next year. Apparently it all began after Covid.
I can’t comment on the wi fi as we don’t use it on holiday, there was a good O2 signal and 4G was fine too. There was a lovely play area for children and a games room, but very few children as the Scottish schools had gone back, I understand it was very crowded the week before.
On the whole we had a wonderful week, the dogs loved it too. We shall be back.
2nd Holiday in our new Motorhome
Gorgeous scenery at an amazing site, wonderful walks around the area along the beach. We will definitely return and stay for longer the next time!
Very O natural…..
Bit of an unusual site this one, compared to most. Very spread out with lots of coves and individual bays. Took us a while to find a pitch that suited us, but we got there in the end. We even extended our stay an extra day as we were there during the extreme temperatures and being coastal it was much cooler than inland.
You do have to careful when moving around the site though, the ground is very uneven compared to most clubsites. We visited PortPatrick, but being a Sunday it was horrendous. The pub in the centre had an Elvis impersonator going at full volume, and the bowling club at the end had a Tom Jones impersonator also at full volume. I’ve had two visits with bikeing clubs and wanted to take the wife, not exactly how I wanted her to see it!! The lighthouse was a better visit, stunning views. No doubt we’ll be back at some point.
We keep coming back
This must be our 5th or 6th visit here & as always we love it, i did notice this time people flying drones from their caravan & could hear a motorbike tearing up the countryside from a distance but we didn't let them bother us too much, Its a great site with spacious pitches & a quiet beach.
